The size is great, and it provides a great deal of protection when I have used this welding jacket very successfully for many years. I'm just starting to learn how to weld, so I don't have a lot of experience with other types of welding jackets, but this one fits the bill. As far as protection from weld splatter and accidental contact with hot parts goes, the leather sleeves are very good. The heat from the welding is however rather intense (it is a characteristic of welding). This fabric helps to keep the overall jacket cool since it covers the chest and body. While it is fall now, I might need to purchase another jacket for the summer during which it would not be as protective, but it would be a bit They are likely to be slightly larger than their actual size, but not by much. But my favourite size is a large, but the only size I could choose from Since I figured I might want to wear layers under it during the winter, the extra space wasn't going to harm, and it most certainly will. In addition to my height, I have a broad torso that accounts for most of my height. As I noted earlier, I am very pleased with how reasonable the length is. It worked great for around eight months and then caught on fire. I liked it so I ordered this one and it came on June 3rd. It is now June 6th and the material seems thinner and there are holes in it. It also has buttons that are too strong for it. The button would always rip through the material each time I tried to take it off. My shirt has now been worn for three 12 hour shifts, and none of the buttons will stay attached and I can't button anything else. Using money in the wrong way. I'm going to buy another one this weekend of a different brand.
A rip in one of the snap-on buttons shows that the jacket is made of poor quality material. It is not something I would recommend.
The product is good. I would buy it You look great in that I have been using it for welding class and burning a few pounds of sticks every few days for practice, and the jacket is holding up well. One small quibble is that I would like the front collar to be higher and enclosed more fully like they do in their all cotton jackets because a spark or slag does go down the front every now and then. It's like this. Character is built in this way. Besides that, it gives excellent heat protection and protects your arms from sparks and hot plates. The next time it wears out, I'll order again.
It is a nice "combo" jacket with two layers of fabric on the arms and the torso which allows for air circulation. I have recently put it through a lot of exercise with many hours of overhead stick welding and leather arms worked with no burnthrough. It did burn a couple of holes in the torso fabric, but this is not shocking. Overhead stick may be used if it stands up to it. Taking on other positions will be a piece of cake. The product is excellent. I would buy it.
This is the XL that I ordered. The height and weight of me is 6'3"/200 lbs. In addition to fitting perfectly, the sleeves are comfortably long. There's a wonderful smell of leather in the air. Feel confident when making a purchase.
I think this jacket is absolutely gorgeous! It is only because the material burns very quickly, especially if you are welding overhead, that I did not give it a five-star rating. Today, straight welding is the only use where the chips will not land all over the jacket.
Heavy duty price at a great price.
