I love the softness and warmth of this In the same vein as Terry cloth is closer to polar fleece than it is to terry cloth.
My understanding is that they are universal, even if they might not be a direct fit. All it takes is a little bit of ugly to be attractive.
Eight inches is the size of the object. These welding hood headbands measure approximately 5 inches, and if you have no obstructions in your welding hood headband, it should be OK. And they are washable!
A band about 1 1/4 inches wide (ID) will probably fit over it, which is about 8 1/2" long. I have a Harbor Freight welding shield, and these fit well.

The welding helmets I have are excellent for this purpose. The material is extremely soft, and of course, But I do not dry them in a dryer, I just hang them up to I prefer these pads over the crap ones that came with the helmet, and they feel good on my bald head,.
I've worn them all over the US, from Texas to Mississippi to Alabama to Louisiana, which can be machine or hand washed!.
I couldn't expect to get a perfect fit from a third-party seller, but it's as close as I could hope for. My local chainsaw store sold me an STIHL chainsaw helmet that arrived with a sweatband that soon wore out. I could not find a STIHL replacement online, and the store sent me a substitute that did not fit. I paid over $7 for a sweatband that was thin and flimsy. Sweat will be absorbed effectively by this sweatband when used with welding helmets. I ask for nothing more than that. As a result, this tool is much more durable than the one from STIHL.
A sweat-absorbing material that makes the hard hat comfortable to wear is a great addition.
I am very happy with how well it works. The product is great. I will buy it.
I found the headband to fit on the welding hood perfectly.
