In this case, no. This combination of helmet, shield, and hearing protection is tough, reliable, and well-made. The headphones are well-designed, comfortable, and easy to adjust. They also block out loud noises. You can vigorously shake your head side to side or up and down with the ear muffs on your ears and they will stay in place. Even if you don't have ear muffs on, if you dial in the hat band correctly, the helmet will stay in place. br>br>I was so taken with this helmet combo that I purchased one for a friend as a birthday present. He, too, is a big fan of his.
Because the instructions are on the plastic bag that the product comes in, and they aren't exactly good instructions, it took me 15 minutes to figure out how all of the parts are put together. br>br>Aside from the poor assembly instructions, I found that once I got it put together, it fit me well, was easy to tighten the knob in the back to my size, and the screen visor is cool; it is strong enough to keep flying debris or falling twigs from above out of your eyes. The ear muffs are not removable, despite what the Amazon catalog claims; they can be moved to the side, but not removed. If you do, you won't be able to attach the screen visor so that it can move up and down. The ear muffs do a good job of blocking out noise, but they are extremely tight around the ears. I'm not sure if I'll use them, but once they're out of the way, the helmet and screen visor can be used without fear. br>br>I really hope that some of the sellers read this and send their feedback to the Chinese manufacturers, telling them that they need to improve their instructions. After all is said and done, for the $20 I paid, I think it was a good deal. It's 99 dollars well spent. I'm excited to use it for chainsawing and other overhead tree maintenance around my house.
It's fantastic. I have a Husgvarna chainsaw helmet that I bought for my wife to help me cut and split wood. It is critical to wear eye and ear protection. This helmet was less expensive than just the ear muff and visor. We got head protection for a cheaper price. If you've ever seen a hard hat with the snap-on brim up close, you'll know what I'm talking about. It takes minutes to put this together after adjusting the part in the head. It was unnecessary for me to consult the instructions. Others have commented that the bag's directions are difficult to read. They are. They may have improved as a result of the fact that mine came with paper instructions. see PIC. The hard plastic of the adjust insert irritates the top of my head a little, but there's no hair up there, just skin. It is not a problem for my wife. When you lower the earmuffs to cover your ears, they do hang a little on the helmet, but it's not a big deal. It will perform admirably for the price.
My helmet came from Taiwan, which, in my opinion, is a step up from China. It's well-made, simple to assemble, and it should serve me well. Stihl made my previous helmet, but I misplaced the face shield. Helmets from Stihl with similar features are significantly more expensive. br>br>The only disadvantage I see with this helmet is that the ear pieces only rotate backwards to be placed on the back of the helmet. Unlike my old Stihl helmet, they do not protrude from your head. However, I can live with the "non-" feature".
This product is well worth the money for the price. I like that it came with both a solid and a mesh face shield, which I can switch out as needed. Because the initial assembly is simple, I had no need to be concerned about some negative reviews. My 52cc 20" saw is barely audible thanks to the hearing protection, and my 42cc limbing saw is nearly silent. I'm giving it a four-star rating. Honestly, 5 stars, but I'll go with 5 because the headband adjustment seems to require a 1 click adjustment every now and then, which can be annoying when I'm felling trees and cutting logs, but oh well. It's possible that it's just my large head. In any case, this is an excellent purchase, and I will purchase another if the need arises.
It's difficult to get hearing protection on over-the-head gear. It takes a lot of effort to get it on properly. I'm using the screen instead of the clear guard because the clear one is so easily scratched; I'll save it for when I really need it. br>br>The screen is adequate, but it reduces light by almost three-quarters. 4 shades. It's the equivalent of putting on a pair of sunglasses. Furthermore, because it is a mesh, finer detail is obscured. It's okay in a pinch because there's airflow, but it's difficult to see through in a shop setting, which is what I'm using it for. If I'm outside, there's glare on the inside of the screen. br>br>So, if you're debating between this and the helmet version - go with the helmet version. Obtain the protective gear. It would cut down on glare and make it easier to use the protection. That is the route I should have taken.
I bought it to protect my eyes and ears while felling trees on my property. It is effective at what it does. The face screen is great because it doesn't fog up or obstruct my vision while I'm wearing it. When combined with in-ear hearing protectors, the hearing protector cups perform admirably. I'm wearing earplugs so I won't hear my wife nagging me about what to cut next. br>The only criticism I have is that putting it all together took some time and effort; however, I believe it will work well with my line-trimmer as well.
