Many Sabre products have been purchased, used, and reviewed by me, and I believe they are the best in the industry. class. Many law enforcement agencies rely on their products. br>br>And while a small container like this won't hold a lot of pepper spray, it should be enough to keep someone distracted long enough for you to flee. Also, keep in mind that pepper spray is a defensive rather than an offensive weapon. If at all possible, use it to defend yourself before fleeing. Also keep in mind that you will most likely get some into your own eyes. It's also worth noting that in some jurisdictions, using pepper spray improperly is a felony. br>br>However, why is there only a two-star rating? br>br>To summarize, I'm not a fan of the safety cap. You may not know which way to turn the cap to unlock it if you don't practice and memorize how to use it. It's also easy to mix up the nozzle opening, which protrudes, with the safety lock, and I can easily imagine a situation where someone could point the nozzle right at themselves, which obviously won't help, or they won't be able to use the spray at all. br>br>I usually keep a small can of Sabre pepper spray in my pocket. It's a little bigger, but it's got a springy feel to it. Even when stressed and with your eyes closed, this loaded cap is simple to use. It's nearly impossible to spray the one I use without putting your thumb under the spring-loaded cap. You'll know your thumb is pointed forward, at the assailant, once you feel it in position with the loaded safety cap. This is not the case with this product. br>br>It's important to remember that you won't have a lot of time to think things through in a stressful situation or when the lighting is poor. Your actions must be quick, almost instinctive, and second nature to you. This product will almost certainly necessitate too much thought and analysis, so I do not recommend it. br>br>I would recommend the product if it had a different cap/safety configuration, but I can easily imagine someone pepper spraying themselves or otherwise being unable to use it quickly in a stressful situation. As much as I dislike doing so, given Sabre's excellent reputation, I'd only give this product two stars and recommend that you instead purchase one of the other excellent Sabre pepper spray models.
I've only had it for a month or so. I dropped it on the floor by accident, and it blew up. In front of my dogs, to be precise. They seemed to be fine, but we were all coughing. Something that was supposed to protect me backfired spectacularly!.
The lack of a true safety lock was something I didn't like about this product. If you turn it to the right, it will turn on, and if you turn it to the left, it will turn off. That can easily be turned on while I'm carrying it in my purse. There isn't a true safety lock on this door. I received a refund from Amazon after explaining the risks that using this type of pepper spray poses to the user. There isn't much of a refund policy, but they were gracious enough to refund my $20 for two, and I will be purchasing a more secure product.
For the past few weeks, I've had this in my work pocket. I wear scrubs to work and keep it loose in my shirt pocket so it doesn't rub against anything. My stomach began to itch today, and when I looked down, I noticed that it had LEAKED all over my stomach and even my leg. I had to dash to the bathroom and strip down, then wash myself in the sink before calling my husband to bring me clean clothes. I've never even turned it on because it was mostly for my own peace of mind.
We're having trouble getting the hook onto the tiny ring! Several of us have attempted it, and I believe it is impossible!.
Less, in search of a proper recipe for self-defense that I could give to my wife or child, I felt compelled to put this new fangled "means of equality" to the test on myself. I'm delighted. as well as disappointment. Imagine being sprayed with an atomized capsule of habanero Tabasco sauce, and that's the level of protection provided by this high-tech device. end BS. Seriously, I have spices in my pantry that would make this look easy.
The top firing mechanism (spray nozzle safety switch) is very easy to turn on without knowing, and if you go for it in your pocket, it has a high chance of triggering (shooting) if you're not careful. br>br>I wrapped skin adhesive tape (band-aid tape) around the top firing part and the body of the container to help/fix that chance possibility. Now you don't have to worry about accidental firing in your pocket because it'll stay in place.
As a first line of defense, I keep this on my person at all times. I bought two and put one in a tree to see how it worked. I got 13 short bursts, despite the fact that the instructions said 16 bursts. I was about 8 feet away from the tree, and I'm guessing it has a 10 foot range. It shoots out a perfect stream, and even though I was only 8 feet away, I started to tear up and cough. So, if you ever needed a quick deterrent to get away from an attacker or a stray wild dog, this is what I would say. This should suffice.
