I bought this for personal protection, and I've had similar items in the past. While the size and shape made it comfortable to hold (I have small hands, so this was ideal! ), ) The product appears to be poorly constructed. The canister fell out of the shell somewhere within two weeks of purchasing it, rendering it completely useless as a piece of plastic:.
I like the color and think it's a good idea to have it.
Although it is very useful, I have yet to use it.
During the assault, the attacker covered his eyes and hunched over as soon as this was sprayed (from a distance of maybe 3 feet). I continued to spray until he left my home. My own head felt like a foggy mud puddle in the room, but the assailant was knocking on other doors for assistance with the pain in his eyes caused by the pepper spray. By simply walking through the same room 15 minutes later, the air had made someone else feel muddy puddleish. He could still move while spraying this. br>br> I didn't have the option of fleeing because I was in my own home, so I sprayed until he was gone. After three days, he told someone I know that both his legs, arms, and head were still "on fire. "br>br>With normal conceal and carry practices in my purse, the locking mechanism has switched from safety to unlocked. Do not store in a child-accessible area. br>In an emergency, the quick release button on the keychain may require some practice to operate quickly and efficiently. br>br>After using this, I'd use pepper gel to keep it from washing out so easily.
The color is appealing, and it complements the rest of my self-defense tools on my keychain. I ordered two of these and used one to practice aiming and learn how to use it in case I ever needed it (which I hope I never will). Based on my experience, this shoots a long distance! You can easily use this from a distance of at least 6 feet, if not a little more, and get the job done before running for assistance.
This is one of those items that you hope you will never need. I only did a test spray on a wall to get a feel for it. It feels good in my hand and is simple to operate. The locking mechanism appears to be sufficiently secure.
It's a good size and it's a good price.
