Today, while out for a walk in the afternoon, an aggressive dog barked at me from inside its yard. I continued to walk, but the dog continued to bark at me. I sprayed once because I was feeling aggressive. There was no action taken. He moved in closer. I sprayed once more. It was a big success! Because these small canisters are designed with three finger slots instead of four like a normal human hand, your index finger naturally covers the nozzle as shown in the photo. In an emergency situation where you need to use it quickly, whether it's gel or not, spraying it will cause splashback off your index finger and into your own face, effectively giving the attacker the advantage and, in my opinion, is defective. br>You might reason, "OK, I'll keep my pinky off the bottom. " "However, no one will do so in an emergency. " br>br>Not only is this a poor design, but it will also result in serious liability issues for these companies, or possibly the drop shippers who sell them, as it has for others in the past; it is essentially a defective product that is still being sold on Amazon. I'm surprised they haven't already been suffocated by lawsuits. However, only a small percentage of them are ever used in a real situation, and liability insurance is likely less expensive than having China redesign the product.

There was no visible damage to the packaging when I received it. My key chain now has a key ring on it. I took great care not to turn the spray top over. br>br>Then there's 30-something. My right eye began to burn about 60 seconds later. I knew exactly what it was - Years ago, a pepper spray accidentally leaked from my pocket. It got into my eyes as well. So, at least at low doses, I know how that feels. br>br>A few hours later, I used my keys, and it didn't take long for me to notice a burning sensation in my eyes. I'm pretty sure I touched my eyelids. br>br>What I'm getting at is that I believe the unit had a minor leak or was contaminated in some way.

Bought for my wife's job, which requires her to make home visits in a dangerous neighborhood. We're both more confident now in our ability to stop an assailant from escaping. It is a very powerful gel, easier to apply, more immune to wind or rain, and Sabre Red has more power (18%) than cheap 2010% pepper sprays. This spray contains 25 shots, which is a three-fold increase in the number of shots available. Spraying multiple attackers is possible because this spray has a 5x multiplier. So, my advice is to buy the best as if your life depended on it, because it very well could! br>br>UPDATE: br>br> 9/9/2015 The entire top housing of this item literally just fell off my wife's keychain for no apparent reason. My wife's safety would have been jeopardized if she had attempted to use this. This shouldn't happen if you keep it on your keychain all the time. I attempted to contact the manufacturer through their website but received no response. So now I'm thinking about packing up the item and mailing it to them, demanding a refund or a replacement. They need to know this item is defective, and you should think twice about buying it if the entire spray housing can fall out during normal use and the manufacturer won't stand behind it. When the time comes to use it, it must be available.

This model is much more appealing to me! A cap with a gap for your thumb to slide under protects the button. There will be no twisting, rotating, or tinkering with safety features. The cap is held closed by a small spring, and sliding your thumb under it takes almost no effort, but it stays securely shut, and I don't have to worry about it falling out of my purse. I can't seem to locate a way to get in touch with the. This is something I bought to keep on my dog's leash when I take her for a night walk. The lid of the cartridge popped off the other day, revealing that there was nothing inside, rendering this product completely useless. I can't seem to find a way to get in touch with the seller and request a replacement. This is not something I would recommend purchasing.
