Selected User Reviews For Master Lock M115XDLF Magnum Heavy Duty Outdoor Padlock with Key, 1 Pack
As part of a collection of locks to practice picking, this one was part of the set I bought. I thought that this selection was disappointingly easy to pick for someone who is just starting out based on the otherwise good quality of construction. For me, the process takes about a minute, which may be slightly longer than say, a Master #3, which I might be able to pick in seconds, but I have almost no experience picking locks and this lock should not be a problem for anyone who is experienced. As far as construction is concerned, it seems reasonable While the rubber cover doesn't appear waterproof, it should protect the device against basic weather damage, and its hard steel and boron-coated body makes it weather resistant. The steel bolts seems rather difficult to cut through (it would take a power tool like an angle grinder to remove the steel) It is unlikely that bolt cutters will be able to remove it. In the photo you can see me taking the key out of the lock after I turned it without a key inside. The keys are still in their packaging - (Note The keys are still in their packaging) As someone who has been practicing lock picking, I removed the lock from its packaging by picking it
For a comparable lock with much better pick resistance, the Kwikset Smartkey padlock is very hard to pick even for experienced lock pickers. I can't pick it yet, though a professional lock picker should still be able to get through it. It's better than this lock but still not quite as good as the Brinks 672 (although I don't have the skills yet).
Several locks were used along with safety equipment in an outdoor storage shed. It was only with alcohol and a torch that we were able A total of three padlocks were replaced, including three Master Lock brand padlocks that never froze for 20 years at the same place. This is what I found in Weather protection is further enhanced with moisture seals and a covered keyway. " According to me, this marketing marketing BS was designed to collect water inside the padlock because these features allowed it to do just that. The problem should have easily been found and fixed during the product testing process, if such testing is done. Only good news is that the case and body of the padlock didn't melt as they were heated to thaw.
In three of the four locks, the moisture seal has been broken. This is a large reason for buying them since I am going to use them on tool boxes that will spend most of the time outside. Nevertheless, all except one of them have them missing. The tools I received for my lock have a life time warranty. If I didn't need them locked at this moment, I would return them.
I would like a lock that has a rubberized sleeve that will be nice to the trailer's exterior since it bangs around a lot while The lock is definitely Master Lock tough, and has a protective jacket, but the cover that goes over the keyhole has a drain hole in it, and the flap is flush with the jacket, so even if you flip the lock bottom side up, rain or snow will still get inside. If rain gets into the lock and freezes, the key cannot be inserted, and you can't get in until it is unfrozen. I would recommend the Master Locks that have a round cover that goes over the key area for a snowmobile trailer.
During my review of the product, I noticed some were missing the keyhole covers, and I just thought they just had bad luck. As it turned out, when I received my order I had only received two of the cover keys. Despite its cheap price, the lock has a lot of advantages. It opens and closes easily, and I like that it has a rubber coating, because I use it to lock up my paddle boards, making me not worried that I'll damage them.
These are the third set I've made of these four Weather-resistant locks are a good idea. There are several fenced in parking lots we use them at as well as an outside ski locker at a local resort, which we use them at. It's the true test of how weather resistant they are in my opinion. In those regions, constant snow is made, rough winter elements are present and there are a lot of freezing and thawing scenarios. It's not uncommon for us to be in that locker multiple times a day, and we have never had a problem opening or closing it. The guts of the reels are lubed from both ends with a Wurth spray product that keeps them slick. However, their hold up very well even without lubrication. Please do not be too rough on the plastic lock caps as they will fall off and are a bit difficult to replace.
The only negative aspect of these locks is the cover over the keyhole. They were bought because the key holes are supposed to be covered so sand/mud and debris cannot get in. The keyhole covers for three of the four keyholes were missing when the men arrived. They are flimsy junk, so the one that still had a cover won't last. If you want to cover the keyhole, this wouldn't be a good choice!.
My friend is a locksmith and recommended me these locking up ladders, so I put them on my truck and so far so good.
