There may be something wrong with the wire, but it isn't that large. The fact that some versions of the product are 9-V battery powered suggests low current usage as well.

The company did not respond to a warranty claim for a product that failed in 10 months
3/5

The old unit I had began to malfunction, and so I purchased this detector to replace it. Having purchased this unit less than one year ago, it is now beeping and blinking red and green - less than a year after installation and purchase. Based on the descriptions, there appears to be a problem. After a long day of camping, we had to disconnect the unit in order to sleep. I can't seem to reach MTI Industries at the moment. My contact information appears on their website, I have emailed twice, and I have called their customer service department during normal business hours, but I have not heard back. Neither MTI Industries nor its representatives have responded to my email or phone calls.

In addition to what others have said - You should be careful when buying There is very little life left in the unit before it needs to be replaced
3/5

In comparison to the (MTI 35-7) Despite the fact that the Safe T Alert (742) unit is a nice to have when it works, it may be problematic to replace it every 6 months due to its short life span. Before reading any further, look for other reviews that have had similar problems with this model unit. The unit was bought from Amazon on September 10, 2018 and installed on November 5, 2018 since the trailer was in storage and not being used. Two screws and two wires white and black are all that is required for replacement. After the third time I took out the trailer on Feb 2, 2019, the unit started blinking red and green, which means that it has reached its end of service life and needs to be replaced. This is also a detector that I purchased to replace my old unit that was breaking down and going into alarms during the night. (Same model) I also followed other reviews and purchased it to replace my old unit. In a little more than 5 months since its purchase and installation, this unit is beeping and blinking red and green repeatedly Based on the descriptions, there appears to be a problem. Our trip was coming to a close, and we had to disconnect the unit to sleep and finish the journey. My struggle now is to contact MTI Industries as well. As others have done, I have used the "Contact Us" on their website, I have emailed three times, and I have called the customer service department during business hours. Upon leaving a message, I was unable to receive a response. Neither MTI Industries nor its representatives have responded to my email or phone calls. I will update once this is fixed. You should note They used JUN 07,2018 for the build date used for the 12 month warranty. There is no way the seller can be held responsible it is the MTI manufacturer that is to blame. We spoke with the vendor on February 16, 2019, and the unit has a warranty of one year. We are attaching an Amazon receipt showing the unit had only been purchased 5 months ago. I received a request from the vendor to get an RMA# and return the unit at my expense. It took about 6 days to receive a brand new unit. I am satisfied with the vendor and the.

It was before The device is designed to cease to function after 5 years from the A scam of this scale has never been seen before
3/5

There is no way to make something last forever, but this company has programmed an obsolescence date into the product. The instructions say that you should replace the product after five years *of use*, but the device ceases to function five years after its The one I bought was used for a year and did not work when I got it (I got it after it had been on the shelf for a year). After the first month of ownership, you can snooze the beep for 72 hours. Once the thing has been up for one month, there is no way to shut it down I suggest you look for another brand that does not insist on a pre-purchase Date of premature replacement that has already been determined.

The first one of these I bought started alarming (gas) after three years
3/5

I'm hoping for better results this time. Because it had not yet reached the end of its 5-year service lifespan, I had to remove it from service. Unlike other choices (and it fits in the existing hole), I'm buying this one again because it's hard to find another one like it in the market. There is no one who lives in this world An RV that is 100% smoke-free 365 days a year were ideal, so operating conditions could be considered ideal. My hope is that this time I will receive better service.

In the meantime, let's hope it doesn't go bad
3/5

A word of caution to the buyer If the syringes go bad before that, you are told that they are only warranted for ONE year, even when the packaging recommends replacing the syringes after FIVE years! During the first two years we had one in the RV, then we had sporadic alerts for no apparent I always wake up at 3 AM! It was eventually removed and a new one ordered, then I called later expecting it to be replaced. Not at all! After the (unsolicited) ONE year warranty expired, it was no longer covered. However, I think it's better to have it in the RV than not, and this brand seems to fit the hole, so it's there. You should not expect it to last as long as they say it will.

Keeping a travel trailer or RV full-time is a must if you live in one full time
5/5

We bought a used travel trailer and found that the old, defected one did not have any lights. I looked further and found that it was completely disconnected and the wires had been severed. This is the replacement for the old one which I believe to be an original. My new kit was installed and working in less than 5 minutes, at which point I crimped some connectors and The charger worked each and every time I tested it. I tested it with butane, propane, and a put out smoking match. It's good that this detector is a LP and CO detector, but I'm not sure it will work well with CO as it's on the floor for LP (as propane sinks, CO rises). No matter how it will work, I like the extra safety. I swapped out the old smoke detectors at Walmart for new ones at about half the price, as well as a new fire extinguisher (without the recalled plastic handles). You can get the Kindle version from Amazon. If you want to play it safe, you need to make sure your equipment is kept up to date.

I expected it to last five years, but it lasted only one! A waste of time and I bought the device one year ago, and it didn't last! It would trigger an alarm within one year of installation and indicate that the device was malfunctioning
3/5

It continues to go off and tells us that the device has malfunctioned. According to the manufacturer, this device is expected to last for According to the device, the date is September 2015, I purchased it in February 2016, and the alarm stopped working at the Despite our best efforts, the device continues to malfunction. Invest your money in something useful! My experience with this device was very disappointing.

Please be aware
3/5

A mistake has been made in the dimensions of this item. Please be aware. This item was advertised with the wrong size! The reason I bought this item (and paid the extra fee) was that the dimensions on the packaging were identical to the old carbon monoxide/propane detector in my RV, so to replace my old one with this I simply installed it. This is incorrect. The item is much smaller than the original so it didn't fit right into the existing hole because it was too small. This is what it states in the advertisement The answer is five times seven. There are 6 x 4 pieces. It is actually 3 inches high and 3 inches wide Adding 30 to 2 is 30. One hundred and fifty times one. Size 5 in.
