The SAME absolute CO detector/alarm that I bought from Amazon back in December 2017 is exactly what I am using today. I tried looking for the last time I purchased the item on Amazon (the little Amazon tag appeared). This is the version I am still using. The desk is in one of my bedrooms, sitting on a chest of drawers. I am satisfied with how well it is working. So far I have not had to change the batteries since almost two years ago, and it has never sounded an alarm. My purpose here is to share something I learned after buying four different "retail" CO detectors (so that if one didn't work as it was supposed to, I had others). There are tons of "retail" alarms available at brick and mortar stores and online stores (like Amazon), but almost all of them only sound once levels are dangerously high (like you need to evacuate the house now). This doesn't show you if you've been exposed to low CO levels for months at a time (which is just as dangerous as one high outbreak). In this case, they will only sound the alarm once it reaches a In no way am I suggesting that you NOT get them. It is obviously essential to have a CO alarm. CO alarms are better than none at all, so this is a good thing. I highly recommend the Defender LL6070 Low Level Carbon Monoxide Monitor instead if you are in search of a device to monitor and display CO levels as low as 5ppm (instead of the 30ppm). It's alarm time. Our gas heaters are older, so I purchased two Defender LL6070 Low Level Carbon Monoxide Monitors for them and one to replace the older one. Each alarm is mounted at the end of the hallway, near the heating units. In fact, they are significantly more expensive (at $160 a pop) and come in a much shorter run time The low-concentration dose may not impact you for your entire life. However, for those with compromised immune systems, babies, seniors, other health problems, and pets, it may be important to know CO leak at a high level. It is also very dangerous to breathe in low levels of CO over time. There has been some evidence that old heating systems leak CO when they start to fail. As a result, I feel better about having the Defender LL6070 Low Level Carbon Monoxide Monitor. Alarms go off. In addition, I still keep all the "retail" alarms in each of the bedrooms, as they do serve a useful purpose. There was just a need to make sure that you knew that these "retail" devices are only high level CO alarms. They aren't intended for monitoring CO levels at low levels.
As soon as I bought it, I was going to put it next to the heater up stairs. The alarm went off in the middle of the night, so we got up and called the police. They showed up and tested us, and we had to go to the hospital to get oxygen! During that time, I and my baby (1 year) had the highest levels, and we both required I cannot give this device enough stars. It helped save my kids' lives and mine. I cannot give this gadget five stars.
The battery powered detectors were the best option because I did not want to put in additional wiring to provide the protection I required. It was nice to see that the battery compartment is located on the front side, making it easier to replace a battery. As I am very cautious and deliberate, I took the products out of the package and read all the directions twice so I would have a clear understanding of the features and installation process. After removing the compartment from the alarm to insert the batteries, the latching mechanisms on all three alarms broke. It is an extremely fragile latching mechanism and quite frankly, it is not very well The detector has many great features, but these are obscured by this latch problem. The manufacturing company must have had an extremely bad day if there is a design engineer there. Now that the battery door is not closing properly, I'm going to "fix" it with some Velcro tape. When I figure this out why can't the company figure it out before selling them too? Since I haven't yet posted them, I don't know how useful they will be or how effective they will be. The manufacturing company made a mistake, so they are too busy trying to correct it. My next post will be in the near future after I test and install the software.
Originally, I purchased it due to the fact that we have a carbon monoxide detector that only alarms. My home was in a state of fire during that first firing, so I shut everything down, ventilated it, and then started everything slowly. That season, it did not go off again, but I was concerned, so I purchased a new one so I could read it out, as I had done in the past. CO levels were rising, but not long enough or high enough to set off the alarm unless it was particularly cold and/or the furnace ran for quite some time. Now that we have a new furnace with a confirmed crack in the furnace, we are taking action to fix the issue. The old exchanger was used as the new exchanger.
As I read the reviews, I thought that the price was probably too good to be true, and I thought that most likely the date of manufacture would be several years old. At worst, I can always return it and, in any case, I figured it was worth a shot. On the other hand, I am pleased to report that the date of manufacture listed was only about 4 weeks ago on the back of the unit I received.
Thank you for this product! It saved my life and my dogs' lives tonight! My two Amazon combos didn't even go off, even when I bought them! With both an audible alert and audible speech, yours let me know I need to make the move! While it took me awhile to stand up and get my dog outside to safety, I managed to get it done before the Fire Department I have a gas leak from my heater, they confirmed. It is my strong recommendation to anyone who aspires to have peace of mind to buy this product. In fact, the FD told me that tomorrow's call could have been different had I not received this alarm.
As a response to the infamous carbon monoxide issues with my Ford Explorer, I decided to install this in my workplace vehicle. It identified a problem, which enabled me to get it fixed and monitor my CO levels in the meantime to stay safe. I'm passing this problem along to my colleagues now that my issue has been resolved There is a solution for the issues facing the workers.
Even if you press them until you are blue in the face, It is necessary to open the front battery cover (it is easy to do) and then press down hard and far enough for the sliding contacts to make contact with the switches along the back. This is a very cheaply made product and the design is terrible. For the money, this isn't a good value.
