At night, they are extremely bright. At the very least, I'm confident they could be seen from 300 to 500 yards away. In traffic, there is plenty of lead time.
I'm not familiar with the USCG's regulations. In daylight, they can be seen for approximately 1/2 mile (approximately) in a straight line view. That is dependent on the flash settings you have selected. It's not quite as far if you use the 360-degree setting. I've used them three times in my personal vehicle at an accident scene as an off-duty cop to block a lane of traffic. People appear to be able to see them because they change lanes at about that distance, according to my estimate.
I've had mine in my trunk since July 2020, and it's been fine during some hot days; however, you should check the batteries every six months.
Fortunately, we have not had to use them, but they are supposed to have a magnet and adhere to the side of your vehicle.

br>First and foremost, the LED road flares are a good size and bright, which is exactly what you need for portability (since they don't take up much space in the car) and safety. br>The various lighting modes are extremely useful, and the most recently used mode is remembered in case you need to use it again (so you don't have to scroll through each mode). br>The flares come in a case that fits them perfectly without being too tight, is of good quality, and keeps them from getting tossed around in the car as they would if they were loose. The flares use rare earth magnets that are covered, so they not only stick to the car very securely, but they also don't risk damaging the paint if you decide to stick them to the car. The two screws are recessed to avoid damaging the paint on the car. The magnets and screws on all other flares are exposed, resulting in metal-on-metal contact. When attaching them to the car, there is a lot of metal friction. Not with this product!br>The orange plastic material is slightly soft and rubberized, making the flares more impact resistant, especially if they are run over by a car or the rescue vehicle. br>Along with the red flashlight LEDs, each flare has three white flashlight LEDs. The three white flashlight LEDs are very bright and provide plenty of light in case you need to check the engine (for example, to replace oil, coolant, or battery) or if you need light in the cabin (for example, if your battery died). Sorry for the all-caps headline, but I'm very excited about these devices and want to share my thoughts on them; br>br>They arrived quickly, to begin with- Also, the packaging was fantastic- The packages include small notes and thank you notes, which I thought was a great idea: Even on Amazon, I enjoy the feel of a "small family" business. br>A on packaging and delivery was lightning fast: When you hold these discs in your hands, you know you're holding something special: They don't have a cheap feel to them. The disc players appear to be of excellent quality. I like how they fit into the small bag (which is also impressive in terms of quality, size, and color-matching). I bought two sets because the bag has a separate interior zipper pocket for the lights, extra batteries, and tools to change the lights (great idea). one for my wife's car and one for mine (I'll probably buy more sets as gifts because I'm in love with these little things)br>br>I'm a Real Estate Broker, so I'm on the road all day and night. I've been locked out of my car, had flat tires, and been stuck in the heat, rain, and snow (I live in Maine, USA). Although the lights are bright and visible at night, their use during the day is limited in New Mexico. These lights, when used as road flares, fall short and are blown over by passing vehicles. During the midday sun, drivers claim they can't see them well.
They come with batteries installed and a couple of specific screwdrivers to make battery changes simple; they take AAA batteries. They're quite bright, and there are a variety of light patterns to suit almost any user. The mini kit also comes with a side automotive window breaker in case of water entrapment, which works well and is of good quality, and can be mounted or simply stored in your glove box. The only suggestion I have is to make a setting on the light that strobes a little faster than the current setup, as the strobe is a little slow, but everything else is perfect. Another suggestion is to order the option with six lights rather than three, because if you're stuck in traffic late at night, you'll want to create a long line of flashing lights to keep other vehicles from getting too close to you or your vehicle. I highly recommend these lights for their brightness, quality materials, and storage, as well as the fact that they eliminate the need to carry live flame road flares, which are dangerous if you don't know how to use them. Stick with the LED's, you can't go wrong.
