Certainly not. This check valve is conveniently located next to the pump to facilitate maintenance and prevent water from returning to the pump. Another check valve is needed in the 1 1/2 inch pipe to prevent thunk sounds and control backflow pressure from water when the Zoeller pump is turned off. I highly recommend the Zoeller 30-minute workout. 1 1/2 check valve, part number 0041 I had an off-brand, and the thunk noise was deafening. The Zoeller 30-minute workout When the sump pump is turned off, the 0041 check valve eliminates ALL thunk noises. It was simple to set up, and future maintenance efforts are possible thanks to the use of disconnects.
You'll need a reducer if you want to do it directly. The coupling that comes with it is designed to fit 1 1/2 inch PVC pipe.
A reducer will be required. It's designed to work with PVC that's 1 1/2 inches thick.
My Zoeller pump is hooked up to it. When the pump is turned on, it drains my pit to the point where water "squirts" out of the weep hole near the threads. This section becomes partially submerged as the pit fills up.

Because it was a Zoeller pump, I ordered this for it. You'd think they'd send a check valve that was compatible with their pumps. Then, when everything was delivered and I read the Zoeller pump's instructions - Clearly, the check valve should be installed above the basin, higher up the exit pipe! So why do they sell a check valve that screws into the pump's base? Furthermore, if it works like any other "normal" submersible pump, putting a check valve so close to the start of the water push will make your pump work harder and shorten its life. This was a complete waste of time!.
This is a fantastic check valve. It is very simple to set up. Simply screw 1 into place. Drill a 5 inch hole in the pump and insert the pvc connection on the opposite side, then tighten the clamps with a screwdriver. There is no noise, and there is no standing water in the drain line because it has a weep hole.
The Zoeller 30-minute workout I needed a check valve, and the 0238 fit the bill perfectly. It's a small, straightforward design that attaches to a 1 1/2" sump pump discharge pipe. It's more durable than similar-purpose valves found in hardware and big-box stores. Unfortunately, the picture shown (the long white valve assembly) does not represent the Zoeller 30-inch valve assembly. Valve number 0238. The valve in question appears to be a Zoeller 30-style valve. 0040 valve, which is also a good valve but not the model I was looking for. It took me a couple of phone calls to figure this out, by the way. I informed Amazon of the error, and they promised to correct it at a later date. The only way to find out is to wait.
It performs exactly as it should. It's simply screwed into the Sump- Place the pipe in the opposite end of the pump. Now tighten the clamps on the pipe and you're finished. br>The Sumptuary- Pump is located directly beneath my bed. We used to have an old valve for it, and it made a huge load bang. After that, when one of them broke, he got this to replace it. We're very pleased with ourselves. When the flap closes, it barely makes a sound. I no longer have nightmares about the house collapsing on top of me. lol.
This is the check valve you'll need to install a Zoeller sump pump. The pump in the sump is directly connected to this valve. You might also want to put a check valve outside the sump, depending on your setup.
It's nice that it's small and compact, but I was using it on a two-compartment sink (kitchen) and when I connected everything, it leaked because I didn't realize it came with a small weep hole; it didn't serve my purpose, so I tossed it.
It's simple to set up, but we'll have to wait and see how long it lasts.
I bought a Zoeller M58 when I replaced the pump, and it's a direct replacement. Everything is in order.
