Questions & Answers

Can you tell me how to prime a Wayne Utility Pump 1/2 HP?

Use a large crescent wrench (size 9/16) or the plug from the top of the pump for better torque of the plug. Use water of about a quart to help the plug install. If it's full, you will be able to tell. As soon as the pump starts pumping, the result will be immediate.

Is the end piece that goes on the end of a hose also offered by you?

On the side of my pump I noticed a really cheap 15' exit hose The other things were bought with 97). You'll find the refund policy at the bottom of the checkout 99) Apache PVC suction (intake hose) with larger diameter that won't collapse (suck shut). A better choice would have been to write this post. Though I had to buy a hose adapter, it works perfectly and does not clog like smaller hoses do.

When this pump is operating normally, how much current does it draw? Do you know how many amps it takes?

This is a "Kill-" - Watt" meter indicates that the PC4 draws a little over 7 Amps. It uses five This is equivalent to 911 VA at 5 volts AC. Also, the meter read 775 watts of power consumption, which indicates that the power factor of the pump motor is pretty skewed (since it is a very inductive load), since the VA value is not equal to

I empty my 500 gallon hot tub in less than an hour with it
5/5

My guess is that it will pump between 8 and 10 gallons Your intake hose diameter and length will determine how many liters you are able to use.

The 1/2HP pump delivers very high PSI and volume at a great price
5/5

I use it to pump water from ponds and rainwater to water the lawn. Wayne pumps are used for many tasks, but are primarily used to pump rainwater from holding tanks to lawns and gardens. I had this pump for ten years and used it variously. A great thing about this pump is how much pressure it produces as well as how easy it is Make sure to prime the pump by filling up the threaded cap after you screw it on. It will not work if the priming is not done! In my experience, my pump was usually used as a flooded suction, so that it filled up with water as soon as it was hooked up to A 3/4" garden hose with 250 feet of 3/4" garden hose attached to an impact sprinkler is used. There's nothing to worry about with this little guy This was much cheaper than purchasing a sprinkler pump, since sprinkler pumps were twice as expensive, but did not provide a higher volume of water per second as Although it can be a bit noisy, it seems to work well. As for a third one, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it if I felt the need to! Please click the Yes button below if you found my review helpful, in which case please click the yes button. Thanks a lot!.

This pump is perfect for rain barrels
5/5

To distribute water saved in the 55 gallon rain barrel, I bought this pump. I couldn't be happier with how it works! When I used a water can, it took me almost 1 1/2 hours to fill and empty the rain barrel on the plants, but with this little gem, it took me no time at all. Even at the top of a 20 foot hill, the water flow was just right. Although the directions are pretty vague, all that is needed is to screw in the brass fittings for the intake and outflow hoses, and then attach the rubber feet to the motor's bottom. After you add water and screw in the cap to the prime fitting, you attach hoses with the rain barrel, open the spigot at the end of the hose, plug it in, and it will function. save me a lot of time and make my work much easier since I don't have to carry watering cans anymore. It's great to see that it's still there after all these.

It saved me from having to pay plumbing emergency fees within a month after I bought it "just in case
5/5

". This is one I am glad I purchased. On a rainy night on my way back from vacation, I came home at night time. In my basement, there was standing water due to a blocked basement drain. There was a thick layer of sludge and it rose about 8 inches by the drain It was just a small leak in my basement since it slopes to the west. It took me no time to get this pump and get it configured and connected to my first use of it. I attached both hoses that came with it, filled the top of the pump with water and attached the strainer to the hose that went It would have been impossible for me to fix this issue without this, which would have required me to call a plumber late on a Friday night.

This Wayne PC4 1/2 HP Transfer Water Pump is standard
4/5

Pumps like this are fantastic. The pump is great and I am glad I bought it after reading several reviews. As for the cabin, I have not yet tried it, but I have tried draining a couple of five gallon containers. A bucket of water just so I can see what it's like. The quality of your work is excellent. A 5 gal. hose drains in no time using this device because the water is sprayed out of the hose very quickly. There were a couple of modifications I made. In order to operate the pump, I added a switch. In the event that the pump is plugged in when the switch is in the on position and is not yet ready to pump, you could damage it. A case I made for it makes it easier to carry with the attached switch as well. I also added a shutoff valve so the pump can be primed more easily. Just to avoid any foreign objects going into the pump, I leave the original plug in the shut off valve. Hand tightening is all there is to it. It is an excellent pump, which I'm looking forward to using next winter. I am very happy with it!.

The device is very handy
3/5

Make sure you understand what you're taking out of the box. That should give you some sense of its suction power because the device is about the size of a hotel coffee maker and its motor (between two cast-iron housings) sounds like a blender or sewing machine. That said, the machine performed just as expected for the job I had in mind, which was to empty a few thousand gallons of water from I used a heavy duty garden hose that was 25 feet long and sold at Ace Hardware for about $25 for the intake. I found the hose to be strong enough to withstand the suction of the pump. As the outlet was well below the pump, I was able to siphon passively with the motor turned off to give it a little rest during the job. The flow was steady but not extremely fast, but this worked for the job at hand. There is a possibility (as others have noted) of it being able to run for several hours at a time. * The pumping speed seems about right at about 1000 gallons per hour. This will do a good job for jobs that aren't as big as those that require a gas-powered transfer pump, but for large jobs, you may want to consider a gas-driven transfer pump.

I feel like this pump missed an opportunity to create a good product
5/5

Although it works well in pulling water through a garden hose, it could be much better. The strainer on the suction side of the pump is vital to keep the pump running, but the plastic strainer included with it is useless, and it cracked in half the first time I tried to screw it onto the complained about the lack of an on/off switch, so the user has to run back and forth to the outlet to turn the pump off and on. As a last item, the pump is top heavy, rests on 3 metal feet, and is covered by cheap rubber caps that come.
