Questions & Answers

The fittings at the inlet and outlet are what? Is it possible to connect a garden hose to it?

made of common pipe threads that are not like those on garden hoses. If you have a garden hose, you can use it with an adapter. This is a hot tip A PVC pipe fitting can be attached to a 3/4" garden hose as follows *br>When using a PVC pipe fitting, a short piece of 1/2" PVC pipe is used Once that is done, cut the fitting off of a common 3/4" garden hose, slip the end over the PVC, and then clamp it in place. Put the hose in hot water for a few minutes until it becomes pliable, then slide it over the pipe

It does not seem to be possible to increase power past 30 psi by turning the thumb screw on the front. In what direction should the screw be turned?

I am in the front row- Are you talking about the bottom? Instead of a Phillips screw, there is a tiny allen key device that controls the pressure. In fact, it goes to the right, but Shurflo said not to turn it more than a quarter turn at a time, and not to do

This would make a great rain barrel system
4/5

The purpose of this pump is to prevent me from building a platform to raise the rain barrel setup off the ground for pressure purposes. It is an on-going process that The demand feature is useful and allows us to use a sprayer/trigger nozzle anywhere the hose reaches in the yard. Without the pump, there wasn't enough pressure to operate In regard to male 1/2" As I read reviews and looked at the product data sheet, I was concerned that parallel threads would pose a problem (i. e. It was difficult to find a suitable fitting option). conducted while the pump was being shipped revealed that mating parallel threads were available only in metal hydraulic hose fittings (the pump manufacturer specifies that metal fittings shouldn't be used) or Shurflo's own fittings (which were In my own case, I used 1/2" NPT to PEX push fittings from a big box store without issues. The PEX is leak-proof and does not extend into the ground It is necessary to have a rigid connection because the pump vibrates when it operates.

Despite the pump's great performance, the connectors are a mess
4/5

A month after purchasing this pump on Amazon, another pump I purchased on Amazon broke. I liked this one because it uses a diaphragm rather than an impeller. It seems to be well constructed. The surprising thing is that this pump runs much quieter than the previous model. The fluid moves quickly once it begins to prime. The threaded connections are technically 1/2" NPT male connections, as noted by many users. The Shurflo's connectors are formed in such a way that they want to sell them to you. Pipe fittings with standard threads tend to cross-thread and harden to look as if there is an issue with the thread. You must be careful with the connections of the pump because they are made of plastic. As a last resort, I went to Tractor Supply and purchased the plastic threaded connections I needed. I take great care to make sure that I don't mess up the threads of these connections that were still tight to insert. When installing them, I held the pump body gently while maneuvering with a wrench to minimize the stress placed upon Now I have them fitted and hooked up to my hose lines and everything is permanently mounted and wired. There are no leaks and it runs smoothly.

Maybe one of the ones I received was built on a bad day or something? In the past, Shurflo has been known to build good pumps
5/5

My great hope was that this pump would work because of the positive reviews and the fact that I am disabled and do not have access to transportation. It barely works for about a day or two at best. I received mine on July 11th, and it is now July 18th, and it sounds like it is having trouble. There is no way for me to print out a shipping label since I don't own a My phone is the only one. It's in the original box if I want to return it, but that's all. I would like a new one and a return label to be sent to My intention is to return it as soon as I receive the return It could have been due to the fact that I received the pump on a bad day. As far as pumps go, Shurflo has always been very reliable. In the event my pump needs to be replaced, I will edit and update my rating. I figured out what was wrong and decided to fix it. It wasn't the pump that caused the problem, it was me and the way I hooked up the water supply with insufficient fittings. I am very pleased with this pump so far, but you shouldn't expect the seller to contact you about any problems you may encounter. As I searched everywhere for pictures of the sticker when I was looking to purchase the pump, I realized that it shows people a few things that they really need to know. But I was unable to As part of my review, I have included them.

I am disappointed
3/5

It was renumbered to 154) on August 23, 2018, and it began nonstop operation A week ago, we came to a halt. 28 March 2019. The period of time is seven months. As the pump started to run flat out, it ran that way for about 10 minutes before it finally closed off at the pressure setting because it had reached the maximum pressure. Over the course of a few days, the issue became increasingly worse until it ran FLAT The only way out is to never cut In the rare instances when the pump did operate, it only pumped a trickle of water with air bursts. Between the two halves of the pump housing, there is an air leak. In order to hold the screws in place, I tightened them (a lot of Amazon reviews echoed that experience). I worked for a day, then did the same thing the next day. It wasn't bringing much water to the faucet due to air mixed in with the tiny amount of water it WAS bringing, so I replaced the teflon tape on all inlets (suction-- It has been working properly for half a day now. As it went on and on, it did not pump any Discouraged (and REALLY anxious to get running water ASAP, I started researching repair kits for the problem. I discovered that parts and shipping were half the price of a brand new entire pump, regardless of where I shopped. As a result of the time expense, labor costs, and the possibility that parts might not be the issue, I just ordered a new In order to do this, I first have to take the defective one off, then determine if there are any warranty remedies. If not, I will inspect closer, repair, and use as a back up when the new "replacement" fails in the future.

I really like this pump! In the future I would like to build off-grid houses using this technology
5/5

My pump can be run on AC power, thanks to the solar panels, the inverter, and batteries. Additionally, I have a 12V DC pump that will be working in conjunction with this pump. Physically, they are about the same size, but this pump builds up pressure much quicker, pumps water a lot better, and is much better built than the previous pump. The reason I bought this was so that I can do laundry with it, since the washing machine would run off the generator, while the DC Pump would drain the battery banks. With the new pump, I can start the generator and start doing laundry, and the pump will There's no problem with the pressure switch - it works well, builds up pressure, and then shuts off properly. There is no plug on this switch, it comes with bare leads. You will need to wire it to a circuit.
