If you are looking for a pressure regulator, I recommend buying one that can handle 100 PSI pressure and can be set to about 50 PSI for your house side. I would also recommend buying a pressure tank with an air bladder of 100 gallons. If possible, you should only run your pump for long periods of time, and then let it off for the same length of time. The risk of bursting pipes under your sinks and flooding your house increases if you do not use a pressure regulator. Hope you have a successful career. It's rusty
The flow rate was 13 GPM, to the best of my recollection. However, this is usually done at the pump outlet, with no plumbing connected to it. Once you connect plumbing pipes of any length to the pump head, you will often find that the pressure and amp draw will increase on the gearhead and the GPM will increase as well. It has declined. As far as increasing my residential water pressure from 35 PSI to 55 PSI, my pump keeps me happy, but you'll need a pressure regulator if you want to provide water to a residence. You may risk having a static pressure of 100 PSI on your house plumbing if you don't use a pressure regulator. This may cause pipe bursts and or compression fitting failure.
In situations where existing inbound water pressure needs to be boosted, an inline pressure regulating limiting valve of 30 PSI must be installed prior to the pump. Generally, this pump is designed to last for five years or less. A year is all it lasted in this case. They provided us with a phone number for a local repair shop when we contacted Grundfos to get our warranty repaired. My call to the shop was answered by personnel stating that they do not provide warranty Despite my repeated emails to Grundfos, they never responded. In their last two years, the units lasted for five years each. In my opinion, this product from Grundfos is a lemon, and the manufacturer does not stand by their warranty. I do not recommend this product because the manufacturer is uncaring to.
In addition to others who noted this pump's short lifespan, I would like to also add another comment. Despite only being in service for three years, the pump fails. The city of Tacoma has two local service centers. There are a lot of benefits to just buying new and replacing this rather than having it serviced at $120 per hour labor with a minimum of two hours and It costs about 65 dollars to buy a "seal kit" according to the sales rep. We have a leak in our pump, causing it to run louder and make a higher/louder sound than usual. According to the rep, the seal may be dried, worn, or broken. In two Youtube videos, the pump is completely disassembled and shown to the point that if I or anyone in a mechanically inclined position could handle the service themselves, is is unlikely to be too difficult. Several service centers have told me the cost of replacing my air conditioning is $750. The price for one of these is much less than what's offered here. It was very simple to install the new pump. They are easy to install and auto operate when you live on a hilltop. A chip did appear in mine where the suction fitting hit the box because the box had been set on end by the carrier. Having replaced it with the one from my old pump, I am asking the seller to do the same since I intend to rebuild my old one. It has unique features, a high price, and a short life. Pumps like these work well and perform tasks that other pumps lack the ability to do. It has the down side that their quality is inconsistent and parts are hard to come by. Despite my extensive search, I have been unable to locate another manufacturer with a similar product line.
I have had a mean pump life of 3 years with this application. This works out to around $130 per year to own this pump, which is much too expensive for me. I will continue to replace this pump with the same model because I am so impressed with the unique features it provides, but I would prefer if Grundfos offered repair parts for the pump. In the current state of the world, I own a $500 paperweight without a simple pressure switch.
