The nail goes about 3/4" into the skin. If I need more penetration depth, I use a 3" deck screw in place of the nail. I frequently work with sheet rock and find that 3/4" is insufficient.

These clamps are ideal for securing 1/2" pex tubing. They're comfortable to wear and make pex routing much easier. I've been removing the nails and replacing them with six screws of equal length to increase the clamp's versatility. This makes it simple for me to remove and reposition them as needed. It's especially useful for me to be able to do this now that my installation is still in flux.
In my shop, I'm putting in over 100 feet of 1/2" PEX, and these snap tight to the line while still allowing for easy adjustment. With one hand, I can hold the line while the other drives the nail. If you're on the fence, just buy them. They're simple and effective.
Five of them had broken under the weight of the water-filled PEX tube just a few months after they were installed.
It was fine for the application, but not so much for tight spaces. Nails are a little too strong, making it impossible to remove and reuse them.
This is the problem- Bob is the one who gets the job done. They're fantastic.
This is as simple as it gets. The nail has already been filed down. ring shank nail installed, snug fit and foolproof.
Good.
They didn't work for my project because the nails were too short to penetrate the loists, so I had to return them.
