Can you tell me how deep the flange is? Is 5" the same as one and a half inches?

My guess is that it was 2. I am not certain, but I think so. As I wanted a "farm sink" which had to be a little thick I needed a 5

As far as we knew, the old part worked fine, we just wanted to update its appearance

The EZ mount for the Wasteking disposer has been replaced with a stainless steel one. These shoes fit as well as the original OEM shoes, and the all-metal construction has a more substantial look than the There was a brilliant shine to the chrome. Our old sink worked fine, but when we got a new sink, we wanted to update its look. We weren't able to find the rubber fitting, plastic retainer screw, and seals, and West Brass is only selling the chrome part. If using a cast iron sink, make sure to get some plumbers putty as well.

I would have liked to have it in a clamshell, but I don't have it yet

The product has a very nice heavy brass construction and a chrome finish that is perfect. There were several minor issues with the *ss clamshell package, and thus I only gave it 4 stars. Be ready with sheet metal shears when you open the package.
