Because it's a button, it's activated and deactivated by pressing it. When one of the outlets on this dual outlet is pushed, power is turned on for that outlet but turned off for the other. Then the switches were swapped when the power was turned off, ensuring that neither the garbage disposal nor the hot water dispenser had power at the same time. The Most Important Values
It's made out of genuine chrome. Ours is fantastic; it's right next to the sink and very convenient. A special hole was drilled for it by the plumber.
2 3/4" is the length of the air switch button.
When I got the item, the instructions said 1 1/4", but the answers said 1 3/8". I followed the directions and had no trouble installing it through a 1 1/4" hole in my stainless steel sink.

The switch above the sink is in charge of both power outlets under our sink. We had hoped that these outlets would be wired for half-hour operation. because we want to use a hot water heater (always-on one outlet, switched on the other) switched) and a garbage disposal (on). br>br>After looking for a solution, we found this Garbage Disposal Air Switch, which was the only power switch that alternated power between the two outlets, ensuring that both outlets were never on at the same time, which is important because we don't want to overload the circuit by having the dishwasher, hot water heater, and garbage disposal all turn on at the same time. br>br> My wife, on the other hand, was adamant about not drilling holes in the quartz, so I devised a way to mount it under the sink while keeping it accessible. I went to my local hardware store's plumbing section and purchased a 1-inch pipe. For less than $2, you can get a Galvanized Split Ring Pipe Hanger with a diameter of in. I was ecstatic with how well this worked out; it fit perfectly, as if it was made to hold this button! (See photos. ).
The button is made of stainless steel and is waterproof. I didn't want to drill another hole in the quartz counter because it was already crowded, but I found a nice flat space on the stainless sink that worked well for me; in any case, drilling a hole in the stainless sink was probably easier than drilling a hole in the counter top. Because the button was not labeled, I used a laser to write "waste disposal" and "push" on it so that visitors would know what it was for.
One of these had never been seen before on a garbage disposal, according to my husband. It took some convincing to persuade him that this was a good idea, but once we got it and installed it, he thought it was fantastic. In a sink that had never had one before, we installed a new garbage disposal. He didn't have to cut into the walls to install a new switch or rewire an existing switch because of this setup. He said the air switch was simple to connect and that he used the dishwasher electrical plug for power because we already had a hole in our sink top for a soap dispenser that I never used. This button was a perfect fit for the soap dispenser hole. When I want to turn on a light, I no longer accidentally turn on the disposal. I can also reach the switch while using the sink's water sprayer, which is an added bonus. Most people probably never have this problem, but because I'm short, I've never been able to reach both the disposal switch and the sink sprayer at the same time in any of the houses I've lived in. In my previous home, the wall disposal switch was completely out of reach when I opened the dishwasher to load it. I can use the disposal, wash the dishes, and load the dishwasher all while standing in one place with this setup. It's so handy that I'm not sure how we ever managed without it.
This contraption allowed us to plug in the garbage disposal, dishwasher, and water dispenser all from a single wall outlet, saving us money on electrician fees! We spent 4 years going under the sink to unplug the water dispenser/plug the garbage disposal every time we needed to use the latter, and it literally changed our lives. To be honest, it was absurd, but we kept putting off calling the electrician because we knew it would be expensive. While looking for an adapter for my dishwasher, I came across this device by accident. When I realized we'd be able to use all of our appliances, I was blown away! br>The device is in excellent working order and was simple to set up. 5 stars. Make it ten, not nine! br>br>UPDATE: br>br> It's still working fine after 18 months.
I purchased this switch based on Amazon reviews as well as the fact that it was "Amazon Recommended. " " This switch has been in place for about a year and a half. One and a half weeks It works about 80% of the time. The other 20 times, it gets stuck either on or off (won't turn off or won't turn on) and I have to disconnect the air% br>br>It was first noticed by my wife and one of my daughters, and it had worked fine in testing after installation. The "switch stuck" problem began after a day or two. br>br>I just realized that I can still return it, and I will do so as soon as I receive the replacement.
I didn't want to install a standard garbage disposal switch, and this solved a number of issues. You can run a regular duplex outlet beneath the sink (it will be on the GFI circuit), and then plug the dishwasher and garbage disposal into it (the air switch only turns on one of the two outlets). As a result, if you're keeping track. This means you have one more plug available (this unit has two receptacles but only one plug). So you're good to go if you need a plug for a water filtration unit later on. The product's quality is excellent. The brushed nickel has a fantastic appearance. When you're in a high-pressure situation, you'll want to make sure I'm very happy I did it at the end of the remodel. It looks and performs fantastically.
Also addresses the issue of tripping circuit breakers when our water boiler is turned on at the same time. If you don't want the stock color button, it turns out to be significantly less expensive than the leading competitor. br>Because I'm pretty sure I got a lemon, I'm hesitant to re-order. This is a grade that is far too low. The switch was disabled when water got into the air tube. I drained the tube, and it functioned normally until it was refilled. I'm not sure how it would work if there was a hole in the bellows where water could get in, unless the hole somehow ended up above the bellows when the switch was pressed. When Amazon had a sale on one, I replaced the push button and tube. It was from a different vendor, but it worked perfectly for a few months, with no water getting into the tube, until the switch itself failed. I'm guessing there was enough water left in the switch to eventually destroy it. One of these days, I'll probably dismantle it to see what's inside.
