Originally the cast iron flange holes were too large for the closet bolts due to rust and breakage. I just needed them to get the closet bolts back into the closet. The rest of the flange was still solid. As a result of not being able to get the entire piece of the product in place, I simply cut off an inch or two of each end so I could slide it under the flange and past the tile. I really like the quality of the item and it is quite durable.
