Questions & Answers

Is it possible for the BL1830 18V 3.0 to work with the BL1830 18V 3. Lithium-ion batteries have a capacity of 0 volts. Can I use a Lithium-Ion Battery instead of the BL1815 compact battery?

In fact, I'm using the same BL1830 18v 54w that you asked for. It has more suction power than any other cordless vacuum brand!

Isn't there supposed to be a battery included?

This Makita XLC02RB1W 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Battery listing is for a Makita XLC02RB1W 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Battery. A 2 ah battery and a charger are said to be included in the ion Compact Cordless Vacuum Kit. Others, but not this one, are listed without the battery. These responses could be applied to other products as well.

I'm having trouble getting to the filter by twisting the vacuum. Is there anything that could be done to make this process go more smoothly?

When the shell becomes difficult to turn, I've found that a strap wrench (similar to the one used to remove an oil filter) works well. Brush the threads out with an old tooth brush every time you empty it to avoid hard opening. A little dry lube sprayed on the threads every now and then (use a dry lube after it's been brushed clean so it doesn't attract dirt and grit) will make opening easier.

Is the charger a part of the package?

Yes, the DC18RC rapid charger is included in the XLC02RB1W (this kit). The Makita XLC02ZW 18V Compact Vacuum (Bare Tool, Tool Only) is a vacuum cleaner that does not require a battery or charger.

For small jobs, a small, lightweight vacuum is ideal
4/5

With so many 5-star restaurants, My expectations were high because of the five-star, verified purchase reviews. I'm not overly impressed with it after receiving it, and I'm debating whether it's a good deal compared to other cordless vacuums on the market. The Dyson sticks are included as well. I'm well-versed in cross-cultural communication. When comparing this to the Dyson, it's like comparing apples to oranges. Volkswagens and Porsches are among the automobiles available for purchase. Most people, including myself, I believe, end up looking at the Makita because they can't justify the price difference between the Dyson models and the Makita. Price, on the other hand, is one thing; value, on the other hand, is quite another. Benefits, of course, are subjective, and each person will have their own criteria, so value is the sum of the benefits divided by the price. First, let's look at the advantages and disadvantages: br>br>Secondary Benefitsbr>1. br>1. Lightweight and well-balancedbr>2. Very good suction (I'm not sure why some people complain about the suction; it's actually quite good)br>3. br>Maneuvrablebr>br>br>br>br> Lithium-ion batteries are lightweight and easy to obtain. Ion battery, which is found in a variety of Makita toolsbr>5. On steroids, it works as a dust buster. br>6 The power button/trigger is well placed and easy to operate, even though it does not lock in the on position.
7. Recharge times are quickbr>8. a good running timebr>br>br>br>br>br> The floor tool works well on both tile and wood floors. br>10. Consbr>1. Reasonably quietbr>br> The battery charger is more than half the price of this package ($95 on Amazon at the time of writing)br>2. The cost of a replacement battery is between $60 and $100. Although, given the quality of this battery, it is unlikely that it will ever need to be replaced.
3. The dust cup can be opened far too easily (just moving the floor tool in the wrong direction will open the cup)br>4. The filter collects dust and dirt, making cleaning and emptying it more difficult. Vacs with the cyclonic/windtunnel action, such as the Dyson, send dirt to a collection area rather than the filter.
5. No repurposing tools from other vacs is possible due to the small tube sizes. br>6. The floor attachment is also on the small side, with no motor or suction. powered beater action (yeah, I knew that going in, but when you consider the Dyson's *value*, this could be a factor). For carpets and area rugs, this will be of limited use. br>7. There is no HEPA filter (though one reviewer has made their own modification)br>8. Except for a crevice tool, there are no tools included that are suitable for use in the car. br>9. Plastic is a low-cost option. br>10. It's a beast of a battery charger. same pro- For power tools, this is a grade unit. During fast charging, it has a fan to keep the battery from overheating. It's difficult to categorize this as a 'con,' because it, along with the battery, is the most deluxe aspect of the entire package, and disproportionately so. br>br>Other considerationsbr>1. If you're a Makita fanatic with other LXT tools, you probably already have compatible batteries and chargers, so the $80 *tool only* model is a good option. Alternatively, get this and keep a spare (2 Ah) battery and rapid charger on hand.
3. I believe that the Dyson battery-powered stick vacs could (and probably do) serve as upright replacements; however, they are better suited to quick cleanups and small spaces.
4. Among its peers, this is by far the best battery/charger combination. In the end, I'll keep it. br>br> It won't replace my plug-in upright for general duty and carpeting, but it does fill a void for quick spot cleaning and dust busting. br>br>UPDATE 4/5/2016br>After about three weeks with this vacuum, I've discovered that I use it frequently. Because of its light weight and small size, it is ideal for travel. Its convenience and ease of use make it a pleasure to use. My plug- upright is dissatisfied with his or her situation. I'm going to give it a 4-star rating. The dust cup being too easy to open and dirt accumulation on the filter (3 and 4 in my original review's Cons) continue to be a nuisance.

Mediocre
3/5

I needed a cheap 2-bedroom apartment. One vacuum cleaner to clean the hard floors and rugs in the house as well as my car. I'm blown away by all of the 5-star reviews. There isn't much to say about this vacuum, so it doesn't deserve five stars. The battery does, in fact, charge quickly. That's a good thing. It also appears to be compatible with other Makita products (I don't have any). The vacuum, on the other hand, is mediocre at best. br>br>It does a good job on hard floors (though it can take a few sweeps to pick up everything), and it does a decent job on low-pile carpets. Carpet and pile rugs can be difficult to work with. It's not worth it! This thing isn't strong enough to pick up almost anything from a carpet. Because there are no real wheels on the bottom, you'll be dragging this plastic object across your carpet. Most visible debris can be picked up in the car with repeated sweeps over the same areas if the proper attachment is used. It's not particularly impressive, but it does the job. br>br>And once you're done, make sure to empty it out every time because the filter can quickly become clogged, resulting in even more suction loss. It's a bit of a pain to clean it out. So there you have it. I wasn't blown away, and it's only worth it if you're looking to spend less than $100.

Vacuum of excellent quality
5/5

I'm replacing a Black Decker that I bought on Amazon three years ago. B& D was a great vacuum cleaner that worked flawlessly for three years before the battery died. The internal battery was the only thing I didn't like about it, which is why I went looking for other handheld vacuum cleaners to replace it. I knew I didn't want a Dyson handheld because they're overpriced, and the worst part is the poor customer service experience I had with Dyson previously for a different product. br>While searching, I came across this Makita vacuum cleaner, and the more I read about it, the more I liked it. I do a lot of regular woodworking, and many of the Makita power tools are among my favorites. Because my 18V batteries work with this vacuum, and the white color (rather than the traditional blue/green makita color) is more suitable for indoor use, it became a much easier decision. br>I'll update this review if anything changes, but so far I'm very pleased with this new makita purchase.

My wife won't let me keep it in the shop because it's so good
5/5

I'm a do-it-yourselfer with a lot of 18v Makita tools. So I bought this vacuum cleaner to pick up sawdust, but my wife took it because it's so useful around the house. br>br>Because this vacuum is as well balanced as a good sword, my guests and I were thoroughly entertained one time (and this was hilarious) by watching her use it to pluck mosquitoes and moths right out of the air during a recent party because guests had left the patio door open. Note: Between hunting sessions, she stuffed a paper towel into the wand to keep the critters from escaping. br>br>I just wish they sold a handy hanger for it because I keep finding it laying around instead of hanging it in a prominent location on the wall. br>br>In fact, every now and then, I think about getting another one just for myself.
