Questions & Answers

The scroll saw blades on this machine are manufactured by what brand? My order has just been placed. Would you mind giving me a thank you, ?

I am very pleased with the Proxxon 02815 set (18 pieces), which consists of the 28740, 28742 and 28744 scroll Saw blades for DSH coarse pin blades for scroll saws.

Can the use of a respirator, an air purifier, and a shop vac eliminate dust problems when using an indoor saw for small projects (such as puzzle making)?

You pretty much have it covered, since the scroll saw produces little fine dust, you will be able to pick up the majority of it with the shop vac, the air purifier is a bonus, and the respirator will protect you. In addition, there may be dry dust that settles on the floor from the room, but not too

This method will work well with cut What is the typical thickness of dried oak that I should expect?

It is not something I would recommend. Using the plywood cutter for 3 months was a great experience for me.

It's a pretty good cut, I can see that Is 3/16th of an inch of steel thick enough?

Using a saw, though, would make it worse because it would cause the blade to smoke. It took a long time for me to cut some 1/2 black oak with my saw.

It is a good machine for the beginner, but it has one serious defect
3/5

It's not a bad scroll saw for its price, but why is it only rated challenging because two holes are difficult to mark. There is no template provided, so I suggest creating a template first. The hole on the right (facing the machine) is a truly stunning piece of engineering but it's rather difficult to mark without taking some parts off. It is awkward to mark the side hole on the left, but it isn't impossible once again a short pencil or pen can be used. It would be useful to have a template for this situation. I am attracted to the The lamp does light, however it casts a dim light almost yellow in color. I'll see if I can change it, or if I can get another bulb to work. A totally dark room would just about allow this light to be used. Having the control over the on/off/speed works fine, it takes a few seconds to crank up to speed, then it performs well, but if you try to use too much force it can bog down the motor (I was using very soft pine as the blade). When I start or stop, I'm going to get a foot switch for on/off so I can keep both hands on my work. When you get the machine, you will be disappointed by the blades that come with it. Get some Swiss blades (dndsawbladesonline. com/). I attached it to the table with thick foam, and I do not notice any significant vibrations on the table. A variety of adapters for non-US plugs Not knowing how difficult it is to mount the pin blades since it comes with them at the time of writing, I cannot comment on how difficult it is It will be my responsibility to update this status when they arrive. I did, however, attempt to find and order a second The items aren't available from Shop Fox, and although they list dealers who handle their stuff I had difficulty finding it online. I eventually found one, but I had to call for pricing, so I had to cancel my order. I guess you could do a better job of blowing through it if you put the hose in your mouth, but it does at least I was able to hold on to Using the down foot works well, and the blade guard does its job, if you have to cut small pieces, just raise the foot. Though the foot will block the cutting, I was able to cut a small puzzle piece fairly accurately, by slowing the speed down and working slowly. All in all, this is a very good machine for those who are new to the scroll saw. Although there are much more expensive machines out there, this one will do the job, do it slowly and take your time. Would you I would definitely recommend it, even if the minor downsides were present. Announcing an update I kept the saw going for about five hours today, and what I discovered This is a list of 1 in case you are unfamiliar with it. The light was mounted to the upper arm so that vibrations were reduced to nothing and decent light was provided. Secondly, you should have a good grasp of the language. Despite not needing to remove the plug from the bed, pin blades can be inserted and removed very easily. 1.
2. As you pin-up, you'll- You just need to adjust the set screws so that the blade is centered on the adapter so it works fine. As a reminder to loosen or tighten the set screw, I put a drop of CA glue on one and painted a drop of white paint on the other. Then add 4 to it. If you practice this a few times on the bottom, it will become a lot easier the more times you do it. You'll also have to remove the plug from the bed in order to insert it. The fifth point is the most important one. As soon as the bottom pin is inserted- In case the adapter comes off for some reason, get a wire hangar and cut about 8 inches long, put a small hook on one end, and curl the other end so you'll be able to grab it, then you can fish for it. The saw has no space for your fingers, so you can't pick it up and shake it violently to displace the piece of wood if you have bolted it down. I hope you like my phrasing as well. A small blower will do the trick, you just have to put it in the right position, so keep a phillips screwdriver on hand. The following items are included in It is imperative that the blade and speed combination used for cutting be appropriate for the material. Various charts exist in the internet for you to pick from that can help you make the right call. 7.
The reason for this is because there is no Hemi under the hood. By forcing what you are cutting you can cause the motor to slow down, so take it slow and easy, this is where not only the right speed but also the right blade combo matters. The following is a brief outline of the nine points. I have mine bolted to a bench, so vibrations of the saw are minimal, but some vibrations are transferred to the bench and cause things to move The following numbers are included in When I've spent hours working on it, how did it turn out? We just need a more comfortable stool to sit on for long hours. *UPDATE In order to use pinless blades, you drill a small hole, insert the blade, and saw from the inside. It appears that the design engineers for the pinless blade adapter had no idea what they were doing. process of inserting a blade through a hole in wood, attaching it to the adapters, and hooking them up must be one of the most frustrating parts of using the machine. The top adapter is easy, but the bottom one is problematic, so I deducted another star. I would like to offer you my advice. The store where you bought the scroll saw is worth visiting, I probably would have chosen a different machine had I gone there. In the meantime, turn the table around as far as it goes, remove the bed plug, bend the blade a little, then.

It was a perfect day
5/5

This was part of an Amazon Warehouse deal that I picked up. After it arrived in a box assembled but missing a couple of minor parts, within a few minutes it was running and cutting through a 2x4 at full speed, moving the piece slowly and pressed to the table very firmly with the saw not even fastened down. My words did not reflect what I experienced. The machine cut well, blew the dust away well, and made a normal amount of noise. I will not be scrolling 2x4's but did wish to test the limits. My main task will be to scroll 1/2" plywood using an Olsen blade, which can cut that material
I'm pretty sure the negative reviews are from very inexperienced woodworkers who do not possess the basic abilities to properly set up and use this saw (or any tool, for that matter). There is a lot of noise complaint from those that are letting the material jump off the platform into the air and then splat back onto it. In order to change blades, simply move the arms up, and plenty of room will be available. In addition to the ease of mounting to a bench, there is also plenty of space for that (one mounting is partially hidden, but still easily accessible).
I feel like I got a good deal for a hundred bucks. Choose some quality blades and begin cutting. Don't forget to pick up spare Bayonet (BA15S) Base Light Bulbs in 120V, 10 Watt. Including a junk bulb is a waste of money. It's not a big deal for me because my shop is well lit. It is a keeper in my book!

Overall I recommend this saw!.

I am in love with There was some difficulty in adjusting the correct amount of pressure (I was using a guitar tuner for this purpose, pinch the strings like piano strings to get the right tone every time at the same frequency) as well as the right speed on the blade, and several of them broke
5/5

The machine is quite a bit slower than the one I used before, but after several days of working with it I was able to make very precise and fine cuts in different types of wood. Noise is also very reasonable and there is no vibration. There is no limit to the number of blades that can be attached and accepts pin or pin not attached blades as well. This allows you to make cuts at different angles since the plate rotates. In the end, the product is of good quality. I am 100% satisfied with it.

Instructions and a user manual are not included with the setup
5/5

My Fox saw W1713 just arrived it came double boxed, but the outer box had been crushed and the inner box had holes punched from the inside. The saw was completely encased in intact, unbroken styrofoam, so I have no idea where those holes came from. As there were two layers of tape on the saw box, the box has previously been opened and retaped. As I had unpacked the boxes and looked into BOTH of them, I apparently could not find any instructions on setup and/or adjustment instructions. This is even though the label on the side of the saw stated that I should refer to the operation/user No signs of use or abuse on the unit, but it was just opened for whatever reason, and the user guide is missing. The following is the full text of the paragraph I am updating. I used this saw for a few days, and it has proved useful, according to me Firstly, enter 1. Pine, Maple, and Oak can be cut easily even with 1" of green (sappy) Southern Yellow Pine. It doesn't vibrate as is stated in other reviews mine is in fact not even bolted down to the 3.
The blade can be changed easily*4. Has the ability to make very straight cuts and make very tight rounded corners without the need for relief cuts. If you need to cut hard woods at any speed, it will lug slightly, you can lug down anything if it's fed too fast. I have a buddy with a more expensive saw than mine, and he is amazed at how well this scroll saw handles ANY cut. I LIKE THE SCROLL SAW SO MUCH.
