I didn't find it to be the best saw
3/5

This is an attractive but affordable option. I had a bad experience with the Genesis scroll saw, as did many of the reviews. In the first instance, the table could not be set in position no matter how hard I tried to tension it. The orange knob on the front of the saw is a screw. A set screw was removed and I replaced it with two washers, one before and one behind. It was then time to adjust the height of the foot. No matter how tight I tightened it, it was still loose. By placing a small piece of memory paper in the raceway, I was able to solve this problem. Last but not least, there is a large sticker covering half of the left side of the table. This should have been easy to peel There was no such thing as that. The edges would unravel no matter how carefully I pulled them- they would just pull down to the surface before the stick I used a combination of a razor blade and acetone to remove the sticker within an hour. Finally, I was able to resolve it by applying a layer of wax to the table to facilitate the material moving across the surface. We then put the saw through its paces. The device was very accurate at all speeds on all kinds of wood from pine to oak to poplar, cutting a small 3/16-inch diameter circle of wood. I plan to keep it, not because it's a great saw, but because it is affordable and does the job.

The activities it allows me to do are perfect for me
4/5

As far as my needs are concerned, this saw meets them. When I received it, it was equipped with a pin blade and blade guard. Those items were in a sealed bag, along with the feet, the screws, the allen wrench, the flexible dust blower, and two extra blades. It was easy to attach the feet and flexible hose using my left hand, as long as I firmly screwed all controls into their positions. My work bench is level, and I've tested the saw on it, and found that the vibration increases as the speed is increased. The vibration could be reduced significantly by eliminating the feet and using rubber washers and 14" lag bolts to attach it directly to the bench. It might be useful to add here that I will be using only the lower ranges on the speed dial for my purposes. Nevertheless, I am confident that if I should ever decide to tackle a 1-year program, I am in good shape. The 2-inch wood project will be very easy to handle with this saw. There is no noise and it runs smoothly. My arthritic hands are no longer able to use a utility knife, X-Acto knife, or any other sharp tool When I'm not painting in my studio, I'm going to use this scroll saw to continue to create the many crafts I enjoy. Since I have used my hands a lot for most of my life, I am currently recovering from recurrent infection in my fingers A couple of months from now I will have an operation on my left hand after reconstructive surgery on my right hand. When I use the Genesis carefully and attentively, I will be able to work one handed for now, and maybe even two handed down the road. There is no doubt about it, it is inexpensive and In addition to that, I'm sure that my retired father, a master carpenter and certified teacher of the trade, wouldn't have purchased that I still think this is an adequate choice for my crafty projects, and I think it's the best value for the dollars. ($100 or less. Originally received in an Amazon Warehouse Deals box that was damaged).

Though I have read bad reviews about this product, I haven't experienced anything like that
4/5

While I've read some bad reviews on this, I haven't had any problems with mine. Make sure that everything is tight and do not put it all the way to the max. You will not experience any problems once you become familiar with it. This is a great scroll to start with.

It is difficult to replace the blades
3/5

This is the straight blade. It is difficult to replace the blades. I find it difficult to use the straight blades. It is hard to use the speed control. A cratsman would have been a better choice.

An item that is dangerous is likely to cause injury
3/5

Over the years, I have been using a lot of tools. This is probably the most terrible one I have had the experience of using. I received mine without the rubber feet and with many loose screws. The design is poorly balanced, and it has an uncomfortable feel to it. As soon as I tightened the screws and placed the saw on a cork pad, it was somewhat useable. A fastener on the arm flew off after I had used it intermittently for about 30 minutes, making a painful contact with My 10 year old son and I were working on a project together so I was role modeling good safety by wearing them. I would not have normally worn them when using a scroll saw, but they did come in handy. Had I not had the cold, my cornea probably would have been scratched and I would have gone to the hospital. While the arm began to fall, it also worked itself into the workpiece, making it unusable. It's a pile of junk that currently occupies no space in your shop and is not worthy of the space.

The clamps at either end of the blade are too plain
4/5

The clamps at either end of the blade are too plain. Easy to use but difficult to understand. Changing blades is complicated because the guard in front of the cutting area gets in the way.
