The answer is yes. There is nothing better than this The workhorse of the family. It is light enough to transport from job to job, and that's what I love about it. There are only a few negatives, one being the poor dust collection, the poor quality of the bag.
When the saw is set to 45 degrees, it will only cut 8 1/2" max. Despite that, it is a fine saw.
Yes, but it's hard

This one seems to have been done with little thought. It is blocking the chop saw's locking pin because of the cord wrap. It's a little tricky to wrap the cord wrap because of the place it is located As a result, the light fixtures are placed behind the fence, casting a shadow on the entire cutting area. The cutting machine cut's out of square and vibrates too much when striking a cut (with a brand new blade, mind you) so badly that your mitered joint will never look right with no Don't buy a new one at full price, I will sell you mine for half price and I've only used it a couple of.
Please see https//www. nbsp It didn't make sense to me to spend $400+ on something with poor fit and finish, no matter how much love I wanted for this little saw. The saw had numerous knobs that did not fit properly. There was no locking of the slider. It is familiar to me to use older Makita-made tools from the US and Japan. The quality of this one was nowhere near theirs. There is a kapex Festool saw in my possession. This would be its smaller equivalent, and I wanted it to be portable and easy to carry with me. I found that this makita tool felt like a combination of harbor freight knobs and poorly made It was a really good film but I couldn't accept such an indifferent There were multiple stickers attached half way crooked on the saw. It's especially important to put on miter gauge stickers. A little more than an hour and a half was spent There was an issue with the miter and bevel right out of the box, but nothing serious. The problems I encountered led me to feel a $400 saw is not worth buying. In the end, though, it was the sliding mechanism that moved, no matter how generously the lock down knob was tightened. Some of the treads felt like they were machined half way. As a result, there would have been a risk of a saw sliding unexpectedly backwards to cause damage to the blade. Although the soft start motor was quite quiet, it managed to cut a few old growth 2x4s with no difficulty. Though, the blade included in the kit is top notch. It would be wonderful to own a better version of this saw made with better materials, had a better finish, and was put together with more care.
My observations made while working as a finish carpenter for a home builder were that Makita was a strong brand. Over the years, I have also used Makita tools for a variety of carpentry tasks and have had a positive experience with I invested in a Makita 8 1/2" slider on Amazon because of my nostalgia for them. Although they are a bit more expensive in some cases, they are well built, well engineered, and precise. Although I found it dismaying to find Makita has used cheap plastic parts in important places such as the miter lock knob, the miter latch, power/safety switch on the handle, and the bevel lock knob, once the package was opened. This miter latch, particularly, is a lot used (each time you change the miter angle), and it's rather thin and flimsy, similar to what you might find on a cheap children's toy. "What a junky part, I wonder how long will it last. " you imagine that you feel every time you make a cut. It really is inconceivable that they could use material such as this- I am very disappointed. It is the only negative thing I would not like about this particular model that the positive miter stops (90, 45 degree, etc. ) are a little loose. If you tighten it down (but where exactly in the slot do you do it- When you turn, do you always go to the left or to the on finish work, but about a 64th-inch gap on a long angle is significant. Other than that, the saw cuts well, the soft start is nice, and the fence and table function fine. There was a little bit of adjusting to do on the fence, but this is a common procedure with As a result of the small blade size and the configuration of the blade guard, it is difficult to view your cut line, which is one reason why a laser, or at least some notches in the guard, like those found on the Dewalt, could be helpful. Possibly the greatest feature of this saw is its small size and weight, so it is easy and convenient to transport. My saw has done a good job trimming out one house, so I will stick with this one rather than going through the hassle and expense of shipping it back and shopping for a new one. Although it is marketed toward the do it yourself market, it is priced a couple hundred dollars below their most expensive miter saws, and to be fair, it is intended for the do it yourself market. Therefore, I recommend this saw either to do-it-yourselfers who don't mind spending a few more dollars, or to professionals who want a lightweight saw, and who are willing to be very careful about handling the saw.
