Questions & Answers

What is the capacity of the cross cut if the entire sliding action is used?

I can cut 8" wide boards on a straight 90. I can cut around 5-inches on a 45-degree angle. 7/8". This saw was an excellent addition for me because I'm constantly working in locations where I don't have access to a simple power source (my generator is a beast and difficult to transport). It cuts cleanly, hasn't slowed down yet (even when working with wet 2x6 treated wood), and is extremely light and portable.

Can this cut 4x4 lumber? I see the vertical maximum is 3 5/8, but can it cut 4x4 lumber?

With a single cut, no way. You'd have to flip the 4x4 around. The blade is 7 1/4" in diameter, similar to that of a hand-held circular saw. I measure 2 7/8" from the tip of the teeth to the edge of the washer (at the blade's center).

What makes the dcs361b and dcs361m1 different?

The M1 is the European version of the vehicle.

What was the quality of the packaging on this product? Was there any damage caused by the shipping process? I don't usually purchase such large items online. Thank you for your time. ?

The saw was well-packaged to ensure its safety during transport. Mine was in excellent condition when I received it. The majority of the protection was provided by the manufacturer's packaging, which I believe was excessive. In addition, it's in a box. I hope this information is useful, and have fun with your new saw. I haven't used mine much yet, but I have done a few small projects with it and have been pleased with the performance (it isn't a cheap toy) and ease of use. Because of its size and weight, it's simple to get it out and start cutting, then quickly put it away when you're finished.

This is an excellent little saw
5/5

WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE FOLLOWING. Let me start by saying that this review is not for the faint of heart. Except for one thing that everyone should be aware of, I really like the saw. I've now used the saw on a few fairly large jobs, and it has improved my work life in general. So far, I've given it a five-star rating. Unless DeWalt produces something even better, I'd buy it again. With a score of only 7, I wasn't expecting miracles in terms of capacity with a 25" blade- wise, and I bought it primarily to cut small trim that doesn't require lugging around a large saw. It was pre-configured and ready to use right out of the box - Except for the scale pointers, I didn't have to make any adjustments. (The saw cut perfect 90 and 45 degrees in both directions when turning and beveling. ) I just changed the pointers to make it read better for ME. Those could have been ideal for someone else as well. I also used the thinnest, highest-toothed carbide finishing blade I could find to finish it - The blade that comes with it is perfectly adequate. a DeWalt carbide blade of excellent quality However, I am currently working on some very delicate cabinet/trim work and needed the finest cut/highest tooth number I could find. The blade indicator for shadow light is flawless- a lot more precise than a standard blade laser One minor quibble - The light switch is stiffer and more difficult to operate than it should be (it's hidden behind a small rubber dust/moisture proof cap - For my fat fingers, it's a bit too small. So, what exactly is the issue? The saw, according to DeWalt, can cut up to three inches thick. Standing up a 1/2" baseboard Folks, this is fake news. It can, but only on one side of the blade and in a limited number of locations on the saw. That's useful every now and then, but cutting baseboard with this saw will require a lot of flipping, laying down (and using the bevel), or flipping it upside down on the left, or other gymnastics that aren't required with a larger saw. One big problem with that approach is that a lot of 3 1/2" base you buy isn't parallel faced, which means you can't use the face against the fence for one cut and the back against the fence for another and get the same result. So I take a 12" (or so) scrap and invert it with whatever orientation I need. The difference between the two thicknesses - One up, one down produces parallel faces, allowing the cut to be reliably reversed. Because the average DIYer has no idea how to do this, the results will be highly variable. It wouldn't be a big deal, and the motor would have to be seriously offset in some way to give you the same clearance under the right side of the blade, which I wouldn't expect in a sub-$1,000 machine. This is a $300 tool. As a result, the capacity description is not accurate. It can be handled by a skilled trim carpenter, but the reality is that - Going from a 10 or 12" blade to a 7" blade means giving up a lot. Blade measures 25" in length. This saw is not a replacement for a larger saw, but it is an excellent companion to one. I also wish it could cut dadoes and kerfing (where the head is partially locked down) - However, this does not appear to be the case. Even so, it's a very useful little saw. Just don't count on it being your only miter saw.

Miter saw is fantastic
5/5

In hard wood, a 5 amp battery will last for 30 cuts. Simple to work with. This is a fantastic saw. I needed a miter saw because I live on a big farm. I was told to get a corded model, but I frequently need to trim or cut a fence board and may not be near a cord. Plus, I despise running 50-foot cords. For a simple cut, I used 100 yards of orange cord. br>br>This one has all of the reasons I buy Dewalt products, and yes, I am aware that the batteries are all proprietary and cannot be used on any other system. And you're stuck with Dewalt. br>br>However, I own one of the standard saws, a vac, a radio, a light, a jigsaw, a planer, and other Dewalt tools, and the quality is excellent, and I have plenty of batteries. This saw is up and running. br>br> I got the Dewalt sawhorse, and it clicks into place in less than a second. The material is strong and light. br>br>After that, I just need to plug in a 5 amp battery and I'm good to go for almost any cut I require. br>br>My only criticism is that it can only handle about an 8-inch board because a 10-inch board would exceed the saw's throw. For the final cut, my assistant suggests that I raise the board. I simply turn it around. br>br>If you want a great saw that's simple to use, well-made, and doesn't require a cord, this is it. If you're going to put up an entire frame house, corded is the way to go. br>br>In my opinion, Dewalt has once again produced a high-quality product.

I'm glad I bought it because it works great
5/5

I bought it to replace one that had been stolen after only two weeks. I'm glad I bought it because it works great. A battery will last one hour when doing cabinets. From five to two days is a significant reduction in time. There's a lot of molding and pine cleating in this room. Although the motor appears to run slowly, it has enough power to cut through anything I've tried thus far. The only disadvantage I've discovered is that if a small cutoff falls into the slot, there's no way to get it out without turning the machine upside down and shaking it or removing the cover, which takes time; small cutoffs must be avoided.

I was blown away
4/5

I really like this saw and can't say enough about it. It has a good cutting ability and is relatively light and portable. The bag collects dust well, but a shop vac collects dust even better. At this price point, I expected something that felt less expensive, with cost-cutting measures taken here and there. This is a sturdy little miter saw, much to my surprise. In terms of sturdiness, the bevel and slide mechanism are on par with my large 12". There are no drawbacks to this saw, aside from the obvious limitation on the size of the material that can be cut and one minor quibble I have: there is no adjustable cut depth stop. It was perfectly adjusted on the miter detents right out of the box. I tested 90 and 45 degree cuts and they were as accurate as I could measure. The bevel angle stops were slightly off, but they were easily adjusted with a digital angle cube and a 1/2" wrench in less than 5 minutes. I'd give it five stars if it had an adjustable cut depth stop. Expect it to be less powerful than your big, corded miter saw when it comes to cutting. However, you can anticipate being pleasantly surprised by how well it performs. I was also blown away by how precise and clean it cut.

This is an incredible tool! One of the wisest investments I've ever made
5/5

br>It was also unusually quiet. I never have to get up when I'm installing base moldings. I place it on the floor and drag it behind me as I walk. I can do about 300 more in a day with it and a battery operated DeWalt brad gun without killing myself all day with it and a battery operated DeWalt brad gun without% The only thing left to purchase is a DeWalt table saw for ripping laminate and hardwood flooring.

This saw is proving to be very useful! For my home improvement projects, this saw has been a lifesaver! I also have a large corded Dewalt sliding miter saw, but it's too heavy to carry around for quick little cuts close to where I'm working in the house
5/5

This book comes highly recommended.
