Here's why I gave it five stars: I have no experience with power tools. br>br> However, I wanted to install a cat flap on my hollow basement bi-fold door. I didn't have to let the cats down and back up all day and night because I folded the door. br>br>First and foremost, I am fairly certain that I purchased the incorrect power tool. That is entirely my fault. Alternatively, I could have used this one incorrectly, in which case it would be my fault. br>br>Secondly, I don't have a workshop. In the middle of my cramped kitchen, I balanced the door against some empty boxes. I also don't have any protective gear, such as safety glasses. br>br>It took me longer than I'd like to admit to realize that I needed to start on the outside with this tool, but with some gathered strength, I was able to angle it so that the blade could penetrate the door's center. br>br>Once I got started on cutting out the hole in my door, it was a breeze. The hole came out nicely, and I thankfully did not lose any fingers or injure myself. br>br>How could I not give this five stars if I Mickey Mouse'd a dangerous project with the wrong tool and it turned out great?.
When you use it, it moves in the same way. If you need cuts that don't require a lot of tolerance, this could be the saw for you. This jigsaw, on the other hand, is useless for making precise cuts. I'm sorry I wasted my money on this tool, and I hope you'll take my advice and look for something better. I'll take a $5, I guess. If it's even worth that much at a garage sale, it's a 00 item!.
About a month ago, a 40-year-old Craftsman died while cutting out a 1/8" aluminum sheet cutout. This saw was $34 when I purchased it. The saw continued where the other had left off, but with improved results. In addition, I was able to keep using my U-Haul inventory. blades with a shank I decided to write a review after cutting a few pieces of 1/4" aluminum plate (using Tap Magic Aluminum), and I see that it is now selling for $30. I think it's a great deal as long as it doesn't break in the next five years or so.
This saw does the job, but it's heavy, clumsy, and awkward to use; I bought it because I thought SKIL was a high-quality brand, but there seem to be a slew of other jig saws that are cheaper, lighter, and do a better job.
This small jig saw is portable and powerful enough for everyday use. For any typical task, the orbital action can be easily adjusted from zero to plenty. The variable speed can also be adjusted based on the amount of pressure applied to the trigger. The trigger pull is my only criticism. It's extremely sensitive, and even the tiniest touch can set the blade in motion. If you don't take care when picking up this tool and getting it into your grip, the blade will start chopping away before you're ready.
This is a fantastic saw. For the money I spent, it was much better than I had anticipated. Switching from 0 to 45 degrees is a breeze. Switching out the blades is also a breeze. It makes nice cuts, and I like that you can use U-shaped blades with it. the T-shape It can be used to shape blades.
The only thing I don't like about this Skil is that the power cord is shorter than the one on the sabre saw it replaces. Otherwise, it's perfect: it's comfortable to hold and cuts exactly where I want it to. The blower, which removes sawdust from the blade's path, is a particularly nice feature. I was concerned after reading some negative reviews, but the sabre saw I'd been using for 20 years performed similarly to this 5 amp Skil when it was new. I found no flaws in the Skil and used a variety of T-shirts to put it to the test. U-shank and shank blades, all of which are compatible with the quick-release system. Change the blade socket and you'll be able to cut without any problems. I was skeptical because this saw is about a third of the price of the one it replaces and performs just as well, if not better. Many tool manufacturers seem to have included all kinds of gizmos and buttons to do more than just cut a good line, but all I wanted was a basic "jig-saw" that could cut a good line. There are no bells and whistles, no blinking LEDs, and no useless gauges on this saw. " This is a fantastic deal!.
Instead of buying a new model, I went with a used one. So far, it's been great. I've been chopping up old documents. It's been very successful with broken wooden pallets. If you've ever used a jigsaw, you're aware that they don't vary all that much. I've only had it for a week or two, so I can't comment on how long it will last. This has three settings for various materials. br>br> varying thicknesses So far, I've only played with one option. It performed exactly as I had hoped. br>br>Changing the blades is a piece of cake. Simply pull down on the blade-holding part, insert the new blade (or remove the old one), and walk away. Nothing else, including chucks, is required. It can hold both t-shirts and t-shirts with a hole in the blades of grass blades, which is great because I'm pretty sure those are the only two styles I've ever seen in a hardware store. You can use any T or U style blade instead of Skil blades.
