Questions & Answers

Is there a dust collector on this one? Although the image suggests it does, some reviews stated that it does not. ?

A dust collector attachment is available as an option. Search for Makita 417853 on the internet.

Is it a square cutter? I've gone through two Bosch saws in the last decade, and their quality has deteriorated significantly. You don't want to spend money on the festival?

I've tried a lot of jigsaw puzzles over the years, and this is by far the best. It cuts beautifully as long as you use good quality blades and set the saw to the proper setting for the job. Only on rare occasions did it cut badly when I used cheap blades. I hope this has been of assistance.

What country does this product originate from?

The United Kingdom is mentioned in mine. It all depends on where they're making them at the moment.

Is there a way to get t-shirts for this unit? blades in a particular shape?

Yes, this saw only accepts "T" tang blades.

Cuts well, at a reasonable price, and is built to Makita's high standards
4/5

It's very smooth, with very little vibration, and I'm very happy with its performance (especially the quality of the cuts - see below). smooth as silk). However, because of the barrel grip design, I was expecting it to be a "one-handed tool," which it is not. It's a lot bigger and heavier than the photo suggests. I can get my biggish hand around it, but it's quite heavy, and I usually use both hands. That in no way diminishes the tool's performance, which is far superior to my old Bosch. Quick-change blades, which are becoming more common with higher-quality jig saws, are a big plus. big plus. The switch is mounted on the tool's side and is only on/off, with a variable speed dial on the tool's back. It does not stop when you drop or let go of the tool, unlike my D handle jig saw. If you're looking for an infinite variable, use switch(0-). max) This isn't your tool, as I believe it starts at 800 rpm. This is a good-looking, mid-priced jig saw from a reputable manufacturer. If you've never used a professional jig saw before, you're in for a treat. br>br>update- I've been using it for about two years and think it's a great deal for the price. The cuts are extremely smooth and have a low vibration level. For a jig saw, the ability to shave off small amounts is impressive. It can make extremely tight turns without bowing or snapping off the blade because the cuts are square. For the price, this is an excellent tool.

Within minutes of arrival, it was up and running
5/5

When the amazon driver arrived, I had a project planned for the jigsaw and was tearing apart wood pallets for it. br>I quickly took it out of the box, installed a blade, and was cutting in no time. br>The splinter guard was already installed. After doing some practices for accuracy, I came to appreciate thekerf of the blade and reduced vibrations, especially considering how similar the old blackdecker was to this, and stopped relying on the "V" as a guide in order to achieve accuracy.

A good Festool substitute
5/5

This is an excellent saw that is comfortable to use. The addition of an LED light near the blade was brilliant; it can be extremely useful when you're trying to do precise cutting and your body is hunched over the work, blocking direct light. I debated between this and the Festool, and in the end, I chose this one because of two factors: br>1) Cost - This is the most important factor to consider. Approximately $70 less expensive than the Festool Jig Sawbr>2) LED - That small amount of light is significant. br>br>Most jigsaws have similar limitations (e. g. , the blade can wander, and so on) and you'll never get past them (if you can't stand blade wandering, get a scroll saw), but once you get to this price range ($150), you're usually looking at a quality saw and it comes down to personal preference. Festool, in my opinion, excels at dust collection, which I don't think is a major issue with a jig saw. Makita is a brand that I believe doesn't get enough credit; you'll have a hard time finding much of a selection at your local hardware store. This isn't to say that Bosch and Dewalt are bad brands (I have a few of their tools as well), but I've recently made it a point to evaluate the Makita offering before purchasing. br>br>The only caution I have about this saw is that the systainer-style case shown in the picture is not the case that came with my saw. For me, it's not a big deal because I don't have any other systainer-style cases, but it might be for others. br>br>Another thing to consider is that before purchasing this saw, you should probably try out a barrel grip saw at your local hardware store. Not everyone will enjoy the experience because it differs from the standard grip.

Purchase a barrel

Make Makita out of your grip. I don't think I've ever used more than four Jigsaw puzzles. Over the years, there have been five. The cut was one of the things I really liked about this unit. I purchased some finishing blades from a big box store and used them in the Makita to cut perfectly smooth, square cuts through some white pine I was using for a workbench. It's amazing.
