Questions & Answers

Is it a 3 or a 1, and how many batteries come with it? 0AH or higher is a good number to aim for. ?

One DCB204 Battery (4 AH) is included.

Is there enough room in the case for one or two batteries?

The Jigsaw can be stored in the case along with a 5 AH battery. There are a couple of small compartments (for saw blade storage), but one of them could be used to store a 1. Instead, use a battery with a capacity of 5 AH. br>I hope that this information is useful. Steve

Is there a charger included?

Yes, the kit includes a charger, a box, and one battery.

Will this model (DCS331M1) work with the DCB200-A battery? 2 3. 0 Ah?

It will work with any Dewalt 20-volt battery. The higher the amps, the longer the battery will last before it needs to be recharged.

Selected User Reviews For DEWALT 20V MAX Jig Saw, Cordless (DCS331M1)

When cutting metal, however, use caution
4/5

This model, as well as a Dewalt corded jigsaw, are both in my possession. There is a noticeable difference in cutting performance, aside from the obvious difference that the cordless tool is much safer because I don't have to worry about cutting the power cord when using it. The cordless model cuts wood and soft and thin metals well, but it struggles to cut thicker steels and harder steels. It struggles to the point where I believe it is potentially hazardous to the operator, as I had to apply a great deal of force to the tool and it still wouldn't cut the metal. I gave up using the cordless unit to cut a piece of angle iron, for example. In fact, I took the blade out of the cordless unit and inserted it into a corded Dewalt Jig Saw, which cut through the steel. br>br>I've discovered that I need to keep a corded version of this tool in my workshop so that I can cut steel when necessary. For all other cutting applications, I prefer the cordless version. br>br>I like the narrow grip, the quick-change blade feature, and that it runs on 20V batteries.

This is a serious tool
5/5

It's a true workhorse that's also enjoyable to use. I considered giving this four stars, but the cheaply designed plastic zero clearance insert wasn't worth deducting an entire star for, so five stars it is. Likes: br>br>Likes: br>br>Likes: br>br>L br>br>blade modifications - Dewalt would have had to provide you with a personal valet to change the blades if it had been any easier. Simply practice for a few minutes to get a sense of when the blade is in the proper position, and you'll be fine. It's possible that by saying to practice, I'm causing even more of a problem than I already am. Power: br>br> I couldn't tell the difference between this and the corded Bosch I'd been using for years. Purpleheart is nearly as easy to cut through as 1" plywood when it is 2" thick. Of course, a lot of this is due to the blade, but if you're concerned about battery life, don't be. weight: br>br>weight: br>br>weight: br>br>weight: It appears to be the same weight as my old corded one. vibration: br>br>vibration: br>br>vibration: br>br>vib It's so small that it's meaningless. blade brake: br>br>blade brake: br>br>blade brake: br>blade brake: br>blade brake: The blade comes to a complete stop the moment you let go of the trigger - dust blower: no delaybr>br>duster: no delaybr>br>duster: no delaybr>br>duster: This is an effective method. It does a good job of keeping the cut line tidy. My old one (of a different brand) was supposed to have a blower, but it didn't work. quality of the cut: br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>b This has more to do with the blade than the jigsaw, but at the very least, this saw does not obstruct a good blade. br>case: br>case: br>case: br>case: br>case It comes in a nice, sturdy case. Not so much of an issue for a homeowner, but I suppose if you're a contractor, this would help protect it in between jobs. CONS: br>br> br>zero clearance insert: it's a joke, basically. Come on, Dewalt, you're capable of more. If necessary, increase the price by $10, but make a ZCI worth putting on the saw. br>br>price: if you don't already have one of the 20 volt LI-Ion batteries, it's a bit pricey. ION batteries and charger are pricey, but that's the cost of convenience (pun intended). br>br>So, in my opinion, the good far outweighs the bad here. In Dennis Miller's immortal words, "That's my opinion, I could be wrong. "br>br>Update: br>br>OK, I've had this for six months and I couldn't be more pleased. Granted, I don't use it every day, and it's certainly not my primary tool, but it's had about an hour of continuous use. That's a guess, since I only use it for a few seconds at a time, but I've changed blades a dozen or more times, and it's worked flawlessly on everything from 1/4" plywood to 2" thick Oak. br>br>Now comes the part that astounded me the most. I haven't recharged the battery since the first time I used it in almost six months; there aren't many hours on it, but it shows no signs of needing to be recharged, and I believe this is true even for Li-ion batteries. That's a pretty good ion. It's ready to use as soon as I remove it from the case. (For those who know Robert Heinlein's "Friday," there might be a Shipstone in there).

The ease with which I can replace blades is appealing to me
5/5

As advertised, I saw the work. The blade came loose while operating the saw, according to some reviews I read. This happened to me once, but it was due to my failure to fully engage the blade. It will not come loose once it is fully engaged in the collar. Simply push it in until you hear a click. Aside from that, I like how simple it is to change blades, and I was pleased to discover a flush-mount option. In the kit, there is a blade that can be used to cut things up. There was no mention of this in the on-line version. It was a pleasant surprise to come across this line add. DeWalt, I appreciate your kind words.

It's ridiculously cool
5/5

This saw is exceptional in every way. It was purchased to replace a Dewalt that had been stolen. This is my first cordless jigsaw, and I must say that the lithium ion battery is a freakin' scientific marvel. I hope the person who invented it has a harem and lives on an island. He or she is entitled to nothing less. br>br>Difficult situation - This is, in my opinion, a must. There should be one on every real tool that is designed for field work. The battery is self-evident, and what about long-term performance? Well - I'll just say that I recently built a pergola out of 2x10 PT pine with 28 curved ends - The battery was capable of handling ten times its own weight in There are 11 of them, and each of them has a charge. Simply purchase the item. br>br> It's ridiculously cool.

I've been installing a new floor and have used this saw to make dozens of cuts now
5/5

It's clean cutting, easy to handle, and has a long battery life. To this point, it's been faultless. So far, the blades haven't "wandered," and the scroll cuts have been precise and consistent. It's a lot lighter than the two corded jigsaws I have. So far, the battery life has impressed me as well. This is something I strongly suggest you do.

It's a fantastic tool to use because it's so easy to navigate
5/5

This saw is fantastic, and it's a significant improvement over the previous model. My corded B, which is 30 years old, It has the same amount of power as my corded saw but is far more precise and user-friendly. The blades can be changed with a push of a button in under two seconds! The saw has a great feel to it: it's smooth and vibration-free. The blade brake has an instant stop feature that works well, and the blower keeps the cut line visible. It cuts 34 plywood like butter, according to my findings. The cut finish is excellent, and I always use Bosch blades because they offer a wide range of blades from which to choose. It comes with a DW3311 zero clearance blade, so unless you plan on using it frequently, there's no need to buy another.

Very powerful cutter with nice features and a long enough battery life for a home project
5/5

I love all of the Dewalt 20v tools, and I now own several of them. I can switch batteries between my circular saw, jig saw, and other tools, ensuring that I always have enough charged batteries for whatever tool I'm using at the time. It works great and is far superior to my old black and decker, but that electric black and decker is also 20 years old. This saw has features that were not available at the time and, in my opinion, cuts just as well as any electric saw.

This isn't the same as what was requested
4/5

The saw was advertised with a hard case, which is what I wanted, but instead I received a Dewalt bag for everything, which was not what I expected.
