How Our Score Is Calculated

Product Description

Cutting materials ranging from hardwood to tarnish-resistant plastic with a Makita Brushless motor is easier, faster and more accurate
Electric motors use more energy than traditional motors because they electronically adjust torque and RPM to match the needs of each application.
With the speed control dial (10, 000-30,000 RPM) you can choose the right speed for the job
During operation, the speed remains constant when electronic speed control is applied
To prevent accidental activation of the tool and protect the user and work piece, there is a separate lock button located on the toolcase.

Questions & Answers

Is it possible to interchange the wired accessories with the cordless ones?

The corded router and cordless router that came with the corded model are both in my possession, as well as the plunge base that came with it. As it turns out, the plunge base mounts on the cordless router exactly the same way. All I can confirm for sure is that both models are machined the same way (although the battery compartment is positioned farther from the center, interfering with the full extension of the plunge base depth guide bolt, but only when the extant of that bolt has been reached As long as that is explained correctly)

Two wrenches? What are they for? Furthermore, why do there seem to be extra collet nuts? Are you ready?

The button can be used with either an extra wrench or the button and one wrench. A tighter nut can be obtained by using two wrenches. You can use this to avoid chatter in certain parts. A pair of wrenches is definitely more convenient if you aren't strong enough to hold them. I have an extra collet that is for a different shank diameter (3/8"), which is unusual, but my dovetail jig router bit is 3/8". Thus, I can use this router with it. A 1/2" shank router with an adapter is required if I needed to use a thin shank router.

Many people cite old batteries and small batteries, but I don't see any models mentioned. How do I know what kind of battery to buy?

With the battery of 2 Ah, this trim router works perfectly. The majority of heavy weights are good, but I wouldn't recommend anything more unless you are into a lot of heavy weights. Thanks to the 2 Ah battery, it is a pleasure to use and will easily power you up for the duration of the charge. This light weight product is bought because it is convenient and light in weight. Do not add a bulky battery that makes it heavy and bulky. Edge trimming and other light tasks are performed with the BL1820B battery when I use the router. You should purchase a larger router if you intend to use it all day long making large cuts.

The router is great, but the depth adjustment is cumbersome
5/5

There is no doubt that the Makita XTR01Z 18V LXT Brushless Compact Router is essentially the cordless version of the Makita RT0701CX3 1 This router has a 1/4 hp brushless motor, but does not have an air compressor. As a matter of fact, the accessories (bases, dust collection, etc. ) for both power tools are The XTR01Z ticks all the right boxes from a features perspective I. - A good balance of ergonomics and ease of use*- A high-quality battery that lasts longer than average. This tool allows you to "join" quickly and easily, although it does not have the same power or refinement as A minor complaint is that the bottom opening in the base just barely accommodates a guide bushing (Porter-Western The cable type) lock nut of some routers can be irritating if none are configured this way, but only on routers that depend on a bushing for offset routing. It is a brilliant router with an impressive set of features. If you can overlook some minor issues and the awkward depth adjustment, it may be the best cordless router on the market right now. When using the router for the first time, I set the depth to about 3/16 as to be careful with this tiny thing
5/5

The thing looks like a router, but it is really a small one. It was the first thing I did with it - cut some dice out of 3/4" birch plywood. Gluing in a piece of 1x for a miter saw base, I used a cheap Ryobi straight 3/8" bit to do a relief 1/2 inch deep by 3/4 inch wide. The first time I used the router, I set the depth to 3/16 mm to go easy on such a tiny little device. After starting to cut the motor wouldn't sound like it was doing anything, I made my first pass and then decided to set it at full depth and see what happened. I made three further 4 x 12 rolls, 3/4" wide x 1/2 "deep, each 15" long, using one pass in to cut half the width and one pass out to remove the second half of the material. The 3/16" pass did not appear to tax the motor in the least. I'm immensely pleased with my new Bosch compact router. It's more powerful than my Colt, and not having a cord means it handles and handles with much better Another point to note is that the dust collector attachment included with this kit does an incredible job. The board was nearly ready for glue up without needing a blow gun because very little dust was escaping. EDIT if you are already invested in Makita's 18v system, this is a must have. We've uploaded a short video clip of us using it with the plunge base and guide rail adapter to cut a 3/4" wide dado into Maple in a single pass using this router. Nothing can ever fail to impress this thing. The video is YouTube(DOT)be/PtbrySu6GzE. If you want (DOT) to work, delete it. There is no direct link as I cannot provide one.

Worth every penny almost as good as it gets
4/5

It has been a bit tough to use this thing, but so far I like it. Despite its imbalance, it seems to have plenty of power and is fairly well balanced. A very easy adjustment scheme with very good accuracy is what I like about it. It is also very convenient to have the light. In addition to my role in finishing carpentry, I am also a handyman. Routing devices are often used by me. Depending on the situation, I may need a cordless router for things such as working on various doors and jambs in a house or a six-story condo building. You can use it to make a deep slot in the bottom of a door for a track, but the batteries wear out pretty quickly. In spite of the way I thought it would work, it managed to do it surprisingly easily. This is the only reason why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. OUT OF THE BOX, this unit WILL NOT fit a standard 3/8 or 1/2 inch roundover or similar sized bit. If you want to modify the base using a hole saw, you could definitely do so, but that probably is against the manufacturer's intent and will void any It may be a good idea to buy another and modify it to fit these bits since I use them all the time.

In any case, I would definitely recommend buying it.

One more 18v tool added to my makita I bought this compact trim router 5 years ago, which is a battery-powered version of a corded trim router
4/5

However, the motor powered by a battery is more quiet and runs at a higher frequency. With the rack and pinion instead of rubber thumbwheels, the adjustable base can be adjusted. It is fully locking with a sturdy toggle clamp at the base. It is still a little finicky about getting the cutter depth just right, but it is better than the I was initially concerned about how heavy the battery would feel since it is atop. It is getting to be a habit, but I may get a smaller battery - In place of the 3AH I usually use, I will use 5AH. It is best to provide two wrenches for bit change. In most cases the spindle lock button is of very little use unless the router is clamped down or mounted on All my Makita tools have yet to wear out on me, and I expect it will last just as long.

Router that is versatile and very capable
4/5

The best of both worlds The device is built to last, but it is also small and comfortable. Great visibility is provided by the dual LEDs and fan blowing onto the workpiece. The router thus far hasn't been pushed to its limits, but it can easily cut 1/4" x 3/4" grooves (for example) in one pass and shows no sign of anything being problematic. It is unlikely that I will ask for much more of it in the future. A brushless motor should last for a long time, and it should be efficient. Can you explain why four stars are only enough? It's nice to have metal construction in the base, however, the sub-bass unit isn't up to par Several large bits won't fit through the base because it has a relatively small opening. I could probably find a way around that issue though, and I don't use large bits very "Almost perfect" is how I would describe it.
