I really found it a challenge to install the router motor into this base. I think the base is just a hair too small. It is hard to get the motor seated and inserted The product is not at all what I expected from Bosch. I was told elsewhere that Bosch products are no longer what they once were. My own opinion tends to agree with yours. Obviously, if I had the choice to make all over again, I would have gone with a different brand. However, I had already made the investment The good news is that it works just fine once it is set up and installed correctly. With precise control, you can control how deep the plunge is.
The base for the Bosch Colt router is very well made. Considering I have a larger plunge router, I did not consider this a high priority. This is because my son gave me a Bosch edge guide, but the original base didn't fit the guide. The size of a P Its plunge base allows it to be used in any direction. It is much easier to install (and uninstall) the Colt on this base than it is to accomplish the same thing on a P-34 Although I found the plunge lock lever on this base to be a bit difficult to use, I suspect other people, like my son, won't have a problem with it. own a Bosch Colt, this is an excellent addition. It will allow you to use it in new ways.
Despite the fact that I have no complaints about the PR20EVS router I bought, I was forced to work free hand because I could not use a template guide. My confusion was caused by all the accessories and what would fit, so I emailed her, told her the details of my situation, and I received an email from her the following day explicitly outlining It was so clear that she was With the Bosch 8-inch plunger base, I can now use the Bosch 8-inch machine Set of three Router Template Guides, including a quick changer RA1128. The base of this unit is clear and circular, not square as was the case with the PR20EVS. Compared to all the big box stores, the price on Amazon seemed to be a little expensive. My satisfaction with it is great.
As I read various reviews before making my purchase, the majority of them stated that their router would not fit into the PR011 plunge base due to a manufacturing defect. I ordered the plunge base anyway and the first one I received would not I had to request a replacement and it also had the same problem. Lastly, the third plunge base I received worked just fine. Though I am pleased with the product, I think it's absurd that this product is still being sold despite having a known defect.
I have returned it and will buy one that originally came with the box. Keeping it that way is safer. I found it to be well made for what it does. I was completely satisfied with the delivery. In the same vein, I hope the return will be the same. I will let you know if it wasn't! It has been 6 days since I sent my request, and still no refund has been received. In general, UPS will refund you as soon as your item has been scanned in. I have yet to receive my refund this time.
Last week, I finally had a chance to use it. Almost all of my routers failed to fit into the plunge base, as had some others before me. Since it was a tight fit, I didn't want to force it as some other folks had done and not get it apart. The base is made out of very soft aluminum, so it does not slip very easily. After filing down the pin a little and honing the inside of the plunge base opening with wet/dry 320 sandpaper for about half an hour, I was ready. After that, I put a liberal coat of car wax on and finally got it working. There was no craftsmanship or machining on the base, so I was dissatisfied. It's fairly common for Bosch to make good quality tools, and I've got a few others that I own, but this plunge base isn't one of them.
The performance of this addition has been better than anticipated. Based on all the reviews I read, it was not compatible with those Bosch routers. It does, that is for sure. When you put it on for the first time, it's a bit snug, but not too much. In order to build an office desk top, I used it to cut mortises for Z clips. The only thing I could wish for is to be happy. In addition, I also bought the edge guide recommended in the article. The book is highly recommended as well!.
In order to mortise latch plates and hinges on two doors, I used a Bosch PR20EVSK router along with a Milescraft template. As far as I know, I have limited experience with routers, but I will soon try making an edge profile for a plaque.
I had a lot of troubles setting the standard base to the right depth once I took into account the offset of the template guide and the hinge thickness. On a 2x4, I cut several test pieces but made small adjustments that didn't turn out well. The collar of the base has some movement when it is adjusted, and the little wheel is of very little use. The setup problem, as well as issues while mortising on the jambs and doors, were also an issue. When the collar loosened, there was a risk the tool could slip deeper into the material before I could intercept Many different ways have been tried to hold the router but everything just stays the same. Using this new base, all of that is a thing of the past! You can easily change the depth of the boat with the scale on the The fine adjustment is done with the screw on the tip of the rod that has numbers. By twisting it a few times, you can get a feel for how many twists you need to make. I can reproduce the results as there is only one position to put the motor in the base. Having the rest of my doors replaced is something that I look forward to. It probably needs to be developed a bit more For the ultimate in thickness adjustment, it is not possible for me to put a hinge between the stop and the rod. As I have to reach the depth that I need, the highest stop is not an option. As of right now, this is the only position with full left access. When the plunger hits the bottom, it blocks the right. The other manufacturers who sell similar products have come together to form a new product category Bosch products. Dremel isn't so serious when it comes to compact plunge routers (sorry). Perfect! Thank you so much!.
