The Dust Extracting Attachment did not come with my Router kit, if I'm not mistaken. Add-ons are not included in the main product. The Dust Right Flexi Port Dust Canister or the Dust Right Power Tool Hose Kit will be used with it, either attached to the Router or with the Rockler Dust Right Flexi Port Dust Canister. So far, I have not had any issues and that is my setup when employing this router.

There are two small clips that snap into place perfectly on the It would be nice if Makita included these with their routers.
The reason I chose this dust collection method was the fact that my Harbor Freight compact router required dust collection. A nearly perfect fit can be found here. used an exact blade / box cutter to score and shave 1mm off the upper corners, then I used a plier to gently bend it off at the scored line, and now it fits perfect. I have had great success with this. I can also use the hose from my shop vac with the outlet. I strongly recommend this book.
As expected, it works like a charm. When routing, it is definitely necessary. My Makita cordless compact router fits perfectly in this case. The plunge base can't be used with this piece. There is another attachment that should go with the plunge base, not this one.
I will start off by saying that the adapter is marginal at best. Nevertheless, it seems to reduce the flying chips a bit, but I still hope for better results. As a remodeler, I was hoping to reduce the mess I make by using a router in a finished home, as well as the consequential clean up time. However, when used with a template guide, such as routing in a hinge gain, this device There is no longer any place for debris to be sucked out of the guide, resulting in a minor reduction in mess, which is especially undesirable considering the additional hassle dealing with the vacuum.
To mortise hinges, I bought a Makita palm router. I couldn't believe the amount of wood chips I and my work area had been covered in when I first took out the blade. In spite of reviews saying it didn't work or that it didn't work well, I decided to order it. I think they made a mistake. Rockler's Dust Right adapter allows me to hook up my Ridgid shop vac to my 5hp Ridgid and there are no chips or pine shavings on my worktable or me. It is definitely worth checking out.
The addition of a battery router to my little Makita is a real plus. The receptacle allows me to use the router even in the garage or at home without having to worry about any sawdust getting only problem is the small screw that holds the router to the frame. Even though there isn't a ton of wiggle room with this device, it will definitely pop off every so often, depending on how you connect the attachment or the vacuum hose. Personally, I've used a hose clamp to hold the attachment in place while I used a large hose clamp to go around the router. Even if I stay on top of it, it doesn't happen often, but if it does, the whole day will be ruined.
When I first tried running my router freehand, the fine dust and chips covered my entire work area. Yuck! I usually use a router table with an exhaust port for routing, but I was surprised at how clean it looked. It is a very important accessory and should have been included in the router package, but I'm glad I was able to pick it up so quickly. Although the hose that comes with the shop vac is a pain to drag around, it works great and is easy to install. I think a genuine FLEXIBLE shop vac hose should be produced.
It was almost impossible to escape dust or chips from the The hoods obscure the view of the cutter a bit, but not enough to deter me from using the router. I wouldn't use the router without them. There are two things you must have An adapter or hose that connects to your shop vacuum is 25 inches long. My experience with the hose was that it was a little awkward to drag it along, so I think that using an adapter and a larger hose could be quite cumbersome with fine work in a tight space.
