Questions & Answers

When cutting with the side of a straight bit, does anyone have an answer to the correct way to correct bits that move out of the collet and towards the work?

If the bit had bottomed out in the collet, it would be strange. The bit must be inserted, then pulled back a short distance, and the collet tightened. If a bit bottoms out, it tends to come undone.

The bit that fits this router is what size?

This product has a 1-inch A maximum bit diameter of 1 3/8" can be used. If you use a bit with a maximum diameter of 1 3/8", do not make heavy cuts as that might overstress Light cuts should be taken, and depth or horizontal cuts can be increased incrementally, as long as they don't affect the router speed.

Is it possible to have a bulb with 220 volts?

To run the tool, you must always make sure that the tool is set to the correct voltage on the data plate. It is risky to run 115 VAC-labelled tools on a source that is 200 to 220 VAC. In the reverse situation, a tool that is placarded for 220 VAC will not function on 115 VAC. A bulb would have to match the voltage of the input. If you need to repair a tool, check a hardware store or tool repair shop.

Do they make it in the United States?

My best answer is that the router appears to have been assemble in Mexico, according to the label. Your components do not appear to be made in your area.

with cheap tools is that they last for a short time
3/5

They are prone to quality and design issues. While I love the Bosch laser level and leveling tools, drill bits and saw blades, this power tool is a dud. There is a problem with cheap tools, including this Bosch router, which is that they last only for short periods. My computer died just as I was starting my first project. I worked on it for no more than 15 minutes before it started smelling, smoking, and eventually stopped working. The other flaw is the lack of a center line on the base, so it is harder than it should be to set the side guides precisely for the base. While trying to align the drill bit to the depth scale without noting the mounting procedure for the drill bit. My father always used Bosch tools, and my father used to say that they were the workhorses with exceptional quality, and that's why I'm so disappointed. Bosch has been in our family for generations my father used Bosch tools and they used to last. Because of Amazon, I am able to return this item easily, and I'll stay with the "yellow" brand, which is far more scalable for me when it comes to power tools.

The Bosch palm router is being swapped out for a DeWalt palm router
3/5

This router is not working for me any longer. It slips on about 50 percent of the projects I've used this router on, no matter how tight I tighten the end mill. This has happened on over 50 percent of the projects I've used it The end mill would slip and I would have to stop over and over at each depth level to check for tightness and to check depth, but all my effort would have been for nothing, even if I had not considered the associated project I'm not on board with Here's my chance to see what DeWalt has to offer!.

The tool is great, but buyers should proceed with caution
3/5

We gave Bosch two stars because the tools hold up extremely well and are very durable. My company uses these at work and they are wonderful. Buyer beware though, my unit was damaged and looked like an airplane had fallen on it. People certainly managed to dent hard plastic cases like these, which is not as easy as it appears. Definitely not acceptable. It was the included case that actually sold me on this model over the newer model. I would not recommend this There is a real kicker in that the Amazon box is in perfect condition, so they packed it intentionally damaged and sent it.

Then you should buy something else
3/5

The depth setting will not be retained. There were other negative reviews for this router and I should not have bought it. As far as I can tell, I listened The two most important things to do are 1) read the instructions thoroughly (on the off chance the other negative reviewers did not) and 2) try it out first on a scrap piece of oak with a freud roundover bit before using it on a real project. Despite the depth setting being held, this router does not hold its After I started gently and carefully beginning to lower the oak piece, the setting started to slip to a deeper level. The Bosch 1617 is a great tool I have the larger model and it has been great so far. There are no issues with it at all. The Colt is a bad choice.

In shops, a standard router is used
5/5

Buying 6 of these routers to replace all of our Porter Cable routers was an excellent decision for the shop. In a commercial manufacturing shop with guys who are known to be rough on their tools, their primary duty is routing laminates and light corian edges. PCs would last a while, and then we would have to replace the switches which would wear out, put new cables on them after the wire broke at some point in the cord, and replace the brushes constantly. During the past three years, we have not had to change anything about the Bosch Colts. There's nothing to worry about. People who experience problems with this router seem to come from a combination of people who are not familiar with using a router or what size router is appropriate. The 1 HP palm router has a LCD screen. This is how it should be used. It's no mystery why 3 HP plunge routers are more expensive and why they occur in the first place.

I miss you
3/5

In my opinion, variable speed isn't really needed in this tool, so it would be okay to get the fixed speed model instead and save some money. The clamping lever must be locked in position before fine adjustment of cutter height can be made. You can't simply lock the clamping lever in place without anticipating how much that adjustment will shift. In fact, it is explicitly stated in the manual several times. Knurled adjustment knobs in the grip allow for fine-adjustment There is a problem with the wheel being difficult to turn, as it becomes This tool is suitable for working on a wide range of geometries It's pretty darn important to have solid height adjustment. There is a sketchiness in the height adjustment, which is why I down-rated This review has been graded.

It's great to have connections as well as the It's a bit hard to judge the rest, but I'd give the router five stars by itself The angle attachment 5 and the stars The stars are also good
4/5

The edge guide was given to you in 2 The program moves around too much, which is why it receives only three stars. There is a good chance that it will be replaced soon. It was mostly for the router an angle attachment that I bought this kit because I was required to modify some rather expensive stair rails in order to allow the balusters to be installed at the proper angle. The existing square holes couldn't be hogged out with a Dremel tool, so I did not want to ruin the rails by doing that. Eighty-five people are involved We have two staircases to modify, and each staircase has two holes to be modified. A small jig I built is exactly what I needed. I used an angle base and a down cut spiral bit. It worked perfectly. It may take me time to get used to the offset base, but I got the entire kit cheaper on Amazon than what I could have paid locally for the router and angle base. In any case, they would have had to order the angle base.

Despite its small size, this machine packs a punch I recommend that you buy it
5/5

The work I needed to be done required a smaller router. Unlike my larger router, which is under a router table, the Colt is more compact and I find it more convenient to use for basic tasks like rounding over corners, flush trimming, etc. My first impression is that it is much quieter than My hearing protection is still worn, but it is almost unnecessary unless you wear it all day every It's nice that the router came with a wrench and I think the collet lock is great. The depth measurements of the router are etched clearly on the body so it is easy to change depths. Ultimately, I feel that this purchase has been well worth it. The edge guide will probably be bought in the future, but for the moment it does not work like I expect. This centering cone is something I strongly recommend. There were a few adjustments I needed to make to my router base, but nothing major. If you buy this, you will be happy with it. Choosing your first router can seem overwhelming, but this is a good place to start. This one will stay, even if you upgrade in the future. The five stars are well deserved! It's two thumbs up for this!.
