Questions & Answers

If you purchase a 1617evs router, is it necessary to get a ra1165 under table base to adjust the height of the table over the There is no indication that it is required in the description. ?

As it stands, you are not able to You are going to need this You can buy it from the store. In any case, you may still want to consider buying it if you plan to use the router above the In order to avoid the hassle of getting the router's base (with the two handles) installed under the router table and having to convert it later to non-router application again after installing it under a router table In addition to the RA1165 under table Router Base, Bosch is also able to offer an RA1341 under table Router (sold separately) The RA1165 router base is designed to be permanently attached to your router table, allowing you to use the router base that comes with the router for some non-routing tasks and projects. You should use the table. It would be great if other router manufacturers jumped on board as well.

Do you know whether it is made in the U.S.?

It is a pleasure to answer Mexico is the country of manufacture of the Bosch 1617EVS router. The Robert Bosch Tool Corporation is committed to a robust global manufacturing strategy, which includes our network of vendors as well as manufacturing locations across the world, including Germany, Mexico, Switzerland, China, In additional to the high quality standards at our manufacturing facilities around the world, the Bosch Group also owns and operates most of these facilities. No matter where your Bosch is made, you can be assured of its quality. This applies to products made by any company, including

Are these routers available in Europe on a 220 Volt power supply?

Bosch has just shipped out a new (GOF 1600 CE) router to our company. Two bases came with this router that operates on 220 volts. As the power switch is situated on the handle of the router and not on the motor, the use of a conventional router lift is not possible. Several different types of bases were provided with the unit, including a diving base and a non diving It is possible to mount the router on a table using the non plunge base. A kit to make the router work in a proper router lift is what Bosch needs to solve this problem.

Does this work with my Porter Cable 4216 dove tail jig or will I need to buy optional bases to go ?

In my experience, anything can be accomplished with enough duct tape, screws, epoxy, and the good ol' American ingenuity! Though, in all seriousness, I do know there are multiple screw holes on the base plate, but am unsure whether or not they will line up with the Porter Cable Jig. As a new owner of this router, I understand how great it is, but it is not the first router It is powerful enough for larger bits and provides smooth, precise adjustments while being easy to handle. I have found this to be quieter than many other devices

The perfect CNC machine for any shop! A CNC router is a great place for this! Having used this router on a CNC router for the first time, I have put it through the wringer with double hockey sticks
5/5

Besides wood, I've carved steel, aluminum, and signboard, and I have carved V-structures on hard and soft steel. My bottom bearing was finally destroyed by carving a 1-inch hole in the bottom after about 20 hours a week of continuous running for two years. Using a solid piece of soapstone, I made an awesome grooved serving tray and cutting board. Dust created by the router got into its bearing and caused it to become noisy. The router still operates perfectly well. It ran for another year after that, but I finally replaced it with a new one, and I will be sending it in for a full bearing replacement. The price of this router is extremely competitive at $149. My last Porter Cable router lasted about a year. I burned several Craftsman routers in about a month. In the end, I decided to give the Bosch 1617 a try, and I have not been disappointed. Although you must use two wrenches for bit changes, my experience with other routers that use the push pin locking mechanism and a single wrench shows that the push pin lock usually breaks off after a short period, so you're still forced to use two wrenches for changes. There could be a benefit to using the spindle locking mechanism used by the 1619evs (which I also own), but I have never had an issue with the two wrench system. The wooden handles work great with this tool, too. If you argue about the switch being in the wrong place, I would agree, however, all routers of this design, such as PC, Craftsman, Hitachi, etc. , have the switch located in the same location. In order to use a trigger switch, you should buy a plunge router.

The PC competitor does a better job than the Asus, however the base plate needs improvement
4/5

I bought this router to do dovetails and dado work, as well as edge routing and edge-to-edge routing. In addition, I purchased a PC 892 and a PC 690LR. When I held all three routers and turned them on, I promptly returned both PC routers as they simply did not have the same level of refinement that this one did. As I own a 7518 in a table, I am not bashing PC, but I am most impressed by the Bosch products that run so much more smoothly, exhibit far less vibration, and emit far less startup and bearing noise. I feel that the router's biggest weakness is the very poorly designed template guide adapter for running PC style guide bushings and even seems to have too much play for accurate operation. It also doesn't show through the base plate because it's black For those of us who like to look at what they are routing, that's not a good thing. The Infinity Tools company offers a new clear base plate that fits PC style guide bushings that can deal with both of those issues. In addition to its clear and acceptability of PC guide bushings, it is thicker than the standard plate, allowing for greater stability while When you purchase this router, budget $40 for the centering plate and insert and this router will make a 4-inch bit The perfect router is one that transforms a star.

There is no better way to do it

Despite my distaste for plunge bases, I have no problems with them. The quality of this motor is exceptional if you're purchasing it to do woodworking. Although I am not a big fan of plunge bases, take that into consideration. The pros are I. - It is very easy to adjust the height of the lock*- Adjust the speed of the machine to meet your needs*- Great control of the ball, very nice ball handles - In general, the whole thing seems pretty skookum. The cons are I. - There is a lot of soft aluminum in the router's body that is easily scratched. It's - My collets did not measure 0. They are not precise at all! With a 1/4" collet I have a runout of 0. 004" at the base. Nevertheless, this is perfectly fine for woodworking! In spite of this, if you're planning on using a CNC setup to cut metal, I recommend purchasing a collet kit aftermarket. You might want to investigate The PlatformCNC router table recommended by Brian Oltrogge on YouTube is a good option.
