Questions & Answers

This product works well to remove light scratches from stainless steel flatware. Can I use it to do that? When applying a color, what is the correct choice and how should it be applied?

In order to remove light scratches from stainless steel, use the green compound. I used it on a stainless steel watchband and it worked well.

Would you like to know the grit of this product? Let's talk microns. ?

It was nice to receive a quick response, however, I found the information to be utterly unreliable. As of today, this is what I have Below you will find a list of our buffing compounds and the grits they use A product specification for D2901 Rouge Buffing Compound can be found here A period of time between 1500 and 1600 Wet paper with a grit of 2500. - - D2902 Green Extra Fine Buffing Compound - - The range is between 400 and 500 Sandpaper with a grain size of 600. *Impact Buffing Compound in Green - D2912 - The number should be between 150 and 200 The grit of this paper is 220. This is the D2903 White Buffing Compound. At least 100 but not more than 200 This paper has a grit of 120. This compound is used for buffing and polishing various surfaces A person between 40 and 50 years of age It has a gritty finish of 50. The Tripoli Buffing Compound D2905 is available at www.decorativefinishing.com. A person between 60 and 70 years old A fine grit of 80. Upon asking again for micron size information, they responded that they do not have it.

A brief description of specs What are the dimensions of the product, e.g., in microns?

When you are referring to the green, it depends on which one you are referring to. A 30,000-grit paper is approximately 5 microns in size

Do these work for 1x30 belt sanders? How does it affect my ability to shave my hair? The belt on my sander is a 1x30 leather belt. ?

I definitely agree. As a bench strop for chisels and planer blades, I used it on a simple piece of leather tacked to a 2x4. When I have honed it on a progressive set of Lansky diamond bench stones, I charge the strop with buffing compound to polish the edges to an even bevel so you can shave your head with it. I do not prefer the method of using a sanding belt, but it does work just as well.

This product is a good one and comes in what seems to be a lifetime supply
5/5

There is more A strop and the green extra fine compound are what I use to sharpen my knives. As a result, you have an edge that is razor sharp, and the blade is honed to the right There is such a large bar of buffing compound that it will last for a lifetime. For such a big purchase, why did I buy it? Even the smaller bars were the same price, or they had shipping charges that made them cost more or even more than the larger bars. Even if you used an eighth of this bar, it would last you for several Essentially, the bar is hard like a crayon. You rub it into the strop as best you can, and then cover the rest of the strop with it as well. It has even been shown on video how a smooth poster board with buffing compound was used to strop hone knife blades. A buffing compound is used to remove scratches. product arrived in about 3 days so the delivery was fast. It works well and is priced fairly, so I rated it as a 5 out of 5.

I needed an extra sharp chisel, and this is exactly what I got
5/5

I used this product to hon my chisels and I really liked it. Their sharpness and edge are given just a little more by this. The dogs also love the taste of this product. The downside, however, is how quickly they go through a pound of extra fine buffing. Taking the wax out of the jar will let you know who ate it. Keep in mind that curious puppies are at risk from anything they can get their hands on. I don't know. The closer or farther you leave them believing something is out of reach, the less likely they are to believe it. The answer to this question is no.

Knife strops made with this compound are fantastic
4/5

A pound of compound from Woodstock typically goes for about five bucks, and some of the less commonly used grits from Woodstock in this very listing are available for only eight bucks. All the professional knife sharpening videos I have watched have repeatedly recommended that this price is excessive. Hence, the price for what is probably the most commonly bought grit (green) is inexplicably high at 12 dollars plus. The only problem is I still don't know where they get theirs for five bucks per pound, unless it is some kind of Although I didn't give this five stars due to the price, I did give it four stars because of the quality. Considering the performance of this extra fine green compound, I cannot fault it. Before now, the only compound I had used was one that included For my larger knives, however, I wanted strops that were much larger. In the end, I grabbed some scrap leather at a hobby shop to make this and found an Enkay 149-B. 5 in a pack of 6 The same same 6oz bars of abrasive compounds (black, brown, white, green, red, blue) from amazon can also be used for experimenting with different grit consistency levels. I also used scrap wood for mounting the strops, for which Elmers or Gorilla wood glue worked just fine. And this extra wood proved to be useful at a later date. There was a noticeable difference in the color and feel of the greens as well as the dryness (softer) of the set of six. As Woodstock D2902 is nearly the same consistency as the small piece of green compound that came with the Worksharp, and worked better into the leather strop than Enkay's green, even without heating it If you're planning to sharpen most of your blades using water stones, diamond plates, or ceramic rods, green will actually be all you need for the majority of the work. Although I think black can be beneficial in certain instances, such as when the blade is particularly dull or after re-sharpening By profiling or changing the geometry of the edge, it can be made to cut better than a secondary bevel, as most knives have them. The color white seems to be popular for sharpening knives and chisels as well. As of now, I do not see anything brown can do that black can't do better when it comes to sharpening blades. In comparison with red and blue grits, which cut even less, the same would seem to be true for green. Red and blue will remove even less material, so their usefulness seems limited to polishing other metals, more related to cleaning. Green already polishes to a mirror finish and red and blue will remove even less material, so their usefulness appears limited to polishing other metals. It is true, however, that Amazon needs to update the photo. In contrast, Amazon's images for this listing in green are MUCH less accurate and do not give the product a professional look and feel. The pictures provided by other customers are MUCH better and make the product seem more professional and appealing.

I found it to be easy to use
5/5

The Woodstock D2902 1- is perfect for me The Extra Fine Buffing compound weighs one pound. This provides such a fine edge on knives that you can slice 1/16 inch ribbons from a sheet of paper just by drawing the knife along its edge. I use a leather strop and wooden handle to use the compound and it puts such an edge on all my knives. Whenever equipment moving parts were polished or trigger mechanisms were polished, I also used it. It would be better to choose Woodstock D2902 1 as it's the most reliable You can use this Extra Fine Buffing compound on any metal surface if you want a superior finish.

I have three shades of black substance, one shade of green extra fine, and one shade of This is the third of three that I bought A black compound, a green extrafine, and a red rouge*br> Black I like it a lot
5/5

The extra fine green is definitely more abrasive than the green extra fine, which is perfect for prepping the razor sharp mirror finish of the green extra fine. Extra fine green buffing compound - the following Despite being a novice when it comes to sharpening knives, using this and a leather strop, I was able to make my survival knife razor sharp to the point where I could easily shave my head This is a highly recommended product. As well as polishing, it's a great tool. Rough compound of red color In my experience, I have only used this on brass to polish it, and I cannot tell a difference between the green extra fine and the red rouge. Although both polishers are great, they have different styles.

I don't understand why the reviewers are surprised with the size of that stuff
5/5

In my opinion, the TSA guys will think that it is plastic explosive. As long as one pound is one pound, it is one Mine came partially encased in an expandable plastic sleeve to prevent dehydration, as I imagine. My package was right at the point where children use cartoon crayons. There are no instructions embedded, but it is logical to expect that anyone purchasing a considerable amount will know how to use it as well. It is not your case, so you need to do a little research on the Internet to discover how "the best" ones use it (I did that, and then I realized that my actual practice was different). My woodworking tools also work great with it, even though it is designed to be used with stainless steel. The TSA guys will think it is plastic explosive, so just be prepared for that.

You've got great stuff here
5/5

The information here is excellent. Fair enough, I had bought from the same company before, and I just went ahead with the new order I did not actually open THAT package yet, as I had not ordered it I got one that worked well but the last one was For two locations, I need it as well. If I had not bought one, I would have purchased two. This is a large and robust ass block with a long lifespan, so it is sure to last for a long time. Also used If you can believe it or not, you can strop AND sharpen. High quality bushcraft knives (full tang, good If you sharpen a knife with this, it will become cutting-edge A sharp knife. For the most part, there is no need to waste time (and steel removal) on the stones. Take a look at it at lunch, while watching TV, or whenever suits you.
