Questions & Answers

Is it possible to use smaller backing plates with it? Does it attach with a standard screw?

Yes, I agree. With its threaded post, it is suitable for backing plates with smaller dimensions. There is no standard size available, but I think it is 5/8-in. This board is 11 posts wide. I have a backing plate that is 3" and a 7" plate.

Are Makita going to offer a cordless polisher similar to Milwaukee's?

For compounding, polishing, and waxing fiberglass boats, this polisher is a favorite of the boating industry. For a battery pack to have the runtime while still providing the power required to lift a badly chalked, 20'+ fiberglass boat, it would have to be so large and heavy of a battery pack that it would not be able to

Do you offer a warranty on the product?

According to my understanding, the warranty is for one year.

Does the bag that came with this polisher have a particular size?

It is the size of a small shirt and measures 10 x 20 x 8 inches. The bag has two pockets on the side and a The knife comes with a "D" handle that can be removed, a single-sided handle that can be removed (for left or right handers), and a 6" blade. The hook faced sander backer disc measures 5" and the buffer pads are different sizes.

5/5

Having used this buffer and its predecessor the 9227 for eight years in the automobile detailing industry, I can do a fair amount of reference. The average buffer run time for me is 5 minutes All day, every day, for eight hours. The outer plastic casings are nearly melted and sticky to the touch as a result of my laborious work. As I've used the DeWalt 849, there is no comparison between the two. I wonder if there is an industry that uses them more than mine. There is a lot of play in DeWalt's speed control, and there is little torque when pushing the unit hard or under Even when the going gets tough, the Makita will go on. use a Makita tool all day and every day for more than four years, and it keeps on working. Besides the brushes and the power cords, the only parts I have ever replaced were the brushes and the power cords (because we drag the power cords around on the pavement all day long). No failure of any kind has occurred with the gearbox, switches or speed controllers. If you choose a Makita, you will be able to control the speed accurately no matter how much pressure is applied (these are machines with an amazing amount With the soft start, the drive system is protected and isn't overtaxed. By replacing the brush head with rubber, you prevent dents and scratches from occurring on the surface you are buffing, and the motor vent screens keep wool and debris out of This would get ten stars if there was a way to do so. It was Tim Wilda who spearheaded the UCMOAB. This is truly the ultimate car makeover in a bottle.

I'm sure that you'll see results from this product! It is true that I have never buffed a car in my life
5/5

I have used orbital buffers that are available at local mechanic shops and even the $120 Porter Cable one that I bought at I was a bit nervous to go from a black show car that often appears in indoor conventions to a rotary buffer because I am used to black cars. I expected things to be different, but it never happened that way. I bought it because its price was right, and I was willing to take a chance. This buffer is exactly what I needed! I am thrilled with it! The bottom line is that it is easy to use and does a great I find it a bit heavy, but otherwise it has a very comfortable feel to it. As seen from the left I like how the grip doesn't shake overly much in my hands (like the Porter Cable Orbital did) and the slow start up when pulling the trigger is a great feature. In addition to the extra pads (which I will also use on other cars) and the storage bag, I really like that it came with that. *If you are new to buffing and are considering giving it a shot - I guarantee you that it will improve your skills dramatically. It will NOT disappoint when it comes to the Makita!.

The project was a great success in every respect
5/5

As of the writing of this review, I have used the tool for one full session. After removing the Zymol liquid polish with a little sponge, I applied many more coats of it An applicator is then used, and then the buffing is done In the kit, you have a wooly bonnet that can be worn with the Makita. By using the ShopVac occasionally, I kept the air intake screens clean, as well as picking up the loose pieces of fuzzy wool with the vacuum on the rotating pad. In the beginning, I used speed #1, and I continued using it until I got the hang of how the buffer worked. When I got the feel for it, I was able to do - Step by step, I worked my way up to In addition to polishing many coats, the high speed was used after the polish was applied, and it was actually quite enjoyable to run along with the machine at the high speed and keep it under control, which I had learned My entire project was completed on the roof of a '93 Corolla wagon that has always been kept outside in the driveway and that has always had a roof rack on it. In order to wax my car, I had already removed the roof rack. It does not appear that an adequate wax job was ever done on the top of the car, and there are distinct bands of non-waxed areas It has been shaded by various members of the rack, which is evident by the oxidized Despite never having tried it before, I was able to tip the rotating tool for the purpose of controlling the left-hand side of the machine with ease Swing of the buffer to the right. Despite its heavy weight, it can be controlled quite well with one hand, by swinging it around while keeping the trigger locked to "on. " The machine is pretty heavy, but with good tip control it is often manageable with one hand. The activities took place all on horizontal surfaces, or nearly horizontal surfaces, as the case may be. In spite of my best efforts, I spent about three hours on the top of the car. Note, by the way, that the speed control can be found separately from the ignition switch As long as the trigger is locked to "on," it can be adjusted while it is locked to "off. " In the incremental steps, there are a lot of them, not just a few, so they are precise Once you reach 4 or 5, the pad is flying all around pretty fast, so I did not go beyond Having all of the tool's features working properly and feeling crisp and strong were its highlights It includes a trigger, speed control, and rotation lock (for use during the installation and removal of the backing disc when there is no movement). Based on my judgment, I made the following decision The size of After passing my head through the loop and letting the cord, with extension cord, dangle behind me, I formed a loop of the cord and tied it in place with two big cable ties. The system worked well and made managing the cord easier, but it is I've got no real problems with the cord, but I don't like that I have to manage it. 3 FYI, the prong end of the plug is round. It's very well made and makes it convenient to keep the whole outfit together when it is It makes me so happy to own this buffer, I've got to say that. In order to use it on both family vehicles, I will apply one or two panels at a time You can wash a panel or two with a towel and some water, dry it off, use a buffer to wax it, and then all of it can be put My vehicle can have some shiny parts and some dull ones, so it doesn't matter to me for now. This is what it looks like when I use it - If it were set up like that, I'd probably be more inclined to use it. Even doing an entire vehicle would be an undertaking, but just doing a fender or a door -- THAT would be difficult. It's an excellent way to- Today's shine-up of the Corolla roof was the most heroic of all the polishing I will have to do, and it was actually fun. It's great to own this cool piece of software right now. I'll edit this review if anything germane comes up. At the moment I'm very pleased to have it.

My SAAB 2003 looked brand new in less than 3 hours after buffing and polishing it with the Makita
5/5

I thought the rubber covered handles were a cute idea, but they looked cheap anyway. The scratches, water stains, and swirls have been removed. As much as I was pleased by the rubberized handles, I thought it was a dull waste of Makita's energy. When the second day is over It is possible to feel the difference after just 3 hours. It has a definite Makita feel to it, as far as performance is concerned. Despite their reputation not being compromised yet, the company hasn't compromised itself. I still consider this to be a great product. The pads that come with it allow you to complete the The work is complete on several There is no need to purchase an extra pad kit.

With no hesitation or lag, you can achieve super power
5/5

The machine is one of the most powerful variable speed pieces of equipment you will ever see. As a result of my research, I chose this over the Dewalt because it was bundled with a bag and a couple attachments, and it was delivered from a seller who These would both be excellent choices in this price range, according to me. When the variable start up is off, liquid does not sling from inside the system during startup. There would only be one negative if I had to pick one, and that would be the weight of the whole thing. Power is simply heavy. However, all the brands with this sort of power seem to weight about the same, so I suppose you could say that power is just Buffering is a skill I'm slowly learning and I'm getting more comfortable with with each session. conclusion, I have no hesitation in recommending this product to a friend. In order to get the best pads, I need to figure out who makes them. It's nice to see so many brands and styles that all have good ratings. I am going to leave you with a message of peace.
