As my husband and I were walking through an after marathon exhibition hall, Body Buffers were being touted as best for recovering from lactic acid and fascial damage after a marathon workout. There is basically the same thing here, only at a tenth of the cost. You may use it on your legs or feet, however if you have a partner you can trust, you'll benefit from it in the back and shoulders. This product should only be used on hair if you are careful.
The backing breaks off after a short period of time. If it is not useful, it is Generic pads cannot really be used in place of these.
It has a light weight and is comfortable. ten minutes of using the machine, the screw holding the pad to the machine came loose. That's no big deal. Just tightened the screw and continued using the machine. I discovered that the pad had separated from either the rest or the foam base by the time I finished the bike. There is no spare pad and no selling of the pad itself, even though most buffers have a single screw to hold the pad in place. There seems to be a problem with the glue holding together the pad, but no one else has had the same problem.
To buff 90-percent of my body, I used this tool and cerium oxide With my work of about 2 hours, I was able to remove nearly all the scratches on my 2000 civic windshield. I did not worry about getting an extension cord since the cord is only about 6' long. It is powered using a 12 V outlet and an inverter (120 W). Spec'd at 120V and 0 watts, this unit is designed for indoor use. It is much higher than that, but 5A (60W) is very high. It was necessary to give it a spin or nudge by hand when I turned it on in order to prevent burning out my alternator or inverter. Generally, the motor did fine once it got going, but under these conditions excessive pressure would cause it to stall. The glare was significantly reduced in my car when driving toward the sun at sunrise/sunset or facing oncoming traffic at night, and I avoided replacing the windshield because of it.
The buffer was purchased for polishing the faux marble top of our bathroom vanity.
It isn't very powerful, a bit hard to handle. I'm trying buffing compound rather than regular car polish after the regular polish didn't work.
Here is the item I received just now. The small motorcycle items I have used it on twice have been fine. Easy to use and control, I found the device to be very easy to use. An old paint job that had been sitting for 30 years got a good re-vamp thanks to it. In my experience, I would have given this item five stars if I had more experience with this type of item. There is nothing I could think of that could be improved. Furthermore, it is a Ryobi (which is why I purchased it), so I am sure it will hold up for years.
I think this thing is very good for the price. It appears to be functional and works well for what I need, but I do not expect it to last long. Although it's heavy, if you have a long project one with handles might be more suitable for it, but for using it to polish out headlights or laptops (which is what I do), this tool is perfectly functional and I have no complaints about it.
