Two blades, to be exact. It performs admirably, comparable to the wired Dewalt I used for many years. Ryobi's cordless tool is much better in my opinion.
The RYOBI ONE batteries are 18 volts.

I had a few ideas. This thing is going to eat you! And that isn't always a good thing! If you don't hold it just right, your "plane" will mill unevenly. To get some closet doors to close, I used this method. Conceptually, it's a great application, but it's a little lacking in execution. It doesn't matter what you do, you'll always have uneven planning. Also, the bag can be filled in one pass, which is an improvement. If you don't mind those things, you'll enjoy it.
So far, it's been a good portable planer. I have a craftsman corded hand planer that has served me well, but I frequently need to use it from a ladder or when I am not near a power source. DeWalt and Ryobi are two of my favorite cordless power tools, and they both have cordless planers. I've tried the DeWalt and was underwhelmed. This one received favorable reviews, and I've always admired Ryobi's work. If you're going to use it a lot in a shop, I'd recommend getting a corded planer. Aside from that, this cordless planer is a great time saver.
This cordless planer allowed me to shave down a door in minutes, where a manual hand planer would have taken me half an hour or more. not to mention the fact that it relieved my excruciating wrist pain Because all of my other tools are Ryobi, all I had to do was plug in a charged battery and get to work. This is a wonderful addition to any home. Prosumer toolkit for business owners.
If you don't pay attention to the bag, the chip port will easily plug in. It did an excellent job of squeaking out a door.
Because it is cordless, it is extremely convenient. The plastic support that holds the wood chips collection bag broke easily, so I deducted one star. Aside from that, this is a fantastic tool.
I have a couple of corded planers and didn't want to worry about where to plug them in or keeping the cord out of the way, so this was a good option. The only criticism I have is that the driver parked it in the rain. It still worked, thankfully.
It can handle both oak and pine with ease!.
It's fantastic! All Ryobi Tools, in my opinion, are excellent value for money, work well, and are long-lasting.
