Questions & Answers

How long does the Planer last on a single charge?

The 20v 5 ah battery will last about 3 to 4 hours while continuously removing 1/32" of wood. 4 to 5. With a 20v flexvolt 6ah battery, you can get 5 hours of use.

It is stated in the product specifications that the voltage is 18 volts. Is it one of these?

The batteries that work with it have a maximum voltage of 20 volts.

Will DeWalt 18v batteries be compatible with this? And how well did it go?

It will work with 18v batteries if you purchase the Dewalt adapter designed to work with older batteries. The adapter is typically available for $30-$50 on this site. 40 bucks.

Hello, I'd like to know which batteries and chargers are compatible with the Dewalt Garlopa or Cepillo 20 volts, and if they also work with other 20 volt machines?

It cuts unevenly and there is no way to adjust it
3/5

DeWalt is a brand I like because their tools are usually well-made. As a result, this hand planer is a major disappointment. This planer cuts unevenly right out of the package - The right side of the tool has a much deeper cut. When I set the tool's depth of cut to 0, I get a tiny skim cut on the tool's left side and a cut of 1. 5 - On the tool's right side, 2mm. br>I assumed it was just factory-adjusted incorrectly - There's no need to be concerned. Precision tools must be adjusted, and you can never rely on the factory to do so correctly. As a result, I aligned the blades using DeWalt's method. There was absolutely no difference in the outcome. br>So I did what I should have done in the first place: I checked to see if the shoes were coplanar. That isn't the case. Not surprising, given that, as I previously stated, precision tools are typically dialed in by the user. The issue is that the shoes are completely unadjustable. It is impossible to make them parallel. br>The injection-molded rear shoe is bolted to the injection-molded front shoe. chassis that has been molded I suppose they expect the chassis to be flawless right out of the mold. I'm an engineer who's spent the last 16 years working in manufacturing, and I'd never expect a complex injection molded part to be accurate enough for what this planer is aiming for. Simply put, it's implausible. As a result, the shoes must have a way to be adjusted - However, this is not the case. This tool is useless unless I devise a way to make the shoes coplanar and square to the blades.

It has a steep learning curve, but it's a great product overall
4/5

I ended up returning this product shortly after purchasing it because I read positive reviews and thought it was worthwhile to purchase. When I first saw the product, I was blown away by its quality. It was a good size and didn't feel too heavy. I was eager to try it out, but after only a few days, I was disappointed. When I say that, I don't mean that it didn't have the power; it did; however, I believe that the positioning of the blades on the product, as well as how short it is, cause issues when you're nearing the end of your pass. I discovered that I was gouging the ends of some of my work prices, and that I spent more time fixing the gouging than actually planing surfaces. It's something that a lot of online reviews mentioned, but I figured that with my skills, I'd be able to overcome it. However, with all the inertia of the blades spinning at such a high rate, it's not as easy as it seems. I liked the tool until the price gouging became a regular occurrence, at which point I couldn't justify using it instead of a standard run through planner. br> I wouldn't say I wouldn't recommend buying it because I believe anything is possible with enough practice. br>However, it will give you a run for your money in terms of patience. I have a very high attention to detail mindset and need things to be perfect before giving something to a customer, and this product simply added to my workload rather than the old fashioned and traditional way of planning.

incredibly high-quality quality
5/5

I work as a cabinetmaker in San Francisco and also provide specialized finishing services. I have a vintage Rockwell plane with spiral carbide that I use for doors, but this one is used for everything else. Not everything Dewalt makes is as good as this planer (and I own quite a few XR tools), but it's a good one. It's just quiet and silky, with a lustrous finish. I almost didn't buy this because the chips go out on the right, but I'm invested in the 20v system, so I gave it a try. This replaced a corded Bosch that I had for 20 years, which had a much better fence and could shoot the chips out either side. I almost didn't buy this because the chips go out on the right, but I'm invested in the 20v system, so I gave it a try. It's so easy to use that I'm using it to do long scribes that I used to do with a jigsaw, as well as shallow scribes that I used to do with a belt sander or block plane. I'm picky about how a tool feels (Dewalt, please make a drill that feels as good as this plane!). ) and I'm looking forward to putting it to use. I have a situation where the chips have to shoot up and rain down on me every now and then (yes, there is a bag that I threw away), and the fence is a useless afterthought, but if you're not doing doors with it, this is one of Dewalt's nicer XR tools. Also, not having to worry about a cord on a plane is a huge plus.

Blade alignment is a pain due to inaccuracy and lack of adjustability
3/5

There was no way to adjust the front shoe because it was not aligned with the main body. For a product with such a high price tag, the design is appalling. Also, aligning the blade with the holder on the provided plastic piece (again, a very flimsy solution for such a high-end product) is a difficult process. Tightening the blade screws after alignment almost always causes the alignment to become messed up. The deepest setting is at the very bottom.

Excellent resource- The dust bag has gone missing
4/5

This is a fantastic piece of software. I first used it to level my joists for a deck I built, and I've since used it several times. It's a fantastic piece of equipment. The only issue is that it does not come with a dust bag, which causes saw dust to fly all over the place. I had to buy one from a DeWalt service center, and even then, it was a disaster. When I duct taped it to the hose on my shop vac and used the tool while running the shop vac, I got the cleanest results. It's inconvenient, but it contained approximately 98% of the mischief.

For rough work, it's ideal
5/5

This is a planer used by contractors. Keep that in mind no matter what else you learn about it or what you decide to do with it. br>br>I bought this to make a workbench more level. This is a difficult assignment: It could have been done with a 60 grit sander, but it would have taken a long time, and it was too large to fit through a stationary thickness planer. This tool was a lot easier to use than I had anticipated. I was able to get it mostly even by removing the higher parts. After that, I finished the job with a random orbit sander. This was, after all, a pine workbench, not a piece of fine furniture. br>br>Even if it technically works, I'm not sure I'd want to use this with hardwood. It isn't equipped to handle the job. It'll probably dull the blades prematurely, and I'm guessing you'll get a lot of tear-out. made from wood fibers br>br>Are you planning on making something useful out of construction lumber? This is going to work. Are you doing some framing and need to take a few inches off a 2x4 to make a door frame fit? It's possible that this is the right tool for the job. Is it worth it to build a $4,000 bedroom set out of oak or maple? Pass. This results in a large amount of wood shavings. br>br> DWV9000 and DWV9190, if you don't already have them, are required to connect this to a 2. 5" vacuum cleaner.
