Because they serve different purposes, I purchased both the DEWALT DW6654 Reversible Carbide Blade Set and the DEWALT DW6655 High Speed Steel Blades. Carbide is used for smooth planning, while steel is used to plan 2x4s to level the studs before the drywall is installed. Both are equally effective when used for the intended purpose. I love my planner because it makes it so easy to make minor adjustments to doors that have settled, etc. I've used the carbide on cherry, teak, oak, and pine tables and chairs with great success. Use the steel if you're going to hit nails because it's more forgiving.br>R Baker
The Bosch PL2632K planer includes a 3 degree fence designed specifically for doors, as well as a straight fence for everything else. There is also a PL1632 that comes with only a straight fence and no second fence with the three degrees for doors. I hope this has been of assistance.
If you ask for it at the time of purchase, you will get it. It's available with or without a carrying case. The K after this item number denotes that it is a kit and that it will be packaged in a case.
Two reversible carbide blades are included in the D26677K kit.

To save money, I bought a cheaper WEN Hand Planner, but one of the three blades broke and gouged my cedar slab on the first day of use. Needless to say, I returned the unit to Amazon (and received a refund) and ordered the Dewalt, as I have always used Dewalt tools and have never had any issues with them. I'll never understand why I put in so much time and effort to save $60. This planner is extremely useful. I made good solid cuts and never slowed down the unit. The depth cut is indented, and it must be held in place. All of the tools can be used to set up new blades, and the carbide inserts can be used for quick setup, change, and sharpening. Excellent instruments.
It's great if you're working with boards that are narrower than the planer, but it's difficult to get everything on the same plane when working with larger boards. Even when set to 0, it leaves a line and requires finesse to get it all right. Even so, a sander will be required to smooth everything out. It also clogs easily at any setting higher than 0. It's difficult to get into a plane rhythm at the end of the board because of the strange plastic tab that has to be pushed up to plane.
Dual planer blades are an advantage over a Bosch planer with only one blade, which is slightly less expensive. This DeWault model is noisier than older DeWault models we have. The air intake port has also shrunk. To avoid overheating, keep the sawdust out of the unit.
However, I'd purchase it again. Does what I expected it to do, but it doesn't eject sawdust very well and gets clogged up quickly. However, I'd purchase it again. It's simple to swap out blades.
Right out of the box, it worked as advertised. Some 80-year-old issues were resolved. In less than 5 minutes, you'll be able to replace your old doors. When Mama is content, everyone else is as well.
I didn't worry about vacuum attachments because I just like to make a big mess in the garage, so I didn't mind the chips/sawdust.
This is a fantastic plane. It speeds up the pace of my project. The dust adapter is one of my favorite features.
Great tool for the price and ease of use; I was able to complete my attic project on time. It's probably best to get this one rather than the 20v because you'll need a lot of battery to do what this one does.
