This thing made quick work of repairing a large ash slab bench that had developed some cupping after I built it. This tool never missed a beat as I removed about an inch or so of material from both sides' outside edges. I liked that it had an automatic rest to prevent the blade from digging into the ground while I was putting it down. The only thing I didn't like was how frequently the chip chute clogged, forcing me to come to a halt to clear the chips. I didn't try using it with a vacuum attachment, but it appears that it would be beneficial. The ability to direct the chips didn't help me because it just caused more clogging. That is why the rating is four stars.

br>The knives needed to be adjusted out of the box; the fence brackets aren't 90 degrees, but 100 degrees, so when the planner is used, it makes the fence flat but at an angle. br>I had to adjust the blades and turn the brackets 90 degrees, but it's now working perfectly.
