Questions & Answers

What makes this one different from the previous one (nr90aes)?

The only difference appears to be that the old one had four Allen screws on the back cap, whereas the new one only has two. The back of the chair has a unique shape. Both of them are in my possession, and they appear to work in the same way.

What's the best way to maintain this nailer's lubrication? What is the frequency of your visits?

5 drops in the same location where the Air is connected. You apply oil every day.

Is it going to fit between 16" o. studs or joists? Or does anyone know the length of the nailer from tip to tip?

The nailer stands at around 13" in height. It easily fits between studs, according to my inspection, and it's a fantastic nail gun.

Mopstly fantastic, but keep reading! It's light, shoots straight, and I haven't had a single jam in the six months I've had it
3/5

I've only used about half a box of nails so far. It's short from tip to tip and fits easily between most framing bays, so it just works well in general. The only thing I can't say about longevity and how well it stands up to job site environments is that I'm not sure. br>br>For one very simple and unacceptable flaw, I'm docking two stars, and I'm tempted to dock three: The lever that controls whether sequential or contact nailing is used (i. e. After almost EVERY SINGLE SHOT, the gun jumps off its detent and refuses to fire (hold trigger and press nose vs press nose, then pull trigger). When you put the thing in sequential mode (which I almost always use), you're doing it to produce 100s or 1000s of nails at once, not to shoot once and then check if the lever has unseated itself! While drilling the detent a little deeper helped the lever's ball seat and not blow off every time, it still bumps off randomly, which is insanely annoying when you're up on a ladder, holding your knee on half a stud width, counterbalancing your other arm on a rafter, and have just enough pressure fit of what you need to nail for one shot, then the thing doesn't fire. br>br>Perhaps it's just this one gun's flaw, but I'm curious if this is a problem with others as well.

In every way, this is outstanding: Performance, cost, and longevity are all important factors to consider
5/5

This item is unbeatable for under $200. I'm sure there are others who are more qualified. This nailer is a beast for the home DIYer like me who may use it for the occasional large project. After deciding to build an 8x12 shed on my own and learning a valuable lesson in arm fatigue after framing its walls by hand, I ordered this nail gun to tackle the rafter and roofing stages of the project. Looking back, I have no idea how I could have gone without it. The amount of time you save hammering nails alone makes it well worth the money. br>br>As for the gun itself, it weighs just over seven pounds, making it extremely light and easy to carry around all day. It's very easy to get into tighter spaces, and the collar around the "muzzle" digs just enough into the wood to allow a good toenail to get through while dangling from a roof in precarious positions. I hardly ever had to finish nails with a hammer once the air pressure was set to the proper level, and the nails that didn't go through correctly were entirely due to user error as I was getting used to using a framing nailer, not the gun's fault. br>br>The gun is tough and can withstand a lot of abuse. I also dropped it (a couple of times) from the top of my ladder, which was about eight feet away. It scuffed up a few rungs on the way down, but was otherwise unharmed. The nail feeder appears to be made of a repairable material, so even if you drop it until it breaks, the tool will not be completely destroyed. A hanging hook, as mentioned in other reviews, would be useful. br>br>Information I wish I had discovered while comparing nailers: I use a Porter Cable C2002-150, which has a maximum pressure of 150 PSI. WK 6- air compressor with a capacity of one gallon This gun would drive about 12 nails at 85 PSI before the compressor kicked in to refill the tank. This was a major concern of mine before I started, so if you have a similar-sized concern, please let me know. This is a good-sized pancake-style compressor with a good rate of fire and just the right size for this job. The item also includes a 21-day money back guarantee. The nail angle thing was confusing for a newbie, even though I bought 22 degree nails and had no misfires or hiccups. This gun is fantastic. br>br> I'm excited about how much time it'll save me on the next big project.

I'm head over heels for you
5/5

The Hitachi NR90AES1 framing nail gun gets a perfect score of five stars. In order to build a picket fence, I used Hitachi 20171s (21 degree) nails, which may have saved me 1. After 5 days of not having to hand-nail those pickets, I'm feeling pretty good. I had a few misfires at first due to user error; It would fire once, then go silent for a few seconds before firing again. But it didn't take long for me to realize I was using too little pressure. Then it began to drive the nails too far into the skin. By adjusting the depth, I was able to quickly resolve this issue. Installing pickets into 2 x 4s required 70 PSI on the regulator. I kept it on single fire rather than sequential fire for safety reasons, but once I zeroed it in, it worked perfectly. This is something I strongly suggest you do. Con's: When I built my fence, I didn't have any rafters to hang it on, so I didn't use a rafter hook. I didn't require it, either.

Nailer of Extreme Quality! I bought this to replace my Bosstitch Nailer because Hitachi nails are more widely available, less expensive, and have a larger variety
4/5

So far, the plastic collated nails appear to be reliable, and the gun appears to be in good working order. The only disadvantage is that it requires more frequent re-stitching than the Bosstitch. Because plastic collated nails can't be packed as densely as wire collated nails, it's difficult to load them. This was too good an offer on Amazon to pass up.

The gun is excellent, but it is missing the hook
3/5

If it had a built-in hook, this gun would be a five-star weapon. Another issue I have is that it jams occasionally when I use Grip-It. Rite 2- 3/8-inch nails Aside from that, this gun is extremely dependable and can easily drive nails into wood. This is the third of this model that I have purchased, and I intend to continue to do so. I'm hoping they'll surprise me with a hook one of these days.

Great gun, but it has a hard time with the last nail every now and then
4/5

I just finished framing a house with this guy, and it's a powerful gun that's also light. I've dropped it from great heights several times and it continues to work flawlessly. My only gripe is that it frequently has issues with the last nail. I've tried a few different types of nails and it almost always hits it in but leaves the head out about a half inch. It's usually not a problem if you don't use the last nail or add another clip before the last few.
