The last few weeks, I bought three of these. My order for three more was just delivered. The cost is the best I have found for these, and they are well made. A good fit can be found in them. The mounting and configuration of a tool for a quick change can be done with these quick changes. This is a very good product. thing that I do not like about them (and it's the same for all brands of these), is the somewhat modest setscrews that they come with. It's not just that they are more than needed, but they also have a strange end that's not threaded for the last quarter inch or so. Furthermore, the female hex head is poorly formed from marginal steel, meaning that when tightened, it is easy to either round the inside of the female hex head or pop it into place with an Allen wrench. They come in 250-gram packs and I have a few dozen For most of the holders on 201/202, I've replaced the setscrews, especially when I am using tools that have a 5/8 inch shank. As far as I can tell, I've never had a problem with any of the holders. The APRIL 2020 UPDATE is as follows You will need to be aware that the current version features inch-sized fonts A based fastener looks exactly like the old, but the setscrews and the main locking nut are now American size. Therefore, you will need a new set of wrenches to use with the new versions. However, 17mm wrenches will work in previous versions, and 4mm hex keys will not you'll need a new set for.
I ordered two identical holders for an Aloris tool post and one worked correctly and the other failed. A dovetail that would not slide on the toolpost was machined not as deep on one holder as the other. Other than the lack of fit, the finish is good, though the hex screws are not as tight as they should be. It should be tightened over). It is routine for me to replace these screws with bolt store quality fasteners, and I have successfully used them for several years. You can use the model 201 and 202 boring bar holder if you need one. The model 201 has a flat bottom where you clamp the tool, while the model 202 has a groove where you can clamp the tool.
It fits the dovetail accurately, and is well fitted and finished. appear to be made of good quality steel, unlike those in many import holders. However, the holes appear to be dog-eared. A portion of the thread engagement is taken up by the style screws and dogs being longer than needed. To make the setscrews just right, I ground the dogs down to about 1/8 inch length, polished them flat and flattened, and now the dogs are perfect. This holder, which I purchased from the same vendor, as well as the cutoff holder I bought are excellent.
This is an excellent tool, all in all. There was one issue though. One of the four I ordered was too tight on the tool post. There was no way to slide the tool holder onto the tool post. The dovetails were very In the end, I polished the dovetail of the tool holder with a diamond hone for about ten minutes in order to make the holder move on the tool post. The rest of the installation is seamless. I find this product to be a good deal.
Tooling is held and repeatable positioning is possible while allowing quick tool changes. I like the way it works, and the price is reasonable.
A good value for a tool holder that fits well, is sturdy, holds the tool firmly, and is It is my recommendation that you use them, and I have filled my order with.
I like the way it looks and works in my opinion, though it may have been imported.
