It can reach a maximum gauge of 16 gauge.
On 18 gauge steel, it appears to form the best flange. I read before I bought that it could crimp up to 14 gauge metal. I believe it is a bizrate advertisement. Even though the tool has enough power, the jaws have the wrong geometries for that. The flanges only lay flat perfectly for 18 gauge metal, and when I called the customer service line and spoke with "Carlos," their warranty tool repair guy, he said it was designed to form 18 gauge metal. It works well enough on 16 gauge body panels for me. The edges can be blended tolerably with a little grinding. The punch tool can't be stopped. Overall, I'm a little disappointed with the tool because I had such high expectations, but it gets used and has a place in my shop.
57 mm x 9 mm x 57 mm x 9 mm Yes, it can be mounted because it is 5 inches long and has a hex shape on one end and two flats on the other.

Poor performance and a difficult to use interface. Heavy. It's awkward to use because the trigger lever is too far out from the body to be fingered or grasped. It was unbalanced, tiring, and imprecise because it had to be held at the air inlet to use it. It performed weak flanges (though it was quiet) and required three passes to achieve minimal depth. And this only just allows for the intended flush fit of the adjacent panel. If the panels aren't exactly flat, it's a disaster. The punching of the holes went well. After only 6" of flange with three holes, I decided to call it a day. The jaws of the anvil would no longer close together to form the flange. There are no instructions for use.
Making holes for spot welds is a breeze with this tool. This produces a nice large hole that is easier to weld than most 3/16" holes. I made a modification to mine by making the throat deeper so that the large hole is not too close to the metal's edge, allowing me to weld more easily without blowing out the metal.
I grabbed this flange tool and went to work right away. br> It's simple to make a nice crease in metal. In ten minutes, create a complete crease on the quarter panel. It also comes with a hole punch, which can be used to make holes in metal, similar to how butter is made. This is a fantastic tool!.
This instrument appears to be in good working order. made and punches neat and tidy holes The holes, however, are too close to the edge to comfortably plug weld, as others have pointed out. My fear is that I'll vaporize the thin strip due to its weakness so close to the edge. I returned it and replaced it with a punch that I could operate with my hands.
While this punch is adequate, it punches the holes a little too close to the edge. It gets a B- from me. in light of this.
I like the product; it's very good and does exactly what it says on the box. The only thing I didn't like about the Amazon delivery was that it was left in my driveway under my truck's front tire. They could have sat it on the porch with just six more steps.
Even in 16 ga. steel, it punches holes quickly.
It works perfectly and has saved me a lot of time.
