This is an outstanding deal. I received it yesterday and spent three hours removing rotted body panels and bolts from my project truck. I'm not a big fan of working with death wheels, but the Astro doesn't seem to want to jump out of your hand and attack you. Particularly impressive is the metal guard. The whole thing has a solid, confident, and secure feel to it, and the best part is that it uses very little air. There's no need for a 40-pound bag. To run it effectively, you'll need a gallon and a double pump setup, similar to what I've seen with other cutting wheels. Simply put, this is a fantastic item.
Last year, I purchased an Astro Onyx 90" die grinder and its inline twin (both with carbide burrs). Those are some nice air tools you've got there. If possible, this most recent air tool is nicer. It has a lot of power, is relatively quiet, and is well-built. It has a nice cast aluminum guard instead of a cheesy one, which I like because I use guards as an extra place to hold the tool while cutting. I'm thinking about getting another one of these for my 1/16" 3M cutoffs (which I'll be getting as well). They last 20 times longer than the low-cost alternatives. 1 (or higher).
I like the feel and size of it, but it doesn't seem to have as much power as my old cutting tool. However, if you're only cutting thinner metals (20 gauge), it'll suffice.
I use it all the time to cut huck bolts off of semi trucks, and it's a great buy for the money. It doesn't stutter in the least. I used to use a snap on one, but this one works just as well. The only thing I would change is to lengthen the overall body to provide a better grip, similar to what the snap on provided.
I'd buy it again because it's a good price and it works well.
This is an excellent tool for cutting things up. The wheel wore out quickly, but the rest of the tool is excellent. Bought 2!.
It was used by my son to remove a few bolts from his car's exhaust manifold.
There's a lot of power here, and the outer case is very nice.
