Questions & Answers

Although it is true you get what you pay for, there is no difference between the jet 708620b and another jet model. Would you recommend this over the jet if you were able to buy it?

Please accept my apology for the extremely late reply, but I thought others might still be comparing the models of WEN and JET When comparing the WEN 3417 or 3415T directly to the JET 708620b, it is important to note that they are similar units. CFM and hardware specs of the units are nearly identical to that of As for the WEN 3410, you mentioned it in this question, it is designed for a much smaller room and pumps considerably less air, so there's no real comparison to be made. Comparing equivalent models of the same CFM rating will give you a fair understanding of how the two brands are truly comparable. WEN is a much better alternative to the JET in that scenario, especially when shipping damage has been reported with JET units, as many owners have reported. While the units are likely pretty equal, using poor packaging that does not provide adequate shipping protection can turn even a 5-star hotel into a 4-star one. Turn a product with a star into a 1-star product This doorstop is rated five stars. Checking the percentages of 5 is one of my habits A star and a 1 We may be able to determine if there are more customers having problems than perfectly happy customers from star ratings. There might be a different method that works for you.

If the filter needs to be changed, how does a person know it is time to do so?

If I can no longer see the black lines on the new filter, I know it's time for a new one. I use a black Sharpie to draw lines on the new filter.

How big is the room covered by this?

This unit may be adequate for the air in a 2 car garage, as it is stated to filter 400 cubic feet per minute at maximum settings. I use it alongside another air cleaner in my sharpening shop, which has about 600 square feet of air.

How long does it take to get the filters or do I need to buy them separately?

There are filters included in the unit. Separately you will have to purchase replacement parts.

What happens if you use it? It's hard to deny the reality of the numbers
5/5

For a hobbyist woodworker planning to make items for the house or friends, any money left over on tools and equipment would be better spent on a new table saw rather than boring old dust collection. It usually doesn't bother me when my lungs start tickling Could you tell me what that is? blasted cleaning my clothes with the air compressor at the end of the night. In the last few months, we have moved into a split-level house with a basement Despite the garage's level and the air handler and dedicated cold air return located behind the leaky garage door, it seems to have an air handler. I started looking into dust control measures since I did not want to spread sawdust all over my house for my family to breathe, and also because I was tired of all the dust anyway. I purchased a ShopFox dust collector, various tubing, and this WEN hanging filter to suit my needs. That spot will probably remain empty for a little while longer since I do not have a planer yet. After surveying the different brands available, I chose the following one A filter is all it needs so it can suck air in. I found installing the unit to be very easy - Plugs right into a regular outlet once it has been assembled. To assemble the unit, hang four screw hooks (included) into ceiling joists and attach each hook directly or with chains (included) to the four bolt hooks It takes only a few seconds to replace the two filters (a 5 micron pleated filter and a 1 micron pouch filter). The cost of replacing filters seems low - While the house is undergoing heavy renovations, I plan to see how long they last before updating the review. Easy to use - just plug in, turn on, and away you go Selecting the fan speed is as simple as pressing the power button multiple times. The only complaint I have is that it seems you must use the remote if you want to set a runtime, though there may be a way to do it directly on the unit with a This is a simple interface, perhaps older in style, which I do not mind. I have so far been satisfied with the product, but I wanted to determine the performance objectively- Even if I agree with you that the air is cleaner with the unit in place, don't you think I'm biased, hoping the investment is worth giving up something I really love to use? As luck would have it (and if you are interested in this sort of thing as well) As for my wallet, it was happy to hear that I exceeded my expectations. It is the second floor of my 2-story house where I work Ideally suited at a home, this garage (*20'x25') has one bay for woodworking and the other for storage and maintenance. With my table saw and miter saw, I set up the workbench on its end near the middle of the garage, with the intake facing the saws and my WEN unit suspended approximately above the bench. In order to work on the particle counter, I placed the table saw between the miter saw and the table saw, set it to average measured particle concentrations and began measuring particles. The five minutes that I spent cutting were done at a standard, "heavy" pace as if I were cutting several clips at the same time. During that time, I made 4 rip cuts along a 24" pine 2"x4" (slowly using a fine 60 tooth blade - I chose them on purpose to generate maximum dust) and a few miter cuts to fill in some of the extra time. There is a lot of dust floating around. It's important to note that I used the equipment (both DeWalt, by the way) in their default state without any other dust collection devices attached. There was no dust collection system at the table saw and the miter saw had a cloth bag attached that caught some of the bigger chunks the blade spit out. Although I imagine this is unfair to the WEN, I imagine the basic point to be- The dust source will not be destroyed by source dust control measures, so I decided to perform an experiment. The next step will be the results Taking a quick look at the particulate matter terminology will make the numbers easier to understand. My focus was on three categories of particle size - The diameter of the particles should be less than 10 micrometers PM1) and 1 micrometer or less (1, PM5). The effects of these sizes on your lungs vary to varying degrees according to the particle shape and composition, but generally speaking, PM10 is considered inhalable, and PM2 should be avoided. PM1 has a small end that gets into your bloodstream, and penetrates pretty deeply into your lungs. In contrast, PM5 penetrates fairly deeply into your lungs and PM1 just keeps on going on into your lungs. The ideal way to measure ultrafine dust is through ultra-fine particulates (i. e. The nanoparticle - 0 PM. 1). But I didn't want to risk that very expensive equipment. The WEN has both 5um and 1um filters, so I figure this is a fair comparison. These measurements were made in micrograms (ug) per cubic meter of air, and categories were inclusive, so PM10 includes under 10 micrometers, and PM2 also. PM5 and PM1 are both part of the process. The data were collected from four different sources. Initially, I measured the air in the garage as it was at its ambient temperature- On that day there was nothing to do, and work was not yet completed. As a second step, I performed my 5-minute walk The measurements were made during a minute-long series of cuts without the use of the WEN or other filtration or ventilation. The WEN was allowed to run on high for 90 minutes before a third set was collected. After that, I performed five rounds of the five-minute test WEN WEN was set to high and measurements were active as the work series ran, for reference, the US EPA standard limit for outdoor PM10 and PM2 is 5,000 particles per cubic meter per day. The 5-th and 35-th concentrations are respectively 150 ug/m3 and 35 ug/m3. Please find the following results - Micrograms per cubic meter are measured 1.

The air in the garage is conditioned. The PM1 is equal to 4 The PM2 mission. The numbers 5 and 5 are the same In addition to PM10, PM12 also equals The woodwork is heavy and there is no filtration. It is the first PM of the month 21 The PM2 mission. The sum is 155, so 5 = 155 In PM10, 4291
3 is equal to 4291. After heavy woodworking, WEN on HIGH for 90 minutes. The PM1 is equal to 2 The PM2 mission. The sum of 5 is 3 A PM10 of 17*4 is called a barometer of progress. Work on high while doing heavy woodworking. The PM1 is equal to 10 The PM2 mission. The answer to the question is 84 I had PM10= 2755

This is what I concluded Firstly, enter 1. It would have been better to install dust collection equipment years ago since woodworking produces a lot of dust. Near the WEN unit, it is about 4 miles away I found that by placing it 6' away from the saws and setting it to HIGH, I was able to cut dust concentrations more than in half during active work even though I did not have any direct dust control measures. 3.
Having the unit clean the air in my 500ft2 garage was a breeze once it had been installed. With the highest setting, PM2 will be reached after 90 minutes. PM5 is down to 3 micrograms per cubic meter and PM10 is down to 17 micrograms per cubic meter- PM2 was taken inside my kitchen that same day (no food had yet been cooked, and when all the cutting had begun in the garage). A PM5 concentration of 9 ug/m3 and a PM10 concentration of 105 ug/m3 were measured. I agree - By using the WEN, I was able to make my garage air cleaner than that in my home. My living room could use one of those. The unit performs very well all in all. I am a hobbyist space owner and work with small businesses If you have a garage or small workshop), you probably don't need to spend the extra money on a higher CFM unit. WEN's 400 CFM system appears to work just fine.

Once I get an automatic dust collector set up to capture sawdust directly from the saw, it would probably be worthwhile to run these tests again under a more realistic The post will be updated if and when I am able to borrow the equipment again. In addition, I will update the post as the unit is used for longer than one day and any other performance/longevity characteristics emerge. At the moment, I would say that these numbers deserve a hearty recommendation, and I consider this unit to be well worth it.

We have updated the model and are experiencing no issues yet
4/5

We will update once we have used it. Updates for the past four months I went ahead and bought another one for the other side of my shop because it worked so well and was so inexpensive. I can now breathe easy in my shop since the air is so fresh There was only one annoying thing about it, which was that I got the second unit directly from WEN and it looks differently made externally, and one of the handles was In other words, it works exactly the same way. I am writing this update after a seven-month period I deducted one star because the second unit I received produced a much louder motor sound than the first one. The serial number of the quieter one is GLT15100111. There are two louder ones LG T1603TM00184 and LG T1603TM00185. I guess the TM stands for something, so if you get the model with less noise, you'll be happier with it. I am updating An employee of the company contacted me right away to discuss the issue and is working on a resolution. In addition to sending a replacement, the company will take a look at my unit to see what is causing the issue. Thank you for your excellent customer service, as well as your willingness to accommodate my requests. As soon as I get a replacement unit, I will update. I look forward to hearing more. The following are the updates for the last nine months Although the company acknowledged that the newer units are manufactured in a different factory and have a different motor, they said they would operate at the same level. As a result of our discussions, the company offered to source an older unit to replace the 2nd unit I bought. I have since received and installed the replacement unit and I am pleased to report that is it indeed quieter than the original. *** CONCLUSION *** am not sure whether the newer unit I received was a defective/lemon unit or not, as the company never followed up with me about As far as I can tell, they never tested the unit I returned. While WEN has been accommodating in my situation and I am very satisfied with the units I now own, I cannot say the same for my landlord.

No need to search any further, just buy them! This is not the first time I've used these, since I create so much dust at the shop
5/5

These products were perfect for me! I am so glad I found them! There is a very good control of dust in the air. I like the feature that isn't even listed when you buy more than one, each unit receives its own remote, however the remote will operate both devices at the same time so you only have to carry one remote while not needing to find details about each individual unit's remote. Using can spray paint and clear coat spray also cycles the air, making it easier for you It was evident that both units were packed very well and were delivered undamaged. I had no problems hanging them as they were easy to install. The bigger my shop gets, the more likely I am to purchase these again.

Easy to use & affordable

A WEN 3410 3-is now in my hands A speed air filtering system is installed in the center of my 600 square foot office. A foot. I work on wood in my garage, which doubles as work space. As a result of this filtration method, I've been pleasantly surprised by its effectiveness. The machine successfully removes airborne saw dust I can speak to its effectiveness since my wife no longer has asthmatic issues after working with me in the workshop for a few minutes. It was on my list to purchase the Jet air filtration system, which cost three hundred dollars It would have cost me at least five times as much, but my tools budget could not handle another large cut, so I bought a WEN instead. The air filter on Jet is not to be blamed for that It has also been reported that it works great by another woodworker. I'll sum up my review by saying that if you're looking for an air filtration system but have a limited budget, try the WEN model.
