Shop Fox W1830 3-Speed Hanging Air Filter, White

I've only had this unit for a short time, but it appears to be filtering the air. The location of this unit, as stated in the instructions, is critical for getting the most out of it. This unit is not intended to serve as the shop's sole source of dust filtration. It serves as a backup to a dust collection system. Dust is a nightmare with my current dust collection system, which is an inefficient shop vacuum system, so I filter dust with a GVS SPR457 Elipse P100 Half Mask Respirator, which I purchased on Amazon. The remote control system on this unit leaves a lot to be desired. To operate the unit, the remote must be held close to and pointed at the control panel. Overall, I'm happy with this purchase and believe it was well worth the money. br>Update: Now that I've had this unit for a while, I can definitely tell a difference in my shop's dust levels. I've already had to clean the filter on this unit, so it works.

It performs admirably. It stopped working a month after I purchased it. Because I despise returning things, I opened it and hardwired the medium speed setting with the on/off and then through the remote away, which was useless. Later, I discovered that part of the shop had reverse wiring, which could have blown out the electrical on this unit, as two security cameras also stopped working around this time, so I give Shop Fox the benefit of the doubt that it would have worked fine if my wiring had not been reversed. br>br>When I run this unit, it works very well at filtering dust; the seal around the filter area is not tight, so you might want to put a piece of duct tape around it and then just s Filters are a little pricey for me, but I can usually go a year without replacing them if I blow them out with a leaf blower. Now, because the remote wasn't working because of my fault, I bought a set of remote outlets, plugged this unit in, and now I have an on/off remote for this and four other items I want to plug in, including a dust collector for the table saw. Because I don't need everything running at the same time, the remote saves me a few steps.

So far, I'm happy with my decision. It appears to be doing an excellent job of keeping the air clean in conjunction with my Delta dust collector. I like that it came with all of the hardware I'll need to mount it to my ceiling. I was expecting to have to go to Lowe's to get chain or hooks, but they were already included in the Box. So far, the remote appears to be functioning properly, though I haven't tested it at a great distance. It's great that the system is quiet. While it's running, I'm barely aware of it. I've only had it for about a week, so I can't speak to its durability or long-term usability. long-term viability My lungs are relieved that I bought it.

It was covered in dust from top to bottom, both filters were already dirty, and it didn't come with an IR remote or hanging chains. I wanted to hang it above my woodworking bench, but I wouldn't be able to turn it on or off without using a remote. It's a pain to pay for something only to discover it's been used and has parts missing. It appears to work fine when it is just sitting on a table, but I believe it would be worth the money if I could hang it up.

I read the reviews on Amazon for the big brand offerings and was not impressed with what the reviewers had to say until I read the reviews for the Shop Fox. Those that I had seen in my local tool shop had too large a footprint, were too high, were too heavy, and were too expensive. Having only a 7'-0"-0"-0"-0"-0"-0"-0"-0"-0"-0"-0 I found the low 10" profile of this unit to be ideal for my 0" basement height, and it is incredibly quiet at all speeds. I was concerned about noise transfer to the floor above after hanging the filtration system from the ceiling joists, in case the house's floor construction amplified the sound and I could hear it operating in my den above. From the den, I was unable to hear the unit. br>br>I get 12 with the high fan speed setting. A noticeable difference in air quality is achieved by performing 5 air changes per hour. I did notice some dust on shop surfaces after a session, but this is to be expected given that this type of system does not connect directly to dust-producing equipment and instead filters saw dust after it becomes airborne. Make sure the air volume of this unit is sufficient for the size of your shop before considering it. You may find that you require a system that can handle more air volume than this unit can. br>br>The higher the number of air changes per hour, the better the filtration, but extra air volume may result in higher discharge air velocity, which can be a nuisance in the shop. I wouldn't consider a system that produces less than 12 air changes per minute. 5AC is what I'm getting. br>br>The filters are simple to use, but I haven't used the system long enough to know how long the pre-filters will last. how long the internal filter will last, or how simple it will be to clean. br>br>In order for the remote control to receive the signal, you must be close to it and not at an angle. Either the unit or the remote can be used to adjust the speed control. However, instead of having to use the remote to control the timer, it would have been nice to be able to control it directly from the unit. br>br>So far, this unit has exceeded my expectations.

It's exactly the same as the rest. I have three hanging filters from three different manufacturers, and there is no discernible difference in sound, cleaning ability, or usage between them. All appear to be the same, but this is the most expensive; I have three small shops, and these work great for removing air horn dust; however, if I needed another, which I may, I would buy a less expensive one. This one's remote is missing, and I'm having trouble replacing it. To control it, I'll need a ladder right now.
