Questions & Answers

Is it okay if I put this inside?

Obviously, this question was posed by someone who does not speak English fluently, so in trying to decipher the question, I believe the question is "Does this tool come with the battery?" "Can this go in there?" means exactly that. At the very least, that's my guess. To answer your question, no, the battery is not included. It's a bare tool, so no, you won't be able to use it without purchasing a battery.

Will a 20-volt lithium-ion battery be sufficient? interchangeable dewalt ion and b batteries ion batery is a word that comes to mind when I think of the word ?

Black and Decker creates the DeWalt brand. The old style batteries could be interchanged, but the new 20 volt batteries have distinct tabs that prevent this. They do this to discourage people from purchasing a $20 Black and Decker battery and using it on all DeWalt tools. If you have DeWalt tools, you will be forced to buy the more expensive DeWalt battery.

Is there a hammer setting on this drill?

Nope

On the drill side, what does type 1 vs type 2 mean?

The type number identifies the multiple versions of a specific model number, according to the Dewalt website:br> br>When it comes to service parts, a type 1 version of a model number can be vastly different from the type 2 version. br>Knowing the type number is just as important as knowing the model number if you want to make sure you get the right service part(s). br>Each model number can have a variety of type numbers, or none at all.

Selected User Reviews For DEWALT 20V MAX XR Brushless Drill/Driver, Compact - Bare Tool (DCD791B)

The drill is fantastic, but the chuck is a disaster
3/5

I put four of these drills to the test. They're small, but they pack a punch. The chuck, on the other hand, was a complete waste of time on all four. The run out is excessive, and they're riveted, so they can't be replaced without causing significant damage to the drill. When you set the drill to 2 and give it full throttle, the entire drill vibrates in your hand, and the chuck wobbles visibly. They'd have the perfect drill if they just used the chuck from the DCD991. Spade bits have a runout of about 1/8 inch, depending on the length of the bit. This isn't a flaw; it happened on all four drills (2 Amazon, 2 HD). The DCD991 type chucks, on the other hand, are ideal for my larger drill. I really want to like this thing, but every time I use it, it reminds me how much I dislike the chuck. In 2019, I anticipate that power drills will perform as expected. This model has less run out than my $30 HF throwaway drills (sad but true). As a result, I will continue to use my DCD991. It's bulky and overkill for most jobs, but at the very least it keeps me from becoming irritated.

Fit and Finish are both poor
3/5

I understand that this is a tool, not a sports car, but the fit and finish of this drill disappointed me. A rough gap runs all the way around the middle of the tool because the two plastic halves were not joined together evenly. It's particularly bad on the drill's front base, where the built-in flashlight is. The right half's sharp plastic edge protrudes above the left half's edge, catching on something that brushes against it. I checked it against the grinder and impact driver I received in the same order, and neither of them had any flaws. I had high hopes for a DeWalt model that boasted of being manufactured in the United States.

WARNING
3/5

BUYING IS A MISTAKE. WARNING. BUYING IS A MISTAKE. I purchased the Dewalt 791B Drill/Driver (which did not come with a battery or charger, as advertised). Amazon was listed as the seller and shipper. Angel Sellers of Brooklyn, New York, sent me a package four days later. A Dewalt box was inside, claiming to contain a Dewalt DCD791B Drill/Driver. I discovered a Dewalt 710s1 when I cracked open the sealed Dewalt box. This model is 12 volts and costs half as much as the DCD 791B. A zeroxed DCD791B was used as the direction "booklet. " It also appeared to have been used or re-used. made by hand This was clearly a ruse, and we've learned our lesson. I'm returning it to get a refund.

the proper method for installing bits   Some drill awe
5/5

The battery is infinitely long lasting. Watch my video to learn how to properly install drill bits so that they don't come loose.

I was let down
3/5

again. In the middle of the year, I purchased one of these. The chuck slipped on anything other than the largest drill bits in 2019. I should have just returned it, but I'm a tinker, so I completely destroyed the drill trying to remove the chuck (they no longer use a user-friendly fastener to hold the chuck on). br>So, in December, I swallowed my pride and bought another one. I had the same issue with the chuck, but I managed to get by. After that, the high-speed mode became unusable. Nothing more than a rattle. There will be no spinning involved. This drill has only been used a handful of times and has never been abused. Heck. It appears to be in perfect condition. It's off to DeWalt for a warrant repair this time. I'll get back to you with more information and a report on the experience. br>I am DEFINITELY interested in purchasing the United States of America.

Torque to the max! Design with a small footprint
3/5

This is a drill driver with a lot of torque. When driving screws, keep a tight grip on it and start slowly. Otherwise, the driver bit (Phillips or pan-head) will spin. head) in the screw's head, stripping it Starting this drill slowly when driving screws requires practice and effort. Yes, this is the slower of the two speed options. The torque is excellent for drilling; just make sure the drill bit is securely fastened in the chuck, or the high torque will cause you to spin around the drill bit. br>09/2021 Update: Re- I'm giving this a three-star rating because: The chuck on this drill driver has started to fail after I used it to deconstruct and rebuild my deck. The drill bit (3/32") in Pine will become stuck as I tighten it as much as I can, but the drill will continue to spin. It's difficult to re-enter the room. To remove the drill bit, turn on the chuck. When using it to drive deck screws with a Torx extension, the chuck frequently loosens and drops the Torx extension. Many times it falls through the decking to the ground, and retrieving the bit requires a round trip down and under the deck - On the deck, it slows things down. It was the battery, not the hardware, that I expected to fail first.

The entire chuck head was shattered! well after destroying two of the series' regular drills; I went with the "brushless" option
3/5

ok great! However, when I connected it to a hole saw, the entire chuck section snapped off! A flat washer, a three-pointed round piece, a few what appear to be roller bearings, and the entire section hanging off the bit separated from the rest of the drill were all present. It was purchased in September, so it's only a year old.

This review is solely about the tool and my experience returning it for a refund
5/5

I drilled three holes in my stainless steel toolbox with a very small drill bit to mount some handles and it froze up, so I assumed it was a defective unit. I decided to have Amazon send a replacement unit after attempting to free it for a long time without success. This is one of the main reasons I shop on Amazon; the replacement arrived in 2 days, and I couldn't believe how quickly it arrived. I immediately packed up the old one and shipped it back, and they notified me when it was received and credited. I've put the new unit through its paces and it's performed flawlessly. With so many holes and so many screws to drive, I haven't had any problems yet and don't expect to. The drill is in good working order.
