Questions & Answers

In terms of overall height, how tall is it? You need one to put on a flip table, right?

My measurement was 23 after all parts were assembled. The height must be 5 by the depth must be 15 by the width must be 9

Is it difficult to chuck up a little with the chuck guard in place? What are the chances of removing it?

If you want to leave it off, you can do that. The software is not installed by default.

What is the country of origin?

Made in China, this machine has a wide range of applications.

When I use this drill press, can I use a masonry bit to drill holes into bricks?

A minimum rpm is set for the G0925 at 740. A maximum speed of 700 rpm can be achieved for boring of soft brick up to 1/2" diameter. For cutting masonry bits 1/2" and smaller, a speed of around 500 to 700 rpm is most efficient. The holes are cleaner and the bit lives longer when the speed is low.

The drill press is what I would call a 'portable' drill press, which is perfectly suited to my needs
4/5

I think this is a good deal for the price. It is not suitable for heavy duty work, even on a small scale, but it is adequate for many kinds of work. This is close enough to the truth. There is a gorgeous thick coat of emerald green enamel painted on the cast iron. There's a lot less weight and space in it than my old 10" Delta. It is something I bought because I wanted something small, accurate for light duty drilling so I could move it wherever I needed to, and my 10 10" press is too big and heavy to move without Specifically, this light is for a drill press, which is useful for my purposes. Putting it together was not a difficult task it took me about 15 minutes to complete. Within twenty Instructions that are easy to understand. If you don't have the three page assembly guide with pictures, you might not understand how to assemble the mounted to the drill chuck guard assembly that is fastened to the spindle sleeve by a thumb screw and bolt. This adjustable chuck guard seems like it gets in your way, but it flips open to allow you to drill without it in any position and change bits easily. It will definitely help to keep scraps away from your face if you do have them flying. Protect your eyes, but don't forget the sunglasses. It might be a good idea to use a different type of 'ruler' for the depth gauge, but my major objection is that the depth gauge marks are just metallic paper with sticky backing and I'm not sure how well that will stay in place over time. To replace the broken part, I'm tempted to buy a thin metal ruler, cut it into a small strip, and epoxy it on as a more durable, sturdy option. It's unlikely that I'll need to or bother to do that.

The following are excerpts from the article "Deep Stop Disappointment
3/5

". This machine is very well made and I am pleased with its overall quality. Using clamps on the table should be easy as well since it's well built and should be simple to use. Furthermore, I think this drill is just really nice looking!

What I am disappointed about is that the depth stop is attached to the red part of the safety cover, it screws into a hole on the side. Here are two issues I have I am not sure about the durability of the plastic safety cover, however. Although the rest of the machine seems durable, it is not as durable as the rest of the machine. I can tell from the manual that the depth stop was held in place with a screw into a part. From the looks of it, it was a metal part. In contrast to other cheaper options, I chose this product because it was constructed with quality parts that couldn't fail even after months or years of use. I find another inconvenience with this change to be that the safety cover is bulky, even if the clear parts are removed, so if I want to use the depth stop, I have to leave it on. In spite of the fact I really like this, I still give it 3 stars. My satisfaction with the drill extends to every aspect of it.

The table has to be raised by a crank
4/5

This machine is good generally but needs a crank to raise and lower the table
The guard is so annoying that I have disabled it
The chuck key is a good idea, but another pain,
The fine-dial indexing is very stiff.

The adjustment is difficult
3/5

This item is made in China. There is no way to adjust the drill vertically. The only way to adjust the vertical dimension is by pulling up/down the table and moving the chuck up and down. There is a lot of rough work still to be done on the table. It does not slide up or down Was I not clear that this product is made in China? It does have a pretty powerful motor, however the fit, finish, as well as the design stink. Definitely not going to buy this product again.

Installing the software is simple
4/5

Before beginning assembly, make sure you read the supplemental instructions. A shield and depth gauge must be installed before the chuck can be installed. Aside from that, it is easy to assemble and performs well for the price. As well as being heavy enough to handle most small tasks without having to bolt it down, the unit is lightweight and can be moved and stored easily.

This is a pretty easy project I like that the pieces are easy to assemble and the quality is good
4/5

I only have one issue, though. The base is very small, so I can't set my vice on it. The Z travel is 2", which is fine for something of this size.

The only other issue is that the vice cannot be set In trying to figure out how to clamp things to it, I found that it is actually a very small vice.

I would prefer this drill to the local discount tool store because it is better and cheaper
5/5

It did not include instructions on how to install the chuck guard. I never got around to installing it. Quality that is better than the local discount tool store and at the same prices.

This bench top is pretty nice
5/5

A sturdy unit with quiet operation seems to have been constructed. Installation of the chuck in the quill should be done before you install the plastic guard (which is a nice feature). If this is the case you will have to remove the chuck, then install the guard. If I understand the instructions correctly you install the chuck, then remove it. In the end, I chose Harbor Freight's drill press over this unit, the WEN, and the WEN drill. We have been using Grizzly products for over a decade and they have proved to be durable. It would be nice if it had variable speed, but at this price point it's good enough. I am very happy with it overall.
