It could sometimes be shut off by flipping it back and forth vigorously, but that would not be the proper way to use My wife was looking for the OEM switch, so I found one on Amazon. Happy to report that it is identical to the original in both appearance and functionality. However, it actually turns off after a few moments. I hope that this one will outlast the original, but I imagine it would probably be produced on the same line, so it'll probably last about the same amount of time. As long as the jointer isn't over 20 years old, I guess that will be fine.
However, even though the ad does not mention it, this is an ideal match for the Ryobi BTS12S Table Saw. I have provided photos of the work I was assigned to do with this review. There is a 2 pole switch in the new model, and all you have to do is hook up the line side to the off side and the load side to the on side. The research on Amazon that I had to do to find the numerous switches was taking me more time than it actually took to remove and install the switches. I am happy to report that the code is working as expected, and we are back on track.
