The best thing that ever happened to me was winning a $100 gift card. I used it to cover the majority of the cost of a large kit that included all of the MicroJig's accessories. I've used it several times now and am still amazed at how simple and safe it is to use. It was strange having something straddle the blade with my hand directly on top of the spinning blade, but you get used to it after a while. I've never felt so in command of the wood my table saw is cutting. Now I think it's worth the money, and I'd recommend it to anyone who hasn't won a gift card to help defray the cost!br>br>I haven't used the 1/8 block or the deflector connector yet, but I'm looking forward to doing so. br>br>For my upcoming b-day party, I'm looking for a unique way to express myself. On that day, I'll ask for the basic push block (100 or 200) and a second one for longer stock. I've been using the MicorJig in conjunction with a regular push block, but having two microjigs would be fantastic.
I went ahead and bought the deluxe version, and now that I've used them on my table saw, jointer, and router table, I wish I had done so sooner. It's so much easier and safer when I take the time to set them up for making repeated cuts. Because of the grip they have on both sides of the board, I don't get burnt out on longer cuts, and I haven't used a push stick since I bought the two grippers. For the safety factor and functionality, I would definitely recommend them to all of my friends.
As a push block, it's fantastic. Maintains a safe distance between your hand and the blade. It has excellent grip on wood and gives me confidence that it will not slip during the cut. I haven't used a lot of the parts that came with the kit. I believe that the basic kit would be ideal for 90 of what I do. Having all of the parts and options, on the other hand, isn't a bad thing. It's more convenient to have them and not require them than to require them and not possess them. This is a tool that I would strongly suggest.
This unit is fine for a bunch of repetitive cuts, but it's more trouble than it's worth for a variety of one-offs. I also bought the GRR- GRR-RIP BLOCK Smart Hook Pushblock, as well as GRR-RIP BLOCK Smart Hook Pushblock I've been using RIPPER Complete and have found it to be extremely helpful.
The problem is that it's too difficult to set up for real-world woodshops and takes too long to do so. It has one of the thickest dust layers of any tool in my shop after only being used once. Moreover, I am a firm believer in following safe procedures! Spend your money on a real tool instead.
The only criticism I have for this product is that I wish there were two of them to aid in the passing of longer pieces of wood. That adds up quickly, but everything else works as expected. br>br>Pros: br>Excellent for passing wood and has excellent grips. This was a challenge for me as a beginning woodworker. It makes the transition easier. br>br>Contrary to popular belief, there are a number of disadvantages to using this product.
- None.
I'm kicking myself for not purchasing one sooner. Grr- I purchased one. Ripper Complete was completed, but it was quickly realized that longer pieces necessitated the use of two people. I had to order a few add-ons because the second one I bought didn't come with all of the extra attachments. br>It was well worth the money. The Grr- takes a few minutes to set up depending on the cut. It's a ripper, but for the sake of safety, it's a no-brainer.
For just about any tablesaw cut you can think of, this is a brilliant idea that has been well thought out. The 1/8" leg works well for safely ripping thin strips. It's a little pricey, and it's a little of a pain to switch from one cut to the next, but it's a lot less expensive and time-consuming than having your fingers sewn back on. It's also made in the United States of America.
