Questions & Answers

Moreover, I also own this dado on my Bosch 4100, a 10 inch work saw, but I am uncertain if it will fit Is anyone here?

Yes, this is a little confusing. Freud blade sizes are shown on the site above ranging from the 10 inch blade with a 1 inch arbor hole down to the 6 inch blade with a 5/8 inch There is absolutely no way the Bosch 4100 or any other portable saw can handle a 10 inch blade. This is also true of the 8-inch model. It seems like they would not be able to handle even an inch of trim. There is also a question of safety with these saws because they will simply not have the power. Considering that there are so many spinning metals, it is crazy to think about how fast it is spinning.

As far as I can tell, most sets cost about The price of this set is higher than those of the other sets. Is that worth it?

The $100 and one dado are the only things you need to make. You should buy the 00 set if that is the perfect size. might be able to save money by doing this three more times. You can save money with the Freud kit in case you need to make more than four dice.

Does anyone own this dado set, and did the blades ever need resharpening?

It is possible to sharpen the dado set. There is a need for them to be re-evaluated A set of sharpening stones was used. You can visit our website at The Freud tool. You can find a local sharpener by visiting www.sharpenerlocator.com.

In the case that a blade won't fit on some saws due to a short arbor when the dado is set to the maximum and still allow a nut to fasten, what arbor length would be necessary?

Send me a message with the length of your Arbor and I will come measure the Dado set in my shop. There is a bit of a learning curve when getting on grizzly's hybrid saw, which is a bit rapid, but once up and running one finds it amazing. The email address for me is [email protected]. It's great that the SD508 works so well A box is a bit of a problem
4/5

Here is a picture of the Freud SD508 with the 5/8 arbor, I am not talking about the dials, but I am talking about the 5-inch unit as well. Arbor diameter of 18 inches. According to some of the reviews, Freud Dado sets are the focus of some of the reviews. It appears that either they are being posted under the wrong product or all Freud reviews are grouped Furthermore, look for reviews that are marked "verified purchase" when reading reviews. It seems that a lot of reviews are 5-stars A star or a 1 I believe that shills for or against the company, or those who use the brand as a weapon, write reviews that don't contain much information, usually one star. The review is now ready for you. I was eager to try out my new Freud given set as soon as possible, so I decided to cut some dice It is a Bosch 4100-I don't have any professional experience with it With the gravity raise stand, the 09 saw can cut dice, but it has a maximum width of 13/16 inch. The slender arbor of this tree makes it particularly tall. To cut my first cut, I used a 13/16 inch wide dado set and a 1/2 inch deep dado set cut from some scrap red oak from an earlier project.

The dado set cut smoothly and there was almost no It was straight and smooth on both sides. It was a perfect 90 degrees at the shoulder. It was fantastic to see the bottom. There were no ridge lines between the blades or chippers on the bottom. Whenever I used my previous dado set, there would always be one or more ridges in the bottom that I had to chisel out or sand out. It was tried with and without shims, and different widths were tried. We were very pleased with the results of all cuts. In my opinion, the box and its internal plastic lining are the only thing wrong. I find it to be flimsy, since it appears strong and thick, but it is actually thin and light, especially considering the weight of the dado set It's sturdy looking, but it's not. liner on the inside of the case is thin and flimsy as well. Rather than the heavy, standard heavy plastic used for storage and repeated handling, the red plastic is thin and crinkly, as is typically used in packaging. Plastic is the same thin plastic as that used in packaging between the blades and chippers. in which cheap Christmas ornaments are shipped. plastic liner is weak enough that both blades and three chippers fell out of the slots during shipping and were lying on top of the plastic liner when I It will be protected to some degree by a wooden insert that I shall make and some heavier plastic or rubber blade/chipper dividers that I shall procure. The overall Freud SD508 dado set is one of my favorites. A beautiful dice is cut with it. Although carbide is hard, it is susceptible to damage from hitting against another carbide if they are contacting each other. For its price, however, it should come with a more substantial storage bag. The dice are great, but you need a better bottle to keep them in.

DADO set to die for! As a starting point, check out these The set is extremely durable
4/5

Admins should beware. It's insanely sharp and terrifying when you use it for the first time. I'm surprised at how clean and perfect the cuts are. I'm better at cutting than I am at using In my research, I found several reviews that say that DADO sets might not cut as smoothly as routers. As it turns out, the reverse is true. In my router, I even used an entirely new bit. Despite the set arriving undamaged and in good time, it was not damaged. My experience with this purchase has been very positive, and I have a much better grasp of why the cost was so high. I firmly believe that you get what you pay for, even if it costs a bit. It is true that the price is a bit high, but I feel like I am getting my money's worth Here are some things I don't like It was mentioned in every review that the case was a junkie, and they are right You may want to build a case yourself or buy a high-quality one I would recommend putting this set inside a nice case. At the time I received the set, there were no chips in my teeth. A light amount of surface rust was evident on the labels stamped into the shims. Despite this, there was nothing that could rival a Scotch The Brite and the Despite getting in touch with 40 right away, he didn't follow up. Also, I did not care for the fact that none of the chippers were I just wrote in pencil which chippers were which once I figured out which were which. During the construction of my case, I will make sure each drawer for each chipper has a name. My overall satisfaction with my purchase is very high. As it turned out, my expectations were lower than the performance of the set. Despite its nice features, Freud needs to improve their shipping case for a product of this quality. They should also figure out how to label the chipper blades. Otherwise, I would have given it five stars. While this may not be a big issue for professionals, I do not know what I am doing as a professional and I don't do this stuff every day. I look forward to working with this product for many years.

There are some 10" table saw models that don't fit this blade
4/5

This was purchased for my Jet Deluxe Xacta 10" table saw with a 220 v 3-hp motor. In the inside blades and the outside blades, I needed to reverse the arbor adapters due to using a left tilt saw. Because of the short arbor and the arbor lock built into the unit, it did not fit my saw. In the Freud dial a width dado set, nothing mentions that saws with shorter arbors should be avoided. Freud customer service explained that the product didn't work with my saw, and the agent apologized for the failure. Returning it to Amazon was no problem for me. The information section of Freud's book might have been better if he had included that information.

It is priced at 5 stars, but cut at 4 stars
4/5

I expected a 5 stars, except for the awful packaging that others have brought up over and over again This is an excellent job at a great price. I use a 6" set of Oshlun dado blades and they are quite effective. Each blade cut in a similar way with only the slightest discernible difference between them. looked at Freud from just the name brand alone when I had the need to move to an 8" set in order to get an even smoother finish. I'll keep it short and sweet. The packaging was horrible, ripped as soon as it arrived (seriously, a full stack of Oshlun 6" left individual channels that the Oshlun 6" set got better at. It wasn't easy to love this set, since I paid 2x the amount for them and ended up with a lower-quality set. It looks like I just got an extremely rare bad set, but I do regret getting it. I returned and spent half as much on the Oshlun 8" instead.

A little bigger than 8 inches, but not quite
3/5

We don't recommend Sawstop for this application. It appeared this dado set met the criteria for use on a Sawstop table saw when I purchased it. The 8 inch steel stacked dado set has teeth that are standard. As far as solid plate chippers, molding heads, and wobble blades are concerned, this machine does not have any. Upon inspection, it turned out that the blade diameter actually is 8 3/16 inches and that the saw stop brake cannot be adjusted far enough to enable Also, the chippers are too heavy and Sawstop advises that if the brake is activated without the blade being in use, the brake may damage the saw. Due to the fact that it is described as an 8 inch set, I contacted Freud. In the end, I did not get any satisfaction.
