Questions & Answers

Is there a difference between which side of these tires goes inside and which side goes outside? There's a smooth side and a slightly rougher side. Thanks! ?

Yes, the smooth side goes on the outside; the rougher side, which is closest to the wheel, prevents it from slipping.

Is it possible to use these tires on a Grizzly G0555 Band Saw? Thanks. ?

I used a Harbor Freight 14" band saw to install the belts. When it ran fast enough, the original rubber bands stretched out and flew off the wheels, causing the blade to fly away. I just used the band saw the other day for the first time in over a year since I installed the urethane belts, and it still works perfectly. It was the best decision I could have made. My band saw resembles a Jet band saw in appearance. I hope this information is useful.

Mine is 13 inches in diameter. (Jet) 75". Is this going to work?

They should, because my saw was exactly 14" long, and even after soaking them in hot water for 10 minutes, I had to stretch them to fit.

Is there anyone out there with a 16-inch three-wheeler? Is it possible to get tires for a delta bandsaw?

They are a rare find. On eBay, I found a few. If you're looking for a bandsaw, you've come to the right place For your Delta 28 560 bandsaw, tire-warehouse is a great place to go.

Selected User Reviews For Sulpher Grove Tool Urethane Band Saw Tires 1 Inch Wide by 14 Inch Diameter

These are NOT compatible with crowned wheels on 14" DELTA Bandsaws! The original Delta tires are a full inch in diameter
3/5

These urethane replacements are only 140" thick and come in a variety of colors. 090”. Delta tires are designed to fit into a machined groove on the rim of the wheel. The highest point of the rim is at the center of the crown, which is 135" deep. Because the blade will naturally climb to the highest point on the turning rim, crested bandsaw wheels are designed to keep the blade centered on the wheel. br>With the original tire installed, the blade runs stable because the tire's center is the highest point on the rim. The center of the crown, however, is lower than the shoulders of the groove machined in the rim with the replacement tire installed. br>If the blade strays off center and comes into contact with the rim's higher shoulder, it will LURCH FORWARD and RECENTER ON THE METAL EDGE OF THE RIM! br>While this scenario is less likely if you use narrow 3/16" or 1/4" blades, wider 1/2" or 3/4" blades pose a significant risk. You run the risk of not only damaging a potentially costly resaw blade, but also of serious personal injury. The toothed edge of a 3/4" blade will be EXPOSED, RIGHT NEXT TO THE POWER OFF SWITCH, THE FIRST PLACE YOUR HAND IS LIKELY TO GO IN AN EMERGENCY, if it lurches to the front of the rim.

For those who don't want to read long reviews, I'll just say that I think these tires are great. If you're looking to replace your bandsaw tires, these are the ones to get! br>br>I used these tires to replace the original tires on a Ridgid bandsaw model 14002. Ridgid's 14002 wheel is slightly larger than 13 inches in diameter. Even though these tires are 5" wide, they still fit very tightly. To install the first tire, I needed a couple of clamps and a screwdriver. Even with some minor pre-planning, it was a little challenging. I was able to get it on by bending over and tightening the clamps. I used clamps instead of a screwdriver for the bottom wheel. To completely seat the tires within the wheel, I used the wooden dowel trick. br>br>On first inspection, you can see the seam lines where the seam was welded together, and it felt a little thin in those spots. I expected to have to sand the tires to balance them, just like I did with the factory tires. I was, however, blown away after tensioning the blade and turning on the saw for the first time! There was no need to sand the tires down because I noticed a reduction in vibration almost immediately. My saw is still slightly out of balance, but with a new drive belt and a little more minor wheel balancing, it should be as good as new. Without it, these tires are still good enough that the vibration is now bearable and my blade flutters much less "naturally. " I usually wait until a product has been used for a while before writing a review, but I can tell these tires are built to last, and the fact that no sanding was required and the smoothness they bring to the blade justifies a review right away. I just finished tuning my blade and installing these tires. br>br>I've seen videos of the tires being installed while the wheels are still in the bandsaw, but I agree with the instructions and recommend removing the wheel before installing. If you have a 14-inch wheel, you have a 14-inch wheel. I recommend a good amount of stretching and possibly even soaking in warm water before stretching anything larger than 5" in diameter. Make sure to detension your blade after each day's use to extend the life of your tires (and your blade, for that matter). Mine is detensioned for eight full turns.

If your blade has a flutter or your machine has a vibration you just can’t control then get these and I all but%.

My Ridgid bandsaw was perfect for it
5/5

These tires are part of my latest effort to turn a junk Ridgid bandsaw I got off Craigslist into a usable machine; I'd already worked out most of the vibration by balancing the pulley and wheels and installing a link belt, but these tires outperformed the worn-out pair that came with it. br>br>It was very simple to set up. I didn't use hot water because the directions said not to. I stretched them by stepping on one end and pulling the other with my hand, then repeating the stretch all the way around. I left the wheels on the saw and strapped the other half in place halfway through the belt. I finished by squeezing it with two screwdrivers like a bicycle tire. Finally, I used my fingernails to push the final 1/16" into the channel, then smoothed it out with my thumb. Everything fit perfectly and went on much more easily than I had anticipated based on other reports of bandsaw tire installation. br>br>Easy to put on, comfortable to wear, and performs admirably. These are something I would strongly suggest.

Significant progress has been made
5/5

My old bandsaw tires were the originals from the factory, dating back to 1996. The saw had always shook a little, but it had recently gotten worse, to the point where the lower tire would come off the rim whenever I started it up. I ordered a pair of these tires because they were less expensive than OEM and were urethane, so I gave them a try. I couldn't stretch them onto the rim cold because they're so tight. However, a small amount of hot water from the tap warmed and softened them nicely. After drying them, I began putting them in place. I used a small "F" clamp to hold the tire in place and bicycle tire tools (not screwdrivers) to coax it on to the wheels because it was still too tight to pull with my fingers. It only took a little nudging to get the tire's edge into the slot once it was mostly on. After a thorough inspection, it was discovered that these tires perfectly fit the slot. I manually rotated the wheels to center the blade after reinstalling the blade, then replaced the guards and looked for a suitable piece of wood to make the first test cut. The saw no longer shook or bounced around, which was the first thing I noticed. It runs more smoothly than I recall, possibly even better than when I first got it. Who'd have guessed that something as basic as new tires could make such a difference? This is an excellent upgrade that I wish I had completed earlier.
